Invite today for Dec. 1. Complete mid-August also.

congrats 🙂 same here, only for the week after. :luck:
You think we'll miss the potential 12/15 notification?

EDIT: Just dug through the 2009-2010 thread. December interviewees don't find out till march. At least, that was the case last year. Happy early holiday season!

Yea I think the latest I saw was someone interviewed on 11/20 found out in December.

I also did not see a single person accepted in the March round. Does that mean December interviewees are just going for waitlist spots that early?

I has a conflict for my date and was able to move up my interview to 11/15. Pretty happy about that.

did anyone who sent an in-the-area email get some kind of notification that admissions received the email?

Accepted this morning!! 😱 It was a complete surprise because the site says they only admit people starting in mid-December. I'm not sure I will completely believe it until I get the letter in the mail. So excited! 🙂

Could it be a mistake that the system released some acceptances early? Wierd, but congrats.

I don't know exactly how its supposed to work this year, but last year everyone who interviewed prior to November 20th was given a decision in early December. Interviewees after/near to the Nov. 20th date had to wait till March to hear the AdComs decision...So if its the same this year you won't actually have to wait that much longer! 🙂

Not that I stalked the entire 2009-2010 thread or anything, but the 1st decision date last year was Dec 18th, with a heavy skew on October interviews (though, yes, up to Nov 20). Feb 2nd was the next notification date and March 1st was the last, though everyone who wrote on SDN on March 1 was a WL. If the above data point of today's notification is legit, then we can prolly ignore everything I just said.

Wait to see if it was a mass email kind of thing, NYU always seems to send acceptances at once to a large group so we should see some more posts sometime soon if it is. It could be some kind of computer error thing that let someone know too early.

At my interview, they told us one big batch would be going out before Christmas, and another in February. They DID say, though, that they were toying with rolling admissions so some individuals may hear back earlier and on their own.

Accepted yesterday! I was completely caught off guard by the random mid-afternoon phone call from a 212 area code, and didn't quite believe what had happened until I received the e-mail confirmation of acceptance today from Dean Genieser. Interviewed on 10/8, but was also surprised to be notified so soon. Good luck to everyone else still waiting to hear back!

woah! congratulations! I'm dying to hear back from NYU, but definitely didn't think that people would be hearing back before mid december.

did they make it sound like it was an exception? or that they would start contacting applicants now?

I thought first acceptances weren't going out until December??

I was in a bit of a daze at that point, so I don't remember hearing half the things they said. In fact, I almost hung up thinking it was another telemarketer, lol. However, the impression I received was that they were releasing an early round of acceptances to certain applicants. As to whether or not this is the wave of pre-Christmas notifications everyone's been expecting, I'm not completely sure but I doubt it. My guess is news will begin to trickle out from this point onwards.

I think if it was there would be a huge wave of posts and not just 2.

Yea it did. My status page now reads:

Just got an interview invite for mid-December. I'm so excited! This school was a huge stretch for me so they must really consider your whole app. I was also complete 8/2 so don't loose hope if you've been under review for a long time!

Just in case I can't get a student host, what hotels do you all recommend? (inexpensive is good)

thank you!!!!!!

A) When's your interview? &
B) do you want to be close to NYU or are you flexible about the area?

PM me if you want...

Yea, I'm wondering if we can get some outside confirmation. Last year on the WCMC thread someone posted they got an acceptance in early December (WCMC only accepts in late December and in March). A couple of people called up and found out that no acceptances were given. I'm a little skeptical considering the two posters here have a combined 6 posts.

pre-med types are a vicious lot. congrats on your acceptance. good luck to everyone else.

Do you guys think it is still possible to get an invite with an above average gpa/mcat (33/3.85) but a 8vr?

My interview is tomorrow afternoon, so I will see if they let us know anything.

called in and it is true
now im hoping for a 212 phone call!

my status just changed from something like "interview completed- final decision pending" to just "final decision pending" (i interviewed over a week ago)
did anyone else get this?
Im assuming it means that the committee made a decision as the earlier message was probably when my interviewer submitted the interview report
those that were accepted, did your status change to this before your final status change to "accepted"?

Interviewed here today, for second year in a row. Seems to me this school really has their act together now with the new curriculum (seems to be the best integrated one I have seen) and they have received big gifts so they seem to be rolling in money for improvements. New lounges are nice, new dorms are better than Rubin but still not great, but also some major hospital additions coming soon. Also seems to be about the lowest stress setup. Pass/fail, anatomy taken in between units alone and without other coursework, mostly cooperative environment.

it didn't sound likely, though they originally didn't know that it even happened (they had to ask others)

mine changed as while about a week after I interviewed from "final decision pending--interview complete" to "final decision pending"

i dont think it means much, since its been like that for weeks

also, look up a few posts, one of the accepted people said that it changed to accepted, but only after they called

I was wondering if anyone who has already interviewed can let me know what the protocol is for storage on the interview day. Can you check bag and/or coat? And will I even need a coat for walking around on the tours and stuff? I have just been bringing a portfolio to interviews but am from the west coast and don't have much experience with east coast winters. I'm interviewing in a few weeks and am assuming it's going to be very cold...

yes they have a separate room for interviewees to store their luggage, etc.

I'm not a frequent poster on SDN but I've been trying to stay with a student host (e-mailed multiple people) but haven't gotten any responses except for one saying he couldn't. Are there any current students who'd be willing to host me? I'm a male, interview Early December. Thanks!

i was so impressed with my interview day here! hopefully i'll hear back from them with a decision before february...

interview invite, scheduled for january 7th. very excited. i'm not exactly sure when my file was considered complete, maybe august?

any noteworthy/interesting experiences from people who interviewed already?

My tour guides seemed like lazy slackers. Bellevue Hospital is super sweet, though.

Had this problem at downstate. One of the guides said he never went to class unless it was manditory. When asked why they chose downstate, one said "because it was cost effective"; the other: "it's the only place i got in". Great job, guys.

i totally had this same experience at downstate. it was my top choice until i realized that the only reason the students chose the school was because of the cost. :eyebrow: such a let down.

ahhh i was complete oct 21. this makes me nervous. i hope they get to us! :xf:

I got a complete email Nov 19! Typically how long after that will they reject or invite you to interview? And how do they handle rejections? (i.e. tell you before interview season is over or after?)
