2009 vs 2010 examination cycle

I just missed the deadline for the 2009 examination cycle and have to now wait until October and sign up for the 2010 cycle. Does this literally mean I won't be able to take the exam until the year 2010 or does the "2010 cycle" actually start a little earlier (at the end of 2009)? Anyone know?

Not to worry, spoke with folks at USMLE/NBME and they said the earliest you can sit in for 2010 step 3 examination is November 1st 2009. Hope this helps answer your question. Good Luck!!
