Thanks! Thats much appreciated. I only applied to three schools and HMS is first of the trio of interviews thus nervousness has described my emotions as the date is fast approaching. Good Luck to you!

WOW u applied to 3 schools? Either you have ridiculous stats and EC's or you are one crazy sono***un. Either way, good luck to you cos applying to 3 schools is just nuts

You should get a confirmation email AND a complete email.... my complete email didn't come for a while.

ok, but what is a while? I submitted my secondary and should have been complete at the end of september....

I submitted mine Aug 22 and got a complete email on Sep 7. Interview invite came almost two months later, though.
From what I have heard, the complete email can take anywhere from 2 weeks to more than a month.

Unfortunately, they don't have a status check page. I would suggest emailing them. Although with thanksgiving break approaching, they may not be working as much on processing applications right now. In any case, an email can't hurt.

email sent.. And just curious, harvard doesn't send out any rejections until march right? So those of us that don't get an interview invite by jan pretty much know we are rejected.... Seems like i already am rejected since people here have invites and submitted later than me. blehhh. Anyone with an invite mind sharing their undergraduate institution, gpa, and mcat?

Hey everyone, I am interviewing at Harvard HST program next tuesday (11/27/2010), but I haven't read much about it here on this thread. So does anyone mind sharing their experience about the HST interview and what kind of questions are to be expected? any information is appreciated.

out of curiosity, when were you complete?

Is it possible to cancel one interview (NP or HST) without it negatively affecting the other? I don't think I can come to Boston for two days and I have a strong preference for one of these.

Hey!
I actually took a year off after undergrad and I'm doing research at HMS. During my time here this year, and the two summers I spent doing research here I got a chance to talk to admissions for both NP and HST. There is NO crosstalk between the two at all, so canceling one of the interviews shouldn't have any affect on the other program.

Stats: 3.97 cGPA, 36R MCAT, International (Canadian)

Complete: October 21
Interview Invite: November 29
Interview Date: December 21

You might think about trying to schedule both the NP and HST interviews for the same day. This is what my friend did when he interviewed here last year. You'll have to skip the tour and will end up interviewing for one school in the morning and the other in the afternoon.

Has anyone sent an update letter pre-interview and received a confirmation of its receipt? I sent them one about two weeks ago, but never got a confirmation.

First time I post in this thread... I got an interview invite on Nov 29th.
There's always some hope!

Hi all,

I was wondering when the people who most recently got interview invites were scheduled for? I was scheduled for Dec 17 but have a conflict.

I haven't sent one yet, but am planning to. Did you send yours via snail-mail or email? And did you send it to the Dean or just admissions in general? I'm still kind of confused about the update process.

I never got a confirmation - sent it to the regular admissions e-mail address. I didn't bother confirming receipt, I'm sure that they're busy enough as it is!

Speaking of receipts, do we need the original one to get a refund for the secondary fee? Or can we just show our bank statement?

Just got a complete email.. what the heckk, does this mean they looking at my application for the first time?

Come on Harvard. Give me an interview. In retrospect, maybe I should have applied to NP AND HST. Damn 6000 character essay put me off that day and I just went NP.

HST is a lot more competitive. For the entering class in 2009, (~30 students) 3 had Goldwaters and 5 had Rhodes, and only 2 came from public institutions (ASU and somewhere else).

😱 Well I'm glad I didnt waste my brain cells on that question then seeing as my chances were pretty much 0 .

Where did you get the information? Could you provide a link? Thanks!

Congrats. Looks like all the interview spots are almost gone since they only interview until January (Or is it that they give out interviews until the end of January 😕)

At my interview, they said they interview till February, so I think there's still a good shot!

Ok then. Lets keep hoping Harvard shows us some love.

I heard of a girl at my school who interviewed there in February (last cycle). I'm pretty sure her application was completed during the summer. She got in!

So there may still be hope.

Does anyone here know the odds of getting in after getting an interview with New Pathway? I'm a Canadian so I don't really know much about wait-list movement etc. in the states. From what I can see its about 1/5, is this accurate?

Thanks!

Oh, I I wouldn't be worrying too much if I were you guys. I still haven't heard back from any of the other ivy league schools I applied to. I'm pretty sure they extend invites until the end of January, so don't fret.

It was like 1/3.7 for both pathways combined in 2009, but they interviewed 830 and accepted 224 according to one website. This year they received more applications but will only interview about 800 applicants, so the odds might be slightly better this year. This doesn't account for HST candidates, but if it did, the odds could improve significantly for NP.

It's more 1/3 for NP only. I don't have specific numbers here with me (if you want them I'll have to dig it out of my Harvard interview folder) but I remember when I did the math on interview day it it's very close to one in three.

Hey Choo, where did you hear they would only interview 800? I'm not doubting, I had just always heard they interview 1000. Plus my interview packet didn't have any specific estimates like that. Thx

Well, the interview day is kind of all a haze now, but in the morning orientation Ms. Gibson stated they were interviewing only 800 this year.

Yeah I can confirm this; she said Harvard received about 6000 apps and would only be interviewing around 800 this year.

Hey well those odds are a lot better than I had originally thought, thanks for the replies guys. Now if I could only stop thinking about my interview and study for my inorganic final on Wednesday... lol

Hi Everyone.

I was just wondering if I should be having concerns regarding the status of my application, or if I should be taking any proactive measures.

I was marked completed on October 8. I am a Canadian university student, and our application process is significantly different than the American system, so any help that you could offer would be greatly appreciated!

Take care
