you're not the only one Beeweew. Im still waiting as well but Im sure I will not here back til March 15th. Good luck :luck:

Kaji! If your method of keeping calm is going MIA, then I'm on your side 😀. See you on the 15th! BUT let me know if I can bribe you to join us before then 😀😀

It's been awfully quiet in here today. I know there were a bunch of book suggestions in here but I can't find them. Does anyone mind listing a few titles that were mentioned? I'd really appreciate it. I'm trying to do as much leisure reading as possible before we all buckle down in those textbooks.

P.S - Does anyone know when the packets are supposed to come in the mail?

How's everythin goin OneMike? Well, as for the packets, mine came in about 2-3 weeks after I spoke to Ms. Walk and was accepted. Yours should be coming in pretty soon!

And I think I read that someone suggested for us to read The Alchemist. I think I'm going to actually get it. I've been meaning to read it for years!

Hey whatupron! Everything is good in So. Florida. How about you? Thanks for the book suggestion btw! I'm going to see if I can pick it up tomorrow

@ whatupron, does it take that long for the packet to come?
When I called in to hear the decision (monday), one of the staff told me that I should get it by the end of this week, mhmm
But then again, I live quite far (California) so I guess I have no choice! 😀

Another question: I'm planning to live in student housing, but my partner will also move to D.C with me. I am wondering if they will allow couples who are in a committed relationship to live there together. 🙂

Hey, guys!

Just thought I'd throw in a few suggestions if you all are looking for some good books. I read A WHOLE LOT so I thought I would pick a few good books for those interested. Enjoy:

1. Me talk pretty one day, David Sedaris - Very Funny!
2. A thousand splendid suns, Khaled Housseini - My favorite book, memorable
2. The kite runner, Khaled Housseini - Amazing book
3. The Broker, John Grisham - Suspenseful! I read this while travelling a few years ago, couldn't put it down!
4. The reluctant fundamentalist, Mohsin Hamid
5. The interpreter of maladies, Jhumpa Lahiri - Compilation of thoughtful short stories (also The Namesake and Unaccustomed Earth by the same author)

I suggest looking them up on Amazon to see reviews and what people thought about them! They're all pretty decent books.

Congratz Beeweew! Maybe you'll find out before March 15th. I sure hope so!

Dr.D, Voyager, OneMike thanks guys!!
Yeah I expected to be in committee this week b/c I interviewed with voyager and queensfinest and they heard back this week (I assumed they didn't have time to go through all the files from our interview day). And yes, I might have to wait till mid March, but it's all good 😀

Hey, Dr. D did bring up a good point. Has anyone thought about housing and bringing their car? I know that as an MS-1 and MS-2, there is no designated parking lot and you are limited to parking on the street. Anyone know any cheap places to live in MD/DC/VA?

From what I have heard...we won't really be needing a car until 3rd year when we start doing clerkships in different hospitals. Parking will definitely be a hassle since DC is so dense and e metro seems to be a primary source of transportation.

Coming from CA , I will definitely be out of my element without my car(everyone drives here!). I am also wondering about places to live and prices...and if all these places are metro accessible?

Also I think i read somewhere that the library is not open 24 hours...will we have a place to study all night on a regular basis?

Thanks everyone! Good luck to everyone who is getting ready to take their last set of midterms.

P.s. I just bought The Alchemist. Definitely liking it so far and I see why you guys recommended it :prof:

Hey, guys!

Being from the DC area, I would like you to know that having a car is not necessary. The metro system is very reliable and used by thousands of people everyday for commuting (I am one of them since I work in DC but live in Maryland). HUCM is also metro accessible via the Shaw-HU Metro stop on the green line. So, make your housing and transport decisions based on these facts. There are many apartments/condos found along the metro lines, some cheaper some not so cheap. Most of the students I met during interview day told me they lived in Hyattsville, Maryland which borders DC. Parking is also something you need to think about. Unless you have a monthly contract (which tend to be pricey), street parking is not allowed more than 2 hours in most areas of DC (and you have to pay for those 2 hrs). Anyway, I hope this was helpful. If you have some questions about the city or anything in the area, I think I might be able to answer so let me know!

Anyone know if student-housing allows couples who are in a committed relationship to live there together?😀

Good luck!!!!! I hope we both are accepted on March 15th 😀😍:scared:😱:luck: <-- these are all my emotions right now lol

I know there were several suggestions regarding off campus housing some time ago, but would anybody mind reminding me of some? I wanna start looking into where I wanna live :-X Thanks!!

Hey BlkQueen, Good Luck with the MCAT 🙂. Its a challenge but once you get it behind you you'll feeling like you made a major accomplishment.... are you planning to apply for 2012 in Decmber of 2011 😱? If so, I think you should plan on a pplying a little earlier... around July or August 2011 would be better.

Just got my package!!!! :soexcited::soexcited:

Thank you god, thank you everyone for all the support!

I just got the one e-mail on Friday that my folder was out of committee. But like I said, I kind of expected to be reviewed last Thursday. I think you might receive a notification after review. Hang on, it's almost here!! I'm sure we'll probably find out around the same time b/c you interviewed a week or so after our group.

Congratz Dr. D! I'm still waiting patiently for mine. My mailman is sick of me asking for it. I'm down in FL, so being on the east coast, I at least was hoping it would come today
