i'm pretty sure you need a bachelors to get into their COM, as with any US medical school.

Yeah I think Ms. Walk mentioned over 2,200 and still counting, not too sure though. Thanksgiving is coming! 😀
 
Yeah, I'm pretty sure you need your bachelors before you matriculate... the only exceptions are those students from medical schools which have the accelerated programs (6-7 yr), I think.
 
Well I emailed her one time and she mentioned that number. She didn't specifictly said that 2,200 secondaries were received but from the way she was describing, I'm guessing its around that number. 🙂
 
shot in the dark: does anyone know what day of the week the committee meets? i hope it's friday.

I am shy 3 units to get my degree and I am having a ridiculously difficult time trying to get into the class that I need. I have a couple back up plans, so I should be ok no matter what but I was just wondering because on the website Howard has a minimum number of units that you need to have taken but it does not say that you need a bachelors.

I am pretty sure that they meet on Thursdays...
 
Interviewed on Oct 6
Received "out of committee" email on Nov 4th
However email said
We will email you when the decision letter has signed signed by the Associate Dean and mailed (on or around the 15th of the next month[which would be dec15th]). *When you receive this email, you may call to find out the decision. **We are not able tell you the decision before the letter is signed.

I'm not sure if it was a typo or not bc there are people on here who found out the decision on Nov 15th & they interviewed after me or the day before me. Did you guys that got accepted call or did you receive your letters in the mail?
 
I had my interview last week. I think visiting the school helped me to like it more. The student pop seemed good, I liked the people that I met.

I found out from some students while I was there that not ALL apps make it into the nov 15/16th pile. A student told me that to call about your decision is appropriate. Perhaps that will help.
 
For those of you who interviewed, how many other applicants were there interviewing as well?
 
There were about 10 people in my group. Best of luck to Nov 16 interviewees! You all were great!
 
I sent my app in a couple weeks ago, still not complete. I want to call but I know they are backed up. I an a re-applicant, i got waitlisted last year. Hopefully, they will give another shot.

Quick question Cmaster, for last year, did you send in your application around the same time as you did this year?

Nope. Last year, I sent my amcas in on the first day and I sent my secondary mid-late August. I was complete early sept. and I was invited for an interview about a week later... I went to undergrad at howard so I think they rushed my file to interview..... Hope that helps
 
after waiting for an interview for soooooooooooooo long dont have the motivation to go!!!! its only a few metro stops away but might cancel to give my spot to someone who needs it...

I am still finishing up my undergrad. I have one semester left... just trying to figure out my student loans and finding a good place to live in DC. Definitely going to Howard. I was really impressed with the campus when I interviewed there.

Hey, DoctorDang. I'm on the same boat as you. I also have ok stats and a graduate degree with a very high gpa but I haven't gotten any interviews yet... It's kind of sad cus Howard is my top choice and I'd give anything to get in! I'm keeping my hopes up. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know you are not alone. When was your app complete at Howard?

just got my out of committee email!!! (Nov. 22), interviewed Oct. 5th.. now I just gotta wait until December 15th 🙁 lol.

I'm so upset. Just found out I was placed on the alternate list AGAIN! Was places on the alternate list last year too. I really thought I was going to get accepted this time because my interview went great. Plus I thought they would show me some love since I am an alumni. I applied & interviewed really early. My application didn't change so I thought they wouldn't interview me again if they didn't want me. I guess I was wrong. Howard is my first choice. I'm so crushed right now. The alternate list isn't ranked & I don't know how many people get accepted from the alternate list each year. I pray that they accept me. This is so frustrating.
 
Althavian, don't lose hope! the bright side is that it's not a rejection and acceptances off the waitlist do happen. i'll be sending out the good juju for you.:xf:
