Just found out that they need 4 letters of rec - 1 Bio, 1 Chem, 1 Physics and 1 Humanities.

Looks like I'm out for this school....wasted $$ on the secondary apps.

Did they just email you saying your secondary is not complete/rejected because you did not have the correct LORs?

I just realized that I only applied with 2 Biology Professor LORs and have sent them an email asking if my application is complete -- or if I should send in a third recommendation (from a biology professor).

I think the understanding has always been that if you have 3 science letters of any type your application is OK. They didn't mention this anywhere on my secondary when I applied (I didn't see LOR requirements at all).... so I forgot... so maybe we will learn if 2 is now OK? I'll get back to SDN.

i gave them 2 science letter + research mentor + some MD i did volunteer work at his clinic + a volunteer coordinator

so as u can see they r pretty flexible

I read online "Generally JMC prefers a composite letter written on behalf of the applicant by the college or university's pre-health committee, if there is one. Some schools do not provide this service but offer to collect individual letters of recommendation and mail them to the medical schools. If individual letters are sent, we prefer one biology, one chemistry and one physics and one humanities. You may direct exemption requests to the Committee on Admissions using the optional information section on the Secondary Application."

So it seems that if you submit a composite letter you don't need to collect a letter from one biology, one chemistry and one physics professor... is that a correct assumption? or should I use the optional informational section?

has anyone actually been able to submit their application? my credit card keeps getting rejected. And i know the billing address matches the address on the application

Yes, I have submitted the fee and have confirmation too. Maybe try a different card?

I've tried a different card also, I guess I'll just have to wait until Monday. Maybe payments don't go through on Sunday?

Just got an email from them telling me my letters - 2 science + research mentor + nonscience + former employer - were good in lieu of the 3 science letters.

The server bugged out on me Thursday night and I wound up calling the admissions office and they told me that it had gone down for a few hours. I resubmitted again Friday morning and all was well. I wonder if maybe that happened again, for all you folks that posted on the 25th about having problems with it.

I was poking around last year's Jeff thread and it looks like we could start getting interview offers this time next week!

hey guys - just submitted my secondary and paid. my status hasn't changed - i saw that other people experienced this as well. but how long did it take for your status to change after you submitted? and it seems the general consensus is that once you're complete on the status webpage you shouldn't be expecting a "complete" email from Jefferson? Thanks!

A couple days. I submitted Friday morning and it changed sometime during the weekend, I think. MAYBE by Friday night. And I didn't get an e-mail either.

What is their maximum on letter of recs? From what I've read on the forum, I do not have nearly enough as in 1 bio, 1 chemm 1 physics.

Where is this information on their website? I can't seem to find it.

on the snail mail version of the secondary it says those are the requirements

Can anyone post a link to the online secondary??

I received an email from Jefferson with ID and PIN but either I'm blind or they've done a tremendous job hiding it, I cannot find the link for the online secondary 😡

Hey,

doesn't seem like anyone responded to this yet. I struggled with this for like half an hour navigating their site, trying to find the damn online link. Click on the link found in your email, and it's on the right side of the screen in a sneaky little menu bar.

It's basically a big picture box that says "Apply Online More info...." on the right side.

has anyone actually been able to submit their application? my credit card keeps getting rejected. And i know the billing address matches the address on the application

don't leave spaces between the credit card numbers.

My preferred/mailing address is incorrect! They left off my apartment number. It was automatically entered for me on the online secondary. Anyone else have this issue? I emailed admissions.

This worries me greatly!!

And I'd really rather not mail them the application, since it takes long to mail and the PDF doesn't leave you as much space to write in the additional comments section.

did you guys answer this question :If there is any additional information you would like to provide please include it in the box below

what did you guys talk about? was it pretty much why Jefferson? And how long was this response?

My mailing address is wrong online also -- I gave AMCAS my office and not my home address (I was considering moving while applying and didn't want to have to notify every school about the change of address)... and well campus addresses have alot of information, so Jefferson just totally nicked out the actual street address, haha. I am sure if they actually mailed me something they will notice that... but I do plan on sending an email soon.

I would suggest just applying online and sending an email to make sure they know that they don't have the correctly written address.

I gave them additional information about me not included in my AMCAS and also updated my activities. Didn't mention why Jefferson - I applied so to me that means I am interested in your school, invite me to an interview and I will tell you why.

Does anyone know how to check the status of your LORs (if they've received them or not)? Or do you just wait to get an e-mail whenever they do and you're complete?

AFAIK, I don't think anyone on SDN has gotten an "application complete" email from Jefferson.

It does say on the status check website whether they have added your LORs to your supplemental application or not. It takes a few days after submitting for this to happen, or at least it did for me.

Mine doesn't say anything about my LOR even though I assigned it over a week ago in AMCAS. It just shows:

Application Status:
AMCAS Application Received? Yes
Jefferson Secondary Application Received? Yes
Jefferson Secondary Application Fee Paid? Yes

I called to ask if the website should update with LOR and the person I talked to said no. so strange.

strange...I got two "invitations to complete the secondary" emails, exactly the same email. The second one was after I had already submitted the secondary yesterday, and the three checkboxes say yes. thought it was a "you're complete" email....nope.

Same. I got another "invitation" about an hour or so after submitting the secondary and having the website say YES for everything.

As if Jefferson's website wasn't frustrating and unclear enough, even the emails don't make sense.

