got an interview at baylor Wed. Nov. 19 just waiting for houston now...
The wait was punishment. SA does not like to be snubbed, once interviews are given, even by superstars. It is one of few schools that do not appear to mind cutting their noses to spite their faces.
An excerpt from an e-mail I just received from Dr. Pierpont (UTDB-Houston) concerning the admissions process in regards to Hurricane Ike--
"With fewer sessions having been completed, we will be making significantly fewer offers than we have made in recent years on December 1, 2008. Please be assured that our process will run its full course in time and we will extend all of those offers that we would have made otherwise."
1. For those waiting on Houston, this should come as a breath of fresh air. 😎
2. Does anyone else think this could result in Baylor and San Antonio filling up most of their next class with the first round of offers? Just a prediction.
🙁 I wanted to hear back from them so I could be happy Dec.1st.... Oh well, I guess I will just have to be patient.I Got same email. 🙂
i think baylor doesn't like my major and I! 🙁
Sounds like you've got an interview in January. Is that the whole email?

hopefully not too many as I will be interviewing in Jan!
i had interview last week so i hoped they send out enough acceptances to accept me though haha
GOOD LUCK ON UR INTERVIEW!!!![]()
How many of you CAN'T STAND Texas Tech or all the people on their bandwagon? Just thought I would throw it out there since some of you are bound to feel this way. Man, Texas has one bad game in their ridiculously difficult schedule and Tech wins in the last seconds because one rookie d-back forgot how to tackle (and one how to catch a tipped ball) and all of a sudden they're the second best team in the country. I can't wait for OU to destroy Tech in Norman, Oklahoma. When that happens hopefully Texas will be the highest ranked Big 12 south team in the BCS and play in the conference championship, Mike Leach will get deported back to Mars, and Micheal Crabtree will finally fail that steroids test. Oh yeah, and scheduling 2 of your teams 3 most difficult games as home, night games, using officiating crews that OBVIOUSLY call the game in your favor, and winning them does not make you a great team Texas Tech. We'll be sure and return the favor next year in Austin. Hook 'Em.
Thanks!
How was your interview? What kind of questions did they ask? Just curious...there is probably a forum for this already but any help would be appreciated.
it was good, it all depends on who you get for ur interviewer, but it seems like all interviewers are pretty nice!
oh and you should go over all the questions people posted on interview feedback...all the questions that were asked during my interview were from there...Make sure you have good answers for ethic question!! i think almost everyone got the question. good luck!👍
all of you who already have or will be interviewing at houston on a Monday (there are only monday and some friday dates) I saw you (or will see you). Creepy eh?![]()

i got an interview from columbia, but not houston or baylor. what is going on here.
I wonder how many acceptances are gonna be released on dec 1st.
around 30%
It was the same 2 years ago -- Houston plans to send enough acceptances to only fill 30% of their class on December 1st. With that being said, some of the same 30% will also be accepted to Baylor and/or San Antonio, and so they will have to make a decision, thus opening a spot up at whatever school they decide not to attend.
No -- what I mean is that Houston will send out enough acceptances to fill 30% of their class. This does not mean that they only send out 25 acceptances. They will send out enough acceptances to fill 25 spots. Not everyone they accept on December 1st will choose to go to Houston. Schools always do this. They have done it for years -- they send out the number of acceptances they believe it will take to fill however many spots they want to fill on December 1st.
Hypothetical scenario -- let's say Houston has 100 spots in their class. They want to send out enough acceptance to fill 30% of their class, so 30 spots. They do not just send out 30 acceptances, they might send out 50 (I don't know how many) -- but let's say they send out 50. They know from previous years experience and trends that not all 50 will choose to go to Houston because they have acceptances elsewhere. With this scenario, they predict that 15-20 will not choose to attend Houston, so then they have filled roughly 30% of their class with December 1st acceptances. It will fluctuate from year to year at every school, but nothing so dramatic that they will have over-filled their class.
San Antonio sends out around 120 acceptances on December 1st every year. They only have room for 95 students in the class. They know from experience that not all 120 students will choose to go there. Not even 95 of these students will choose to go there. They might fill 70% of their class, I don't know. Some students will hold a spot until accepted somewhere else, others will be accepted to multiple schools on December 1st, and choose to go somewhere else.
FYI, if I remember correctly, Dr. Pierpont said at my interview it usually takes about 170 offers to fill the class.
EDIT: nvm
Anyone have any idea how the Texas schools handle their scholarship offers and what kind of stats typically obtain one?
Unless Houston has changed in the past 2 years, they offer scholarships in the summer right before school starts. Dr. Pierpont said something along the lines of not wanting students to choose the school just because of a scholarship, but because they really want to be there.
Baylor and San Antonio offer them with acceptance letters. I was offered a scholarship at both schools -- $2500 at Baylor and $5000 at San Antonio. These were both merit-based scholarships based on my undergraduate grades and extracurricular involvement.
😱 so houston sends out only about 50 acceptances on Dec 1st.....????????????????????????????????? man that's little...
read closely what I wrote -- it gave a hypothetical scenario
I don't know how many acceptances they send out, I don't think anyone does, all anyone knows is that they plan to send out enough acceptances every year to fill 30% of their class on December
furthermore, some people will be accepted to multiple schools on December 1st -- I was accepted to all 3 schools on December 1st, and sent in a declination letter to one of the schools within a week... as the schools receive declination letters they send out more acceptances, hence rolling admission... so even if you are not accepted on December 1st, you might be accepted by December 12th or so if someone already sends in a declination letter, it's not set up where only so many people get offers of admission December 1st, and then there are no more offers sent out until January 15th
However, if you are accepted on December 1st, you have until sometime in January to make a decision/put down a deposit -- a school cannot rush you in that respect, but if you are accepted to multiple schools, (school A, B, and C) and you send in your declination letter to school A, B before the "deadline" to make a decision, once those schools receive your letter, they usually send out another acceptance to someone, they don't have to wait until January 15th or whenever it is
