2009 wait-list blues thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was offered admission to the Indiana University of Pennsylvania PsyD program this afternoon after being on the waitlist for what seemed like forever! Thanks to everyone for their encouragement during this stressful time 🙂 Hooray!

I had the waitlist blues for 2 months and recently got into my top choice! Thank you so much to all who have kept the forum going. I found out about this website mid-way through the interview process. It took me some time to make a post but I have appreciated knowing others are going through this too! Thanks to each of you and good luck getting into and succeeding in grad school!

Has anyone heard anything about the Virginia Consortium wait list? Fingers are crossed!! 😛

I declined two programs yesterday.

I hope it benefits someone on this list! :luck:

has anyone heard this notion that schools may offer admission to wait-list students AFTER the april 15th deadline has passed? I was talking to my advisor this morning and she sort of guaranteed me that I wouldn't be hearing anything from my prospective school today. She says that it will be in the next couple of weeks, if not later?

I'm dubious as to the validity of her statement (I mean, she is a phd) but the letter I got from the school said I would be notified BY april 15th... so I'm wondering what you all think?

I'm hoping and praying that I hear from my school today and that this is all a moot point, but I thought I'd get some other people's perspectives?
Thanks!

got accepted off the waitlist to my top choice! /happy dance!

best of luck to everyone. we are still in the 'hot zone' for waitlist clearing so let's all keep pumping out the good vibes!

Congrats, Bigheadben!

All of you who are still waiting will be in my thoughts today. Just remind yourselves that it will all be over soon, and I hope it's a happy ending.

Yesterday (after much deliberation), I declined my offers from Yeshiva Clinical PsyD and Pace School-Clinical PsyD for anyone who may be waiting to hear about getting in off the waitlist for these schools.

Good luck!

I declined Wright State last night, so I hope that someone hears from them today! Best of luck to you all! 🙂

I just wanted to let you know that as far I know, you can still hear from them after the 15th. I don't know how it is for phd, but i know this is for sure true for psyd programs. I am on the waitinglist myself and the admission lady told me that she will hope to get back to me by the 15th, but it might also be after that b/c many people do not get back on time. In fact, she also said that if someone decides to drop after, I could be informed as late as one week before school starts in the fall..so don't loose hope.. I'm still hoping myself here too...

I keep going up to people and being like "I hate today." Everyone's response was "oh. 'cause of tax day?"
I forgot it was tax day. Clinical-Acceptance-Deadline-Day has been all I could think about.
Not hearing anything is the worst. I need to hear. Either way...
Anyone heard anything about American?

Waa.

Thanks for the info Hopefulgirl84 - it's not a psyD program, but a school psych phd? I dunno if that makes any difference, but it's encouraging to know that I still could get accepted now that the 15th has officially passed 🙂 Let's not lose the fire, fellow wait list hopefuls!! 😀

Don't give up hope just yet! Your school must be waiting for someone to make up their mind. If they turn it down then they may need time to regroup and give you the offer. Then you have a certain number of days to accept/reject (maybe a week or 10 days- make sure you ask) At this point it might be that no news is good news! They are required to let you know in a timely manner. Chin up!

I got an email today saying I got accepted to LaSalle Psy. D. after being waitlisted !!

I didn't even get any information on where I was on the list during the who waiting period. All they said was we won't figure out anything until April 15th. I wasn't expecting to get accepted at all!! I didn't even get an interview at any other Psy. D. program I applied to.

There is hope after all! Congrats to everyone who got offers!!

:soexcited:

I am on the waiting list at Yeshiva Clinical PsyD so that could be good news for me that two people I have read on this board have said they turned them down. Also a few questions about being on a waiting list for a program, when should I expect to hear a decision and is there anything I can do to advance my status on the waiting list(sending additional statements, letters of recommendation or anything like that?) I got a letter saying I was placed at the top of the waiting list but I don't know if that means at the top or like top 5 or what?

In relation to my last post is it okay if I still have not heard anything about my waiting list status to call the school and ask what's going on?

I would definitely contact them... especially because it is Yeshiva. It seems like things in their admissions office can get really disorganized. I was holding an offer from them for a long time just because they took so long to get back to me with information on multiple of fronts. Get someone on the phone if you can. They take many days to respond to emails.

I did call them today and they said I will soon be receiving a rejection letter🙁 so that means no doctoral programs for me.
