I have this question about the MCAT scores they accept. do they accept august mcat scores?

"The latest date that the test scores can be submitted and verified in order for your application to receive full consideration by the Committee on Admission is August 31, 2009."

I'll get my score mid-september, so i'm nots ure if they'd consider it.

Based on the statement you pasted I would say no your scores won't work. Perhaps you should call them in case that info is outdated or somehow incorrect. :xf:

Crap! I didn't realize this! My scores are being released this week! What do you think? Should I send an email?

I don't understand. The materials are all due January...

NotSur, I completely agree. As for whether it's outdated, it actually came in that "UPDATED" e-mail about the supplementary instructions, so possibility seems unlikely. Has anyone talked to Tulane about how definite they are with this deadline? I'd call them, but i can't do so until tuesday because of labor day @_@

also, "full-consideration" is somewhat vague. does that mean earlier applicants are favored? or that they simply won't consider later mcat scores? hmm

Oh I never even read that. Figured you got it off the website.

yea. this really sucks. i just completed my tulane secondary, and unfortunately read that garbage. hope it's not true

I sincerely hope this isn't right... it just doesn't make sense with their deadlines! My MCAT scores didn't come in until 9/1!!! So that means I can't be considered if it's true! Do any other schools do this??

Only way is to call the lady and check. We don't know if it means MCAT "taken by" Aug 31st or "scored by".

No love from Tulane is driving me a little nuts. It's like my app has disappeared into some abyss. No complete email. No interview. No rejection. NOTHING.

Do you guys think this sounds OK (not too much b.s.)? I'm trying to state why I believe tulane's MD/MPH is sweet.

Ever since undertaking a Tropical Medicine course at my University's medical school, I have been drawn to Tulane's 4-year MD/MPH program. I believe that my interest in behavior leading to my psychology degree, as well as my interest in health and disease leading to courses such as classes on Neoplasia at the world-renowned John Doe Cancer Research Center and Neurodegeneration in Disneyland's academic teaching hospital Mickey Mouse Medical Center, along with my interest in improving the health of populations, provide fertile foundation for training in public health.

I don't know about the content but you better cut that second sentence into a few sentences. 😱

They sent me the same thing so I emailed the dean of admissions and she said that it's more of a strategy thing. You will still be considered...don't worry 🙂

I would focus more on one or two things that are directly related to public health and why those make you interested in the MD/MPH combo, as now it seems like too many things in one paragraph. Behavior 👍 but maybe make it something more along the lines of 'how behavior influences choices about healthcare' or 'health promotion' or 'shapes health and illness.' Interest in health and disease is probably universal for MD folks, so what about the courses and experiences that you're mentioning relates to improving the health of populations, specifically.

I'm a public health/MPH type, so that's where my advice is coming from. However, I think you'll probably be OK whatever you decide to put, w/in reason. Good luck!🙂

thanks so much for the help! It'll definitely be considered. Did you apply here too for the MPH?

Happy to help. Nope, already MPH'd, just applied the general route.

Okay, I have a question... my AMCAS verified on 8/27, and I have yet to hear from Tulane. Is this bad? Granted, I still have one LOR to come in, but I figured once they got my MCAT score, I would get their secondary. How long did you have to wait? Do you know what the hold up is? Have I already been rejected (silently)??

I was verified 8/19 and got my Tulane secondary on 8/25. My guess is you'll get it this week.

My AMCAS was verified on 9/1 and I got the secondary on 9/3. I have all of my LORs and MCAT however. I don't think they reject anyone pre-secondary, but I would definitely call.

Where do you check your status? When I log in, I only see "thank you for registering"...

Their status check if it is one doesn't make sense. Thank you for registering? Gah I love Tulane

i'm in the exact same boat as you. i emailed last week and no response yet.

Just got rejected....my first one...🙁
I am still hopeful though

I got an email today with the subject "IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM TULANE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE" I figured it was my complete email and hoping that it could be an interview invite. I opened it up and read the dreaded "We regret to inform you..." I was pretty excited about my chances here and would have loved to attend.

To those keeping track, I submitted my secondary late July. This was the first correspondence I received from them.

Good luck to the rest of you still in the running!

rejected. good luck to everyone else!

RE-JECTED!! E-mail. 3.9, 39... just kidding 😉

You guys are scaring me. Glad you can find humor in the situation. Does anyone know if they've handed out interviews to those not applying EDP?
Sort of interesting they would reject people before handing out interviews.

I'm not EDP and I got an invite on 8/19 for 9/18. OOS 3.9, 34.

yikes . . . i've been discouraged by my lack of emails today, but i guess in this case it's a good thing.

sorry to all of you who got rejected. 🙁 i didn't submit my secondary until the first or second week of august so i am guessing it will be at least a couple weeks til i hear anything . . . did you all submit in July?

Rejected. Whoo-hoo! No, wait...

Ya me too ... I didn't get a complete email until Septmeber 3rd. Did those of you that got rejected today get that?
Maybe I'm on hold :/

I didn't get jack squat until today.

nothing yet here . . . at this point if they're going to reject me i'd rather just get that right off the bat! the complete email will just get my hopes up.

sorry again to all of you who got rejected. i am scared, i am holding out a lot of hope for Tulane and with 2 rejections and no interviews so far . . . well it will definitely sting to get an outright rejection here 🙁

anybody still waiting on a complete email from them?
