I just called about Second Look Day because I got my confirmation
FYI dress is casual so no need to pull out your interview suits again (yes!).
Looks like it's going to be a long day, though. It's going to start at 8 and go until 6, so be prepared for that.

Yeah, I got that email today, too. I was surprised with how long the day is. What can they possibly tell us for 10 hours? Oh well, I'm still excited! See you there!

Has anyone here had any luck getting an interview after the "Continue to Review" letter? I am still waiting for an interview here. I called and they said they interview until the end of March.

haha no idea. I hope they go a little more into the curriculum and we get a little bit of a better tour, both of those were rushed during interview day. It seems like a majority of the day is going to be student-run, so I'm looking forward to that.

That is where applications go to die.

yeah I was on review for months and got an interview invite this morning

Got the background check email today.
REALLY hoping that it is an acceptance, not a waitlist. :xf:
I guess I will have to see when I check the mail tomorrow or Tuesday.

has anyone else not heard a peep from here since their app was complete? I haven't gotten a continue to review letter or a rejection letter or anything... I'm assuming (as I have for a while) that I've gotten a silent rejection... is there any hope? (OOS applicant)

They interview until the end of this month (according to someone who posted above) so it's not over. I received an interview invite 3 days ago. There's still a chance that they have a few spots left or that someone will decline/back out of an interview.

I just canceled my interview for March 23rd, so there's at least 1 interview spot available.

Same here... Just says I've been complete since forever ago...

I did get the continue to review letter a while back.

Has anyone ever received an invite after getting that letter?

Edit: Looks like dragonfly11 did, but it still isn't likely.

My online status still says this:

"Our records indicate that your application is complete, and is currently being reviewed by the Admissions Committee. You will be contacted by mail and/or phone during the next several weeks with its decision."

I'm sure I'll get rejected soon, but an invite would be a nice surprise.

For those who interviewed, what was the style of the interview? Two one-on-ones? Panel?

What was the overall feel of the interview? Casual?

I'd really appreciate it, I interview really soon and can't find this out anywhere!

Two one-on-ones. One of the two was the most casual interview I've had, the other was one of my more difficult, but still not too bad. Overall, it's a relaxed day, so enjoy it!

You are having quite the application cycle...congratulations on all of your acceptances. Is PSU your top choice?

Thanks! I have a few favorites, but I'm still weighing all of my options and waiting for financial aid packages. If I can relieve some of the debt I'm bound for, it will make any school that much more appealing.

Have you checked out the interview feedback section of SDN? Very useful information if you haven't already been there. They answer questions like yours.

I was accepted via snail mail on Saturday. I interviewed on 1/31 and am OOS. The letter was dated 3/3 and was postmarked 3/8. Good luck to all of you still waiting!

So do all of the acceptances/waitlists/rejections come to us through snail mail? Do we get an email stating that we have a response on the way, or do we just sit here and wait for something in the mailbox?

Ahh!! haha, that's going to make me so anxious waiting!!

If Penn state would be your first waitlist/acceptance that requires a background check, you will get a Background check email (since penn state requires that). I saw a previous poster had that same situation-- and that means that the snail mail results are already on their way.

All decisions are via snail mail. you dont get a penn state email prior to that

Well, it's finally here -- crossed an ocean, in a thin envelope. Alas, a "hold" notice from PSU. I am unclear about whether this is actually a waitlist since it states "This designation indicates that your credentials warrant further consideration as the remainder of the applicant pool is evaluated. You should be aware that a subsequent decision would be based on the information presently contained in your file with the exception of updated official transcript records."

I guess they don't take post-interview updates?! Waiting... ugh :scared:

Why is that? Wouldn't it save time, paper, and money if they just sent emails/updated the online status?

just cancelled my interview on friday if someone wants to move their date up

I find it odd that I still haven't gotten a letter in the mail yet-- when I got the background check email on Sunday.

Ughhh, just hoping this extra wait means good news! Anyone else had to wait a while for their decision? Interviewed 1/26

From everything I have read, getting the background check email means you are in somewhere. Congratulations.

Not true. It's sent for acceptances AND waitlists. That being said, I hope it's an acceptance for you!

I do not think Penn State uses a waitlist, only a "Hold" List, in which case a criminal background check e-mail is not sent. That being said, I am almost certain it is an acceptance.

Oh man, I really hope this is true! I am crossing my fingers for this :xf:

Just got my instate acceptance today though-- so if I get accepted here, it will be a tough choice.

You were right! I got accepted! Interviewed 1/26 =)
The letter apparently got sent to the wrong address, but I found out that I did get an acceptance that was supposed to be sent out in the beginning of March.

I really loved Hershey-- this is gonna be a tough choice for sure. 😍

10 hours? Yikes. I haven't received the confirmation or itinerary yet, but I'm planning on going. I may have to leave early bc I work Saturday nights...I hope I won't be missing anything important.

Just an aside, anyone know how Hershey is for cycling / trail running? I realize that that shouldn't be a major factor in my med school decision, but it keeps cropping up on my pros/cons lists...

You probably won't miss too much by leaving early. That's a really long day, and they probably expect a lot of people to leave in the afternoon.

As for the outdoor activities, from what I gather, Hershey is very good for running and biking. A student I spoke with told me he runs trails around campus every day, and I know for a fact that there's a bike path on campus, too.

Has anyone recieved the itinerary for the day or know where it can be found on the schools website. I'm also going to have to leave early and was hoping to see what I would be missing.

I didn't get the itinerary either..

I thought they were going to send it out about one week before Second Look? 😕

Accepted today, interviewed late Jan. Really liked PSU, but the price tag may be a bit steep for me as an OOSer. Will likely WD. GL to those on hold/waiting for a decision!

P.S.: PSU had a gnarly match list this year, go check it out if you haven't already.

Yea it was pretty awesome. I thought I would post it for those interested.

Does PSU normally do silent rejects? I'm wondering because I still haven't heard anything after submitting my secondary many months ago.

Well, from the last time I called, Penn State last interview slots were during the last week of March. Any news is usually given through snail mail. You will probably get something in the mail anytime from now until summer. Yeah, they are super slow.

do any current students have any recommendations about finding housing/roommates?

Just called the front desk. They said if you haven't heard yet, then you will definitely be hearing by the end of April whether or not you are accepted. Of course, expect this result to be through Snail Mail. Best of luck

Just withdrew today. Good luck to everybody!

Anybody been accepted off the waitlist recently? Hate that they don't take updates
