just got an email from nyu.

"This will inform you that we have received all forms and credentials required to complete your application. The Committee on Admissions will notify you as soon as any final action is taken"

application submitted aug. 19.

anyone else get this e-mail and any idea what it may suggest? from the looks of things other people are getting interviews who submitted around the same time.
 
is it too late to fill out the secondary? Is it still worth it?
 
Hey guys,

I just got the invite this morning. These things come at the times when you least expect it!

Is anyone scheduled for 10/13?
All their dates are pretty much full around Columbus Day weekend, which is a bummer.
 
Do you guys know if NYU is good with In the area emails? I got an interview at Columbia set for dec. 1st and was hoping to hear back from nyu and possibly combine trips since I'm from CA
 
Hi all! Just wanted to say that I'm interviewing at NYU in a few weeks and I am really excited to see the campus, the students, Bellevue, and whichever SDNers will be there. (Now that fall is here, everyone's patience is starting to wane, so I'm trying to forcefeed some positive energy in.)

If it helps, I was complete for over 2 months before I heard anything. The waiting game SUCKS. Hang in there, everyone. 👍

I believe that is the generic "complete" email. I received mine four days after submission, which likely infers that admissions is much busier now. NYU doesn't offer invites in order of submission as religiously as some other schools. So, I think this means you have been added to the pool of applicants from which they choose interviewees.
 
Invite today! I sent an in-the-area email last night, but I don't know if the two events are connected 🙂

when was the in-the-areatime period, and when was your invite? if they were for the same time, then they probably were connected, lol.
 
They assigned me to mid-October, I rescheduled for the week of Thanksgiving.
 
Interview invite today! Complete about three weeks ago. Assigned for mid october also. I think I am going to keep one of those dates !
 
is there a difference between "Application Processing... you will hear within 4-6 weeks" and being complete? I've had the app processing status for five weeks now...am i still not complete?

Yes, there's a difference. You'll receive a complete email and your status will change to "Application Complete- Under Review."

The status updates are done manually at NYU so it's possible that you are complete but haven't yet been notified. If it still says "processing" after the 6 week mark, give admissions a call to make sure nothing's wrong with your app. 🙂

Don't worry. It's just app processing prime time for the adcom. I bet you're fine! Good luck!

Does anyone know if NYU adheres to the completion date in terms of when they send out invitations. I was complete Aug. 2nd, does this mean a rejection?

I don't think so. I was complete in early Aug, got an interview invite right around Oct 10 last year, interviewed around Oct 20, got accepted in first wave in mid December...and am currently attending, loving every minute of it.

As you can see from my example, they had a really short turnaround on interview offer and interview dates offered, so be aware.

Good to hear! I love this school and it is one of my top choices. Complete 8/2 and haven't heard back but I won't freak out just yet.

I submitted the 1st week of September and just got the complete email yesterday. They're probably doing them in large batches at a time..You should hear soon
 
If you are going to be in the area, definitely send them an email. They encouraged it last year.

Did anyone recieve a positive response for the in the area update? I sent one a week ago and no word still.
 
Int Inv despite a really grammatically incorrect/repetitive sentence in my secondary. Have hope y'all!
 
just got invite an hour ago!!!

complete email on july 23 so it seems that they are doing small batches out of order
 
Just got an interview invite today. They gave me the option of Nov 1st - Nov 12th, which really doesn't work for me. Reading above, it sounds like people have had an okay time getting another time frame...are they pretty flexible about rescheduling? I'd like to go up in December if possible.
 
Yay! Interview invite! Complete 8/11 (when I received their email), CA, 3.99, 40. I can't wait to see NYC!🙂

The status on my application says "Application in Process- You should hear from our office within 4-6 weeks." The date submitted is 8/31. I haven't received a complete email yet. I know it says they will contact you in 4-6 weeks, but it's been 5 weeks and no word. Anyone else have this issue?

I submitted my application early-mid September and I received a complete email this week. I would wait another week and try contacting them. I hope this helps!

My status changed from the "4-6 weeks" message to "Application Complete - Under Review" today...

I'm excited and terrified at the same time. NYU is high on my list, and I love the look of the school from what I've seen online. C'mon New York, show a Bostonian some love! 😀

I don't know if there is a status checking page per se. I just know that when I go back to the link for my secondary, there is a little status thing at the top. That could be what everyone is talking about. I am not 100% sure
 
Would any current students or applicants who have interviewed mind briefly describing the interview day? I'm coming up in a few weeks, and have only a vague impression from the invitation materials of the sequence of events throughout the day. I'm planning to catch a bus home at Penn Station at 4:30. It sounds like the day will be over around 2 or so, but I just wanted to confirm with anyone who might be more familiar...

I had a morning interview, so here's my perspective of the day. The interviews are pretty short (roughly 30 minutes), so depending on when you interview, there might be some down time before your tour of the medical school (11-12). Lunch (12-1) with all the applicants while one of the faculty gives a presentation about the school and curriculum, then a tour of Bellevue from 1-1:30. After that, the morning interviewees were done. I think the afternoon interviewees had the chance to tour the medical school building later in the day. Hope that helps. GL! 👍
