A mass communication to all members of the admission committee would not be advised, nor would a mass assassination. If you are trying to contact someone in particular (such as the person you interviewed w/ and can't remember their name), just call the office and ask.

interviewed on tuesday....

Not even fair how much I loved it!!! Amazing. The dean was probably the nicest, most down to earth, interesting person ever. First interview I've been to where they REALLY know your application. I mean EVERYTHING. They really took the time to get to know you which was so nice! Students loved it, i like the new curriculum I've never seen anything like it honestly

Too bad this is way out of my league... An honor to even get to interview. :xf:

anyone who is waiting their interview, you're in for a great day.

Oh man I can't wait, I'm even thinking about coming up a day earlier so I can spend some time exploring the city.

Definitely recommend that. I had never been to NYC before when I interviewed... fortunately I got to spend a little more time there since had two interviews, but even with four days I didn't have that much time to explore the city. The subway makes it ridiculously easy to get anywhere and do anything.

I interviewed with you on Tuesday. Now I need to stalk your previous posts and figure out who you are.

I liked Columbia, but not nearly as much as you did. I'll see what happens...if by some miracle I get an acceptance, I'll definitely go to revisit. But during the interview day something about the school just didn't click with me. It's such an amazing place but I'm not sure I'd fit in.

haha hmmm im not sure who you were either. I need a clue.

I'm the ridiculously short chick with nothing interesting about her, but a russian literature nerd. And I understand what you mean about something not clicking, I've had that at other schools. Here and Cornell are def my top choices though!

I think I know who you are. I was the ridiculously stupid chick who thought it was a super good idea not to wear a coat outside.

lol ahh yes I remember you! and holy god it was freezing. ugh. best of luck to you, let me know how things turn out!

I got a better vibe at Cornell than at Columbia...May be it had something to do with the fact that I ran into a few kids from my undergrad there...This whole thing becomes more and more subjective for sure...

Sometimes I catch myself assuming that everyone I talk to online is a guy. Don't know why that is.

A Father and a son are driving fast on a highway. Suddenly the car swerves and they have an accident. The father is killed instantly. The son is still alive but in critical condition. An ambulance comes and rushes him to the nearest hospital. At the hospital the head of surgery is called upon. The surgeon examines the boy and says that, the boy is in critical condition and will need to be operated upon immediately to save his life, but I cannot operate on him because he is my son!

Explain

Dear P&S, this non-rolling thing is hurting my soul.

Thanks

The Surgeon is his mother.

Also:

A doctor puts on a dress and high heels in the morning, catches a cab to the hospital, and proceeds to visit patients. No one is surprised or shocked. Explain.

...I think these riddles were tougher 10 years ago. Still, a surprising amount of people can't figure it out nowadays.

Honestly, my first response was that the boy had 2 daddies....

I suppose that is the more 2000s response, whereas "the surgeon is his mother" response was more 1990s. haha

Absolutely no word since I sent in my secondary, but I just received an email encouraging me to apply to their Nutrition Program. I'm guessing that's not an overwhelmingly positive sign. On the other hand, I'd make an excellent nutritionist. Stop eating so much. Damn, I'm brilliant, that was straight improv right there. Thank you, Columbia, your condescending career advice is almost worth the absurd price one pays to apply to your esteemed institution. You'd think a couple hundred bucks would at least warrant the dignity of a timely rejection.

Ah, sorry, feels good to vent 🙂. Congrats to those of you that got in! Maybe I'll catch you walking by on my way to nutrition class.

i would accept you simply based on the lullz i got out of this post.

but i don't think anyone has officially gotten in to p&s yet

The average MCAT for that colossal waste of money is a 30. That's better than some medical schools.

Ah, didn't even realize P&S wasn't rolling... it is conceivable I am not quite as heartbroken as I let on. I'm not gonna lie, I have no idea what wanderer is saying.

I have no idea about nutrition recruitment, but it may be entirely unrelated to your application.

Interviews in in mid February usually. They keep applications open for consideration until decisions are made, so there is still time to be invited. Don't hesitate to send supplemental information that can help their decisions.

Until March?? But they send out decisions on March 1.

My bad. I took a quick look at last year's thread. The last interview was on 2/23, and the last invite was on 2/3.

I guess the hope is slimmer than I thought 🙁

lol I just got the email from Columbia about their nutrition program

edit: just called the admissions office. They said they are done interviewing for the Bassett Program.

thnx for posting. what about the md program? are they done too?

Lol yea I also got the nutrition program email too and lol'd.

Haha, I got that email last year. I think they just send it to all current senior undergrads who have expressed interest in the health sciences some way or another. It doesn't have anything to do with if you already applied to their MD program or not.

Based on last year's thread or did admissions mention this on your interview day?

I would much rather good news come unexpectedly than to have a miserable day of waiting/disappointment. And now that the cat is out of the bag I want to know if a March 1st without good news is trulyy a bad day. Know what I mean?

Based on my interview day, they MAIL out decisions on March 1. So you won't get a decision on that day, but shortly after.

Decisions are mailed out. They send them on March 1, so depending on where you are in the country, it will take possibly a few days to reach you. Also, there are A LOT of letters (over 6000) and they do everything by hand, so not everything goes out at the same time. In other words, just because one person in your state/region gets a letter doesn't mean you aren't going to get one too. Please forward frustrations on to the United States Postal Service. If you are in Canada, I believe I remember something being said last year about FedEx.

I heard they weren't letting Canadians in this year?

If that is true that's quite the change (or am I getting lolololololed?), because in the past Canadian applicants have been considered for admission on the same standard of US applicants rather than as international students.
