does NYU interview everyday? I know that they wrap their interview season at the end of january...

so the invites are over? They would invite us and leave a month notice i assume?
 
hey everyone,

for those of you who are still waiting for an interview I was invited for one this morning. I was completed mid-august and the dates they had available were in between 1/18-1/28. Good luck!

yeah...i wonder if they are done with sending out invites then. usually schools do this in large batches at once, and i know for a fact that nyu finishes interviewing at the end of jan. 🙁

on the other hand, congrats huskie w/your interview invite!
 
Do they reject us pre-interview? My status still says File Complete- Under Review?
 
i think that unfortunately, if you don't have an interview by now, you're pretty much rejected.

I disagree with this statement. I mean, honestly, how would you know? Unless you work in the admissions office and know for a fact that no more invites will be offered, then it seems ridiculous to make this kind of a statement.

Also, since people who are invited to interview are given two weeks to confirm their interview date, it seems that the earliest the final invite would go out is two weeks after the last regularly scheduled interview invitations. That way, if some people either decline or fail to confirm their interviews, at least one final round can go out to fill the open slots. Based on the last claimed interview invite of 12/27 (or so), that pushes the final invites back to at least 1/10/11.

Disclaimer: My comments are pure speculation, based on the secondhand information/gossip/rumor provided by others on this site and a little from the NYU website. I have no inside knowledge of this matter, but remain optimistic for all who think they still might have a shot.
 
Yea but even if they need to fill say 5 slots of those who drop out, there is a pool of thousands of applicants who have yet to receive an invite. If the remaining chances are 5/6500, then ddalgi's statement seems fairly accurate.

At the same time, you can't get obsessed with a school pre-interview during this process. You really have no clue which schools will invite you to interview.

this is so true. I tried not to get obsessed with any schools before I interviewed there, but now the issue is getting obsessed with schools after I interview. NYU is a prime example, and it doesn't help that I might not hear back from them for a while!
 
All I'm saying is that it's not over til the fat lady sings. Miracles happen every day. Stay positive, folks! You might be pleasantly surprised.

too late.. i've been obsessed with Cornell, NYU, Columbia, and Mount Sinai for ~2 yrs, and was rejected by cornell just recently 🙁.

I'm just a brat.... After every invite I get I just want more. 😳

that's what i was told. they said something along the lines of they only have a couple-few invites left but i think those are for the people who are cancelling. if you look at last cycle's thread, you'll see that because nyu only interviews until end of january, they only/mostly review applications that were complete early. i don't think my application was even looked at cuz it was complete at a later date but who knows.

Wow. Got my invite a few days ago for the very end of jan. Im so so so excited to be going to nyc...I am lucky to have squeezed into one of the last interview slots. I would absolutely pick nyu over other higher ranked schools I've been to.

January wraps up interviews, just noticed on their site, so of course no more invites

Congrats a1b2 on your acceptance! To all others still waiting for an answer, I wouldn't expect one before Feb. The trend last year, as a mentioned earlier, was that after the initial December acceptances, the next batch went out Feb 1st, while a small handful of acceptances went out to URMs throughout January.

I just read last years thread last night. Appears that they do not review applications that were COMPLETE after the end of October. I do feel a little robbed of the secondary fee but given rolling admissions maybe I shouldn't feel this way. I def should have been more diligent about checking SDN 🙂. However, according Milton Friedman (for all you econ nerds out there 🙂), NYU should disclose this info in the secondary invite email.
 
first time interviewer didn't ask me anything about me. went in and he handed me a business card and asked if i had questions.. he was a nice guy though. great school too. i hope i get in... but i have no idea how interview went

That's weird. Maybe that means he's the kind of person that will give you a 10 out of 10 just because you weren't ******ed.