So I'm not the only one.. I haven't even had a chance to fill our their secondary and they sent me another email lol.

I did the same thing.

where do i enter my credit card information? I filled out everything, clicked submit, previewed it, and clicked submit again. then i got a thank you for submitting page.

😕

They had a lot of issues with their LOR status last year, so I think they removed the option this year to stop people from calling their office all day to check on the status of their letters.

lol little did they know that would cause even more calls to the office about the status of our letters...

I was looking over my Jeff app today and realized that they have my 'Preferred Address' down for my 'Permanent Address.' I'm moving to my Permanent Address in a month, so I looked up the AMCAS correction procedure and it involves resubmitting my whole primary application - do you think I should just call the Jeff admissions or resubmit? Will it put my application at the back of the line?

Is anyone applying PSAP? what are the stats of people who typically get accepted and do they look for anything in particular?

I'm in the same situation and I emailed AMCAS about it...they said it shouldn't affect my secondaries, but I'm still a little wary...

I have done this. The resubmission is just to state that everything in your application is correct. Just change your address and resubmit it. It doesn't change anything else. 😉

Hey guys, is the error from cut and paste or 4000 characters different from getting your credit card denied?

I've copied and pasted it quite a few times at 2000 and 4000 character length and previewed it fine (although the paragraphs were lumped into one). Everytime I have tried to submit and pay it with three different cards - mine, my mom and my dad's. The payment hasn't gone through with any of these and I'm not sure why.

It seems like a few of you guys have different billing addresses than the one put down as preferred, so would you guys say its fine using a credit card that doesn't have the correct address or a different name on the card?

help is much appreciated; i've been trying to submit for 2 hours now and its been frustrating

It's been a few weeks since I submitted, but I'm pretty sure that it's a 2000 character limit and that you have to manually type it in - copy and pasting will give you an error message. Don't ask me why! No idea about the payment...read the fine print?

Mattatat, that sounds really frustrating. Have you tried completing the application in different browsers? Firefox and IE should both work fine, if you aren't using one of them definitely try it in one, and if you are, try the other.

If none of that works, you may try calling the admissions office to see if they will take your payment manually or something. That's bizarre.

I've been using firefox, but haven't tried internet explorer yet.

I'll most likely try calling them tomorrow.

I don't get any errors with pasting my ~3800 word response, its just that my payment gets denied. I was wondering if its a case of pure credit card issue or if the error could possibly be due to the character limit/pasting.

From an earlier post it seems like if it were the character limit/paste it should show up during the preview, but i guess since i make it past that it must be the payment. mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

I second Evergrey, that does sound pretty frustrating. Just as a note, I copied and pasted my response from word to notebook, then to the application and it was over 2000 characters (I'm not sure if it showed the number of characters or not). I did not experience any of the problems that you're having. It seems like it could be an application service or payment issue on their end. If it's still not working it would definitely be better to call than wasting hours trying to get it to work.

Good luck!

Verified last week...I WANT THIS SECONDARY! Where is it? 🙁

3800 words? That's like a ten page double spaced essay. Are you serious? Do you think admission committee will welcome reading a thesis on your life when they have 5k other applications to get through?

Haha. Right.

I feel slightly less weirded out. I ask because I know personally someone who is planning to send her 27 page essay to Temple as a 'supplement'. I'm trying to convince her it's a waste.

Wow. That's some craziness. Unless it has the formula for a cancer cure included in there it is most likely going to get filed in the round bin.

But who knows... I stopped guessing how these things worked a long time ago, that includes listening to how people say I should and should submit my application, etc. So, if she really wants to send it in, then let her. Maybe one of the adcoms will have had a rough day and position him/herself down into a nice brown leather sitting chair and pour off the remnants of a bottle of Courvoisier into a studded ice laden tumbler, as s/he is gripping the firm dried leaves encasing a Cuban cigar. Then just as s/he is about to retrieve a volume of War and Peace, to thumb through for the 200th time, s/he happens to glance upon your friends manuscript. Initially doubtful as to its intent, and skeptical of a student that detached from reality, the adcom begins to read the behemoth. A smile traced in the shadows emblazoned upon the adcom's face by the flames of his/her study fire as they flicker and tease the sides of a once magnificent evergreen, now dried and awaiting its release from this world. The edges of the adcom's now curling lips revel in a life so complete and complex as his/her eyes begin to traverse the pages of the manuscript, so engrossing that they seem to be turning themselves.

As the sun begins to rise and pour in through large bay windows of the office, slowly etching a world that was destroyed by the last flicker of a dying flame and the dull thud of the manuscript as it fell from the adcom's hand as s/he drifted off into a dreamless sleep. As the rays of light, seemingly powered as if by a force of the gods from above, began to expand through the room, finally revealing the manuscript, now marked by the adcom's tears of joy and sadness. The light slowly begins to illuminate the text that could only have been placed there by a stamp carried by the few worthy to wield the almighty power of an adcom, ACCEPTED...

I'm guessing this is the dream world your friend envisions... Let her dream... and who knows... It could happen... 🙂

I'm trying to prevent the more likely scenario of them throwing out the application after rolling their eyes. I told her she should at least prepare an abstract if she's going to do it.

yeah i meant 3800 characters haha.

Anyway, if anyone is wondering it went through this morning. Must have been a sunday thing. So as it stands, submitting up to 4000 char is fine
