That almost makes me feel worse for not getting an invite, haha. I just keep telling myself no one's working now so it's ok to not hear anything. But if they are working and I'm still not?

Well poo.

Hang in there, Sammich.

interviewed early december but havent gotten a call...starting to lose hope 🙁

I applied to Maine track and haven't heard anything back (interviewed 12/4) yet. I'm guessing that's a bad sign.

I interviewed for the Maine Track in mid november and got the call on New Years Eve. It was like Tufts wanted to give me a reason to celebrate! Don't give up hope just yet.

Does anyone remember/know what the anatomy lab looks like? I don't remember the tour guide pointing it out on the interview day. Also, anyone know how many students per prosection?

You went to the anatomy lab on the tour? My tour guides didn't take us there...

Sammich, you are not alone!! Don't feel bad!

Well, I don't remember, lol. Trying to see if anyone else recalls having any info about it.

My tour guide took us to the anatomy lab. I remember it being a large, open room in a basement. It's the only anatomy lab, so there were a lot of cadavers in the room, but other than that I don't really remember any details. I think it was ~5 students per cadaver, but my tour guide mentioned the numbers had been changing a bit so that could be wrong.

The anatomy lab is the one thing at Tufts that hasn't been updated yet(it's in a different building). It was well- lit but a tad cramped and located in the basement. It's approximately ~5 students per cadaver. I don't remember seeing any modern electronics and other jazzy stuff. It was just your good ol' anatomy lab room.

as per the admissions office, emails/snail mail will be sent out by the end of the week for all who interviewed in nov/early dec....hopefully that means they will still be making calls?

please please please can i get accepted?

Just wondering if anyone has sent in a letter of interest PRE-interview, and if so, what the response was? Trying to figure out if it's worth a shot... I probably will end up sending something in, just because I would really like to interview here and don't want to go down without a fight lol

thanks

congrats to everyone who got calls. I'm still holding on to the final threads of hope. did anyone receive a call today? It would be reassuring to hear since from the looks of this thread they may have finished on 1/2?

When did you interview, MCATBear? I interviewed early December and am still awaiting a call, email, or snail mail to brighten up my life. Are we sure that they call for every acceptance also?

I interviewed november 24th. I think they do call everyone but it doesn't look like they do it all at the same time. I'm just hoping they haven't already made all the calls for this round.

Has anyone received the acceptance email yet? I got the call last week (12/29), but just figured I would receive the email by now.

EDIT: Never mind, just came out. Woohoo!!

At the waitlist loves company. count me in.

I wouldn't send a Letter of Interest, but rather an update letter with new grades, recs, awards, publications, activities, etc.. Here's the response I got...I emailed Emily Coldon (Associate Director of Admissions)
cleardot.gif
[email protected]. My Pre-Med Adviser gave me her email.

"Thank you for your interest in Tufts University School of Medicine. I will be happy to pass along your update to the Admissions Committee.

Please feel free to continue to send in updates that you feel the Committee should be aware of. "

I'm thinking about withdrawing at Tufts per other acceptances. Haven't completely finalized that though. It's kind of late in the process now, so I don't even know if it's worth it. But can't hurt I guess.

Thanks for that. I did combine the letter of interest with an update for a recent activity. We'll see if it makes any impact whatsoever...

Does anyone know how you are admitted MD/MPH? I applied for the MD/MPH program (did the extra 2 essays); however, on my acceptance email it says I was accepted to the regular MD program? Does that mean I was rejected for the MD/MPH or do I have to fill out more stuff for that?

I applied MD/MPH after getting into the MD program and haven't heard anything back yet. Could be they just haven't looked into the MD/MPH apps yet.

O ok thanks. Phew, I was a bit bummed.

financial aid question - the disadvantaged background definition seems to be a lot looser for Tufts' FA application than the AMCAS's definition - has anyone else read the definition? I don't want to read too much into it and then make an ass of myself.

Yea. It's a lot looser. Low SAT score?. I still think in the end it will ultimately be the income tax return of your parents that will determine your need-based status.

yeah I agree. woot poor parents?

So I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons at a couple of different schools, I was hoping maybe I'd get some insight from someone here. Tufts vs Brown vs Temple vs NJMS vs Stony Brook.

I like Tufts but it's really expensive. NJMS is my state school and is the cheapest so I'm having a really hard time letting it go lol. Anyway, if you had to choose one of those schools to attend, which one would it be?

Pretty good selection of schools. It depends on a number of different factors and what is important to you. In terms of:

Cost- Good ones to consider are NJMS and Stony Brook (in state tuition after 1 year)

Prestige- Brown and Tufts are the more "well known" of those schools. With Brown taking the lead, b/c of it being an Ivy league.

Location- TUFTS!!! Come on it's Boston. I have also heard good things about Providence. For some reason, every one has a negative perception of Philly (I think that's where Temple is?), but I'm sure that could be cool too.

Personally, money is a factor for me, but I do think prestige is important to a certain degree (despite what people on SDN say). I would personally go to Brown, but if not that school, go with the cheapest one (state school).

Poor parents, yea. Has Tufts ever awarded full scholarships? I've only heard half-tuition.

I've only ever heard of half-tuition as well. But there have been rumblings that they're trying to squeeze their alumni for more donations.

Agreed on most of these points, though there are other things to consider.

The curriculum (don't know much about NJ or stonybrook, but I like Tufts shortened and integrated pre-clinical curriculum, with anatomy integrated as well), the facilities (Tufts are brand new, I've heard Temple's are very nice as well, once again don't know about Stonybrook or NJMS), and how you feel you'd mesh with the student body.

For me, when looking at the most important factors, In order of importance I'd say

1. How happy you feel you'd be at this school. This includes things like location, facilities, and student body, and is a bit less tangible but in my opinion the most important.

2. Cost. Very important, but i'd rather spend more on a school I'd enjoy than less on a school I'd dislike.

3. Prestige. It does matter, but is lower down on my list than it might be for others.

4. Everything else

And I agree that Tufts location can't be beat. I've got a Temple interview scheduled and I was told to bring a flak jacket for that part of philly.

Sooo... just called the admissions office and the woman I spoke to said they send out interview invitations until the end of february. So it seems there is still hope yet for an invite.:xf:

Excellent, so there is still some hope left for us pre-interview people.

Yeah, I got accepted to the MD/MBA and now am writing my app for Fletcher MA. 😍

Could you tell me how your acceptance for the dual degree came? I applied MD/MPH and no one has heard anything. Maybe MD/MBA's come out first....

EDIT: I just called the admissions office. The MD/MPH decisions will be made sometime in Spring.

Thanks for this message holyhekshler! :xf:

is it weird that i haven't heard anything from this school? when do they stop interviewing?

Did everyone receive the financial aid package from Tufts?

The paperwork? I just got it online.

How are you guys filling in the financial part (w/o your W2 and income taxes done)? Are you just sending in estimates?

I'm not sure if I should wait to get all my info in or just submit stuff with estimates....

I've got no W2s, so its easier for me.

If I were you I'd just wait until you've got everything - the deadline isnt for another couple of months.

O congrats on the MD/MPH acceptance. I guess they send those out in batches throughout the year as well. Thanks for letting me know.

Accepted the MD/MBA position. Excited. Going to start studying for the gmat now

Should we make a class thread or facebook page? Is there already one?

Congrats!Seems kinda backwards to be accepted pre-gmat. Is your acceptance contingent on passing or getting a certain score on the gmat?
