I'm pretty sure Embark doesn't belong to Sinai... it's an application service that Sinai uses. Kind of like the system that Columbia, Brown, etc use.

Yes, but that doesn't give them an excuse to use our private information for advertisement purposes, IMO.

That is the default. It does not imply an interview invite. Hopefully you have a date listed next your letter download though...I only got letter download confirmation recently around December 6th.

Congrats! I haven't heard of MSSM interviewing for waitlist in January like some other NYC schools, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

It's definitely not just for waitlist spots. If I remember correctly from years back, they were still sending out some invites up through the beginning of February (although it could have changed), so it's still relatively "early." That being said, like any school with rolling admissions, the chances of acceptances may be less as time goes on.

I was complete on 12/14 and invited for interview on 12/30. It was a late addition for me because I didn't know too much about it. I've grown to love NYC and after I looked into Mt. Sinai, I really liked it too.

What do you mean by "complete"? Did you receive some notification, or are you referring to the date that they downloaded your LORs?

Looking back at my records, I submitted August 14. My LOR's are marked as complete as of 9/21, but I remember that all the letters were listed as received well before that. I never received a complete e-mail.

Basically, I was complete a long time ago.

Wow. I submitted maybe a couple of weeks after you, and my letters weren't marked "received" until December.

I was complete in August and was offered an interview on March 1st to interview on March 8th. I was then accepted on March 24th - so you are not interviewing for the waitlist! Does anybody know when we have to get the toxicology test done by?

Don't worry about doing that until you know you are matriculating.

I was wondering what you guys thought about Mount Sinai...be it applicants or people who have attended Sinai for Medical School. Any Pros/Cons? How it compares to say state schools. How it compares to prestigious schools. Is it about the location? The education? The price? Etc. Anything and everything will be helpful.

I lost my financial aid information packet for MSSM! Super fail. I kept it around downstairs to look at, because out of other ones I've seen, this one seemed the most straightforward. then I lost it 🙁

would anyone happen to have an electronic copy? maybe some neurotic (but amazing) person who scanned theirs in? I guess I can ask admissions next week to check to see if they got my update letter and maybe they can email me a copy of the fin. aid packet too....they're going to be tired of me!

Dr Gerrard, I have not submitted mine after hearing what other people did. I guess I am still waiting for some of my nonrolling schools before I get the test done. Have you done yours yet?

Don't worry about doing that until you know you are matriculating.

Well..me too. Got waitlisted🙁 As discouraging and stressful this process may be, let's keep our heads up and work on what's most important, the qualities in us that will allow us to be good doctors and not the need for our desire to live for respect, wealth, etc. I'm sure we will all make fine doctors wherever we end up. And I hope we all do get into some waitlists...but until that time comes...lets not be too discouraged 😳

Just an FYI, it's always best to wait a little bit to send update/interest letters. They tend to carry more weight closer to May 15th and that's the time when you want your name in the adcom's mind anyway.

My letters were marked complete 12/13 and I just got an interview invite a couple of days ago, so I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing.

Hi all, I am frantically finding to find a hotel near campus as my plans recently fell through. Does anyone know a relatively cheap hotel near the Mount Sinai campus?

Any advice would help.
