what time?GOT THE CALL!
from the dean, who wasn't my interviewer
int on 10/14 ish?
wowAccepted too! Phone call from Dean Geneiser (Not my interviewer) followed by e-mail. The call came in around four today, in the middle of one of my finals. I saw the 212 area code and it was TORTURE to finish that exam.
Interviewed 10/21
This is going to be one difficult decision.
coolAccepted
Interviewed Nov 3
Was reading this thread when my phone rang w/ 212 (4:44)
Still says final decision pending
From the Dean's office but wasn't my interviewer
if they have multiple people calling they have to split the list somehow.Sounds like they might be going in interview date order... anyone else get this impression?
ETA: Mattnumbernine beat me to it! Great minds...
Hmm I sure hope not. It doesn't seem like they could call all the people up to early November in the span of a couple of hours. Either it's reserved for certain people, or there's some other order.seems like they are notifying in order of interview dates
Hey guys. Not at my usual computer -- can you give me the status page link??
I guess us mid-Novemberers will be waiting longer. Congrats those who've heard.
Got a voicemail from a Joanne at NYU SoM at 4ish...no status change or email though and it's after business hours now...is Joanne one of the people doing the calls?
it depends how many people are calling and how many calls they needHmm I sure hope not. It doesn't seem like they could call all the people up to early November in the span of a couple of hours. Either it's reserved for certain people, or there's some other order.
It sounds like she is one of the people doing the calls. When did you interview?
They probably aren't calling people after hours. I wonder if not getting a phone call by now is a bad thing, or just has no meaning at all.it depends how many people are calling and how many calls they need
for example- if they are calling 200 people- then with 4 people handling the calls (we know if at least 3 people) at quick 5 minute calls would be about 4 hours apiece.
Being that the first call was at about 230, i believe, then we have another hour to go of calls.
If they are calling 100 people- then they should be done by now

Hmm, and some people who got the phone calls didn't get the emails so I'm guessing that they may still hand out some acceptances. I'm going to guess that 95% of the people who don't hear by the end of tomorrow are waitlisted or rejected.Again, I never received a phone call, but got an email around when the phone calls were being made. My status also changed on the secondary application page.

No email, No phone call, No status change = WL/Reject?
Okay I take that back. Still based on prior years, it doesn't look good especially when it seems a lot of people heard back today (this is assuming that the "to be continued..." in fact continues tomorrow, so if no one hears I'm not worried). This is how rumors start.
A lot of acceptances are sent out early, but all waitlists and rejections are sent out in March, so statistically speaking the odds are not in favor of someone who interviewed early and does not hear back in the initial batches.I've posted this before - I emailed NYU a few weeks ago asking "...I'm curious to know if everyone who has interviewed so far will receive a decision in December? Or do you only send acceptances?..."
Joanne McGrath's response: "All decisions will be made by March 1. Some acceptances will be sent out earlier."
So don't lose hope!
