I interviewed last year and this school was my fav... I am a reapp and interviewing in Jan. I hope I will get it this time. I can totally see why I was not taken last year though. My interviewing was more then TERRIBLE when I look back on it!

eeehhh 2nd look? I haven't gotten the mail package yet.

Me neither! I just assume that there is a 2nd look, and if my assumption is in fact correct, I will most definitely be attending 🙂

Well, I got the official letter in the mail today and no mention of a second look. In fact, I'm 99.9% sure I recall being told sometime during the interview day that there would be no school-sponsored second-look day. Too bad...

there isn't a second look. they were pretty clear about that when i interviewed that we should see all we could because there wasn't a second look

that really is too bad. i'd love to sit in on a class.

From what it sounded like from the students I talked to, they were willing to host people who wanted to come look at the school again even though there isn't an "official" second look, and they said that the admissions office would probably be willing to help find students that would host people for a second look.

yeah wasn't the point of the long FA talk that they weren't going to bring us back later?

oh well, whatevs, deposit goes in the mail tomorrow either way.

Yeah, at my interview day they said there was no official "second look" day; however, they encourage you to contact the admissions office if you want to come back and shadow a student. If you e-mail them, they said they'd set you up with a student to shadow sometime between January and March, if I remember correctly.

You guys listen so much better than I do.

Bummer. I was looking forward to meeting you guys on second look. I guess SDN will do for now.

Anywho, I just got an email from Mr. Slavin confirming they've received my deposit. They still haven't cashed the check though(checked my bank account). Anyone else got the email?

can anyone tell me if there is a way to check the status of an application or anything? i can't find out any information on the secondary site.

if you log back in to your secondary application, there should be a status tab (i think)

Weird interview questions? Of what sort? :\

anyone remember when they said they would release all the financial aid forms to start working on?

They will be mailed to interviewees and those accepted sometime in January.

Let me rephrase:

Tufts, BU or Drexel?

I won't put Drexel in the same catergory as Tufts or BU unless you have a good reason to be in Philly. For BU vs Tufts, I've heard they are pretty similar (cost, location). Tufts just finished a brand new renovation so the facilities are newer and nicer. The student camaraderie at Tufts was very good . Finally, BU is ranked higher in US News but it seems residency directors look at Tufts graduates more favorable(see post#7) :http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=493442 . Both schools will get you to where you want if you do well. It all comes down to intangibles and better fit for you.🙂

+1. I wouldnt bother with drexel if you have tufts or BU acceptances. As far as cost all are some of the most expensive schools in the country so that wont matter much. Personally id go tufts over those 3 but its your choice.

Gonna be here next week!! Wohoo... SO excited, but nervous at the same time.

Let's hope the winter storms let down soon.

any thoughts on tufts vs. jefferson?

They both seem like nice schools. I love Jefferson's location in the Center City area of Philly, and I have a lot of friends there who find the school to be enjoyable and non-competitive. The only thing that turns me off about Jefferson is the class size of ~260. Tufts' size seems more appealing, and the facilities are newer.

i have too many failed logins. can someone tell me what interview dates are available? thanks a lot!

Notsur, did you still need this info? I was on the status website and saw that interviews are available on Feb 11, 16, 25 and throughout March.

Just got an interview invite today, I'm really pumped. 2º finished mid-October, interview currently scheduled for 2/11/2010. I'll be checking the calendar every day to see if I can move it up.

Def do. I was lucky enough to move my date up by two months! 😀
Waiting anxiously till late Dec/early Jan now...

just trying to gauge if i'm even in contention...

secondary done in august
second set of mcats in mid-sept

i am a maine med accepted student and am trying to find time to come for a tufts info session (they let maine med students come to the boston campus for info sessions), but it would be REALLY nice to be able to schedule the info session around the time of a tufts-proper interview (or to know if i wasn't going to get an interview)

have any of you called their office before?

Sent an update e-mail just yesterday - Hoping for an interview. Has anyone here had success with Tufts after sending an update letter?
did this about 2 weeks ago and so far nothing.

I got my secondary done in early October and just recently got an interview, so they are giving out interviews to people complete in that time period. Seems like you just have to hang in there, I don't think they're particularly responsive to updates or in-the-area requests.

Does anyone know the grading system for the first two years? I remember hearing that it was Pass/Fail, but the 2007-2008 student handbook says it's P/F/Honors. I was thinking that the honors may have been removed in the new curriculum but I am not sure. I emailed the school asking about it, but I haven't received a reply yet. Anyone know for certain?

Pass/Fail, changed with the new curriculum. Students didn't seem to care much - they realize it doesn't matter.

Thanks for the info oze. Yeah, I don't know how much it matters if they have honors or not. But it's definitely better than honors, high pass, low pass, etc. for preclinical courses.

Can anyone describe what is meant by the "new curriculum", or find a link where I can read about the changes Tufts made. Much appreciated, thanks!

I dunno, the general consensus among the students I have talked to on the interview trail is that the importance of the whole pass/fails/honors/gold star thing is overblown, and that residency directors could give two ****s about it, and that you should just (ha, just) nail your boards and do well 3rd+4th years

Anyone going after the Fletcher MA or the MBA or MPH dual degrees? Just curious....

Anyone going after the Fletcher MA or the MBA or MPH dual degrees? Just curious....

I'm going to send in my MD/MPH app (already accepted MD) soon. Getting both degrees in 4 years is pretty incredible in my opinion, and the added cost (around 5k/year) is a lot less than taking a 5th year for the MPH.

any others looking MD/MPH or MD/MBA?

hmmm explain to me how this works - I already sent in my deposit for MD, how do I apply to the MPH now? More letters and essays?

Its available as a tab in the secondary application, even after you've submitted the MD app. There are 2 essays, but no more letters required.

Anyone complete early August and no news whatsoever?

Congrats to all those who have received acceptances and interview invites! For those who have heard back (acceptance/rejection/wl), what's the most recent date that you heard back from? I interviewed 11/24, is there any way I might hear back in December?
