for those waitlisted did you guys get the email about being reevaluated later? or was the waitlist email totally different

it said something about being seriously competitive and put into a competitive applicant pool. it then said they would reevaluate you after more interviews have been processed

anybody who interviewed on 9/24 or after hear anything? They told us we might not make the first group of decisions. But they also told us we would here early november.

isn't this a hold not a waitlist? I thought when you get waitlisted you're given a number or you only get in when ppl drop out, whereas for ppl on hold theoretically an acceptance could come relatively soon

i think you are right...at least at most schools. being waitlisted means you can forget about them until the class is full and people start withdrawing in the spring.

competitive applicant pooled. I was disappointed to be honest, i felt really good about this one...

interviewed sept 7

+1, although I can't say I'm too surprised. I interviewed 9/22.

Still slightly optimistic about this one though. GL everybody!

+2. I just felt like I really fit in with the school and I thought I nailed my interview. Oh well, I'm going to start writing my letter to get off the waitlist now.

...speaking of which, what exactly should these letters entail? Why I love the school, why I'm a good candidate, anything else?

oops double post

maybe any updates as well, in terms of new things you've done.

btw do you know who we address it to??

and which email??

From what I remember... I think we are supposed to send it to Sullivan but to have "Forward to: Dr. Lauerman" in the title since he is the Chair of admissions. (I remember this being the case but can anyone confirm?)

Sullivan's email is in the Georgetown Program Summary booklet they gave you on the interview.

Yep I think you're right. I emailed her ([email protected]) a question about the letters, and this is what she sent back:

Dr. Lauerman will probably not begin reading the letters until January. Please send the letter as an attachment to me. I will print it and give it to Dr. Lauerman. If you have any questions or concerns about the letter or the school, please email me.

yea i knew it was something weird like that.

thanks for clearing that up.

hey is anyone else interviewing at georgetown on the 23rd? PM me if ure interested in splitting a room. Im not crazy - just trying to save some money

Hey guys, quick question. Is it worth sending in a secondary at this point? I really like the university and I definitely show that through my essay, but I'm not so inclined to throw away $130 if I'm not even going to be considered due to how late in the app process it is. My stats are 3.6s/3.75c and 33Q and I've got decent extracurriculars. Any input would be awesome.

Rejected!
34R 3.6 OOS
interviewed 9/20
Good luck to the rest of you!

Rejected.

I was accepted a few weeks ago, but didn't feel like Georgetown was a good fit... planning to send a letter to them later in the week to withdraw... and open up spots for those wait listed!!

Good luck all.

hey guys i'm apparently challenged...just got the "a decision has been made, please login email" but i don't see anything there. my status is still "completed 7/22/2010". Maybe i'm in the wrong place? Someone teach me a lesson, por favor.

I got the same thing too. I logged in like three different times just to see if I was being an idiot. Clicked on almost everything I could. Still nothing.

I was just going to call tomorrow, unless someone else was able to figure out this riddle.

I emailed them back explaining my difficulties and here is there response:

"We are expecting the Committee to release a decision this afternoon or tomorrow. It appears that an e-mail went out in advance of the decision actually being posted by the Committee. We are working on fixing this problem.

If you do not have a decision posted by tomorrow, please let us know.

Thank you for your patience as we work out some kinks in the new application system.

Sincerely,
Office of Admissions

Georgetown University School of Medicine"

So yeah, let's call tomorrow if we still don't have anything. I agree, I clicked on every link on the page without success haha. keep me posted if you find anything out.

Interviewed 9/1. Felt OK about the interview. Had a pretty chill 4th year MD.
33O, 3.5 sGPA, OOS.

Rejected on 11/2. Pretty disappointed, as Sullivan made it seem rejection after interview was really rare. I wonder if its worth it to call and find out what happened? I'm still interested in the school, I really admire their program after touring and reading more about it. I've already accepted another school. What do yall think? Anyone rejected that has called back?

My girlfriend's friend's sister called after being rejected pre-interview and they looked at her app again. She got waitlisted and eventually got in. Does it have to do with how interested you are in the school?

Thanks for the info. Good luck with your decision tomorrow! (hopefully posted in an easily found location).

I've written down the numbers from Sullivan's talk, I'm not going to give the numbers specifically just because she mentioned they change around and she doesn't want anyone to post them on SDN to get everyone panicky. But from the numbers she gave, within every interview pool that gets reviewed by the committee (I dont know how frequent adcom meetings are, but I'm guessing one a month?) about 50% get waitlisted. The rest is divided between acceptances and rejections, with rejections being the smaller pool of population. I did not get the feeling that it was "really rare" as the percentage was significant. If you know someone who got re-reviewed after a rejection, and you'd rather go here than the school you have been accepted to, then why not try your luck?🙂

ugh rejected. interviewed 9/23.

i already got rejected from 3/6 places i interviewed things are not looking good. 😡

Accepted!

OOS/3.9/32R. Interviewed in late September.

I enjoyed the school a lot during my interview, and I am seriously considering going here. Would love to be in DC.

Good luck to everyone else!

Congrats! I'm glad we both had good news waiting for us after the all-too-early e-mail. Cheers 🙂

dang do you have any clue why you think you've been rejected at those 3 so far exiled?

well gwu was a waitlist, umd and gtown were rejects. i dunno why i was rejected really... the interviews went alright but i guess they needed to be SUPER DUPER AWESOME in order for them to accept me lol... the system is so dumb because it's totally subjective. apparently if you have something in common with your interviewer, that really bumps up your chances. i dunno i just have my state schools left so i'm hoping i get at least one acceptance from those. i'm so bummed but anyhoo thanks for asking doctafuture

ha def man. it's beat. so many factors. all i can say is look at what you think you were doing right and wrong. are you sure you weren't doing anything wrong? i was rejected post interview but I think I know what I was doing wrong. Just fix it if there is anything! kill the rest of the interviews.

well what do you think you did wrong for the one post interview rejection? i know my gtown one didnt go so smoothly because my interviewer would pick apart all my answers and it threw me off guard so i stumbled a bit. i know i nailed gwu interview... and umd was just alright... i actually finished up all my interviews except for one state school, and i dont think i'll be getting anymore invites unfortunately... everyone is telling me how my chances are ~so great~ bc most of my interviews were early in the season... but it doesnt seem that way so far! haha

has anyone who was accepted received a letter/package in the mail?

has anyone who was accepted received a letter/package in the mail?

I haven't. Do we actually receive one?

The acceptance was found in my secondary app. A link brought up the official letter, and there was an option to print it. Then, accepting the offer was also done online. So, it doesn't seem like you would actually receive anything.

sooooo seems like people are hearing back about decisions. i interviewed at the beginning of october.....i've heard nothing, and my online status is still just completed. anyone else in the same boat?

I interviewed at the end of September (early 20s) and just heard two days ago. I'm sure you will hear pretty soon. Doubt it's time to worry yet.

does anyone know when the second batch of offers are made?
Did someone say we're reevaluated in Jan?

Ugh, rejected pre-interview. Damn it. I love this school and really worked hard on the secondary.
