Sadly, I know almost nothing about basketball! :scared:

If I sat around ruminating about all the application stuff, and whether or not I will get interviews, I could drive myself bonkers. So, I just let it go and get other work done instead. Like playing guitar for a few hours (as I just did!).
 
Besides which, it looks like the schools I applied to generally don't get back to people for another month. :laugh:

I also have current graduate classwork to finish for this semester...
 
Yeah, when I was working on applications I thought it would be awful to be balancing school along with this process, but now that I'm done with apps and just waiting it seems like it would be a welcome distraction! Sadly I'm old, and finished my M.S. a couple years ago. Ahh well, as a previous poster mentioned, I'll busy myself with online shopping🙂

Hi,

I don't usually post but I've been reading all the threads regarding apps for 2011.

Should share that I applied to UW Madison for the Counseling Psychology PhD Program and got an email saying I was not invited for an interview. So emails about interviews should be sent out soon.

Oh well, waiting for the others!

When was the deadline for the counseling program?

I would recommend some mindfulness meditation personally. Of the two general varieties, trying to stay focused completely on your breath and letting go of any thoughts that pop up would be most helpful in this situation, IMO. The other kind, where you follow your thoughts but impartially observe them with a level of un-involvement, might make fantasizing (negatively and/or positively) about your current situation too tantalizing. 😉

I've found beer to be helpful when those thoughts pop up. :laugh:

The deadline was December 1st for the Counseling Psychology program at UW Madison so I wouldn't worry if yours is the 15th.
 
Wow - that seems pretty fast to hear back from a program.

Hopefully your other programs will turn out better interview results. Good luck and just focus on the ones you haven't heard from yet 🙂

I also received a rejection from uw Madison today. When I spoke with someone at the office in Oct they told me invites should be out by this Friday with the interviews on 1/14, which is also on the site I think.
 
I was recently accepted at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology clinical PsyD program. 🙂 I applied for the early (October 30th deadline)

I've received two interview invites in the past two days. Pretty excited 😀

Michigan State (interview date is 2/4) and Wisconsin-Madison (1/15)

Both are School Psychology PhD programs.

Can I just say, I'm sooooooo jealous that you guys are already hearing back from schools?
 
I think this threat is a very scary one. :scared:
As we may hear the results from here earlier than schools. But I guess it's still helpful to just wait if the results are out already, which is pretty painful.

Yep. I knew that I wasn't going to be admitted to a program months before the program officially let me know. (They waited until they conducted all of their interviews and sent out all of their acceptance letters before giving me the inevitable news.)

Without this site, I would have been completely in the dark.
 
Just got an invitation from Sam Houston State Clinical PhD program for an interview on 2/12. Very excited.
 
Ah! I didn't apply to Sam Houston, but now since interviews have started going out for clinical phd programs, I'm officially nervous! But congrats!

+1 Now that the first clinical invite has been offered my nervousness has just doubled! Let's hope we all start hearing REALLY soon!! :luck:
 
I got a phone call from a prof at a school I applied to today, and while it wasn't an interview (or even a screening phone call), it is messing with my head! Just the fact that they are affirmatively looking at my application kind of freaks me out....😱

I don't think it would really soothe anyone's worries to know what school it was, as it was clearly just a clarification call. I have no clue whether this means anything other than yes, someone has read through my application. 🙂

Granted, the knowledge that it wasn't tossed into the rubbish bin makes me very, very happy.

ETA: I just have to add a thought I had: this call was like in the movies where the researcher gets the first sign of alien life, and says, "First contact has been made!" 😀

I've had to deal with a medical situation with one of my children that prompted me to decide to only complete my application file at two schools, pretty much figured I had no chance, but was interested in these programs so what the hey. In fact, I've been conducting a fairly fruitful job search. I just got an interview invite email...😀 Decisions, decisions...

I heard that I got an interview from University of Texas Austin 12/16 and from Yeshiva about a week or two ago... hope this helps

I am guessing that SPGS applied to the school psych ph.d program because 1) their user name seems to imply "school psychology grad student"?, and 2) I also got an interview invite from UT Austin's school psych program on the same day.

Hope this helps...

I was wondering that too. I haven't heard anything either. Hopefully that means they aren't on the same schedule as last year, and not that we're out of the running🙂

I wouldn't worry yet there are a few other schools that also sent invites out last year early with no peep this year... Oklahoma State U clinical for one.

Not to kill anyone's hope, but I saw on gradcafe that someone had received an interview from Sam Houston today. Apparently they had over 150 applicants and invited 27 to interview. Maybe they are sending out the invites on a rolling basis?
 
Sorry! Austin and Yeshiva were for School Psychology programs 🙂
 
Hi guys -

It might be helpful to include the following when telling about an interview invite:

Type of program (clinical/school/counseling, etc.)
Degree type: Psy.D./Ph.D.
How invite was received: phone call from DCT/POI, Secretary; e-mail
Interview date

I think that will help everyone and will also make the list easier to understand. Please PM me with this info if you want your school added to main list.

Congrats to all who have received interviews already and good luck to those of us who are still waiting!

I am still enjoying the fact that all my applications are in and I have a free weekend😀

I just got my first interview invite! :laugh: Hoorah! Alright, here is the info:

University of Tulsa; Clinical PhD program- call from POI.
The interview is Friday Jan 28th.
 
I cannot wait until the waiting is over! I have not heard from any programs, and none of my programs have been listed here. Some days I seem to forget about the waiting, and it does not get to me. Other days (perhaps today!) I simply cannot wait anymore and I feel like I am going nuts!

Ditto. I am driving myself crazy by second guessing everything I've done, and parsing through each email correspondence for the tinniest bit of meaning!
 
Hey! I received an invite for the University of Southern California Clinical PhD program. The invite arrived via email on 12/19 from my POI. The invite is in person, scheduled for 1/13. There was no mention of a phone interview. Also, the email stated that they have rolling interviews and admissions.

psycfan1- Congrats! USC appears to be rolling because the POIs do everything independently. From previous years, they have sent interview invites out from before christmas to late January depending on the POI. I don't know if they make offers earlier, but you will never have to respond before April 15 according to APA guidelines.

To everyone- I am new to the forum, and I wanted to say hi. I have been lurking for a while, but decided to join. I am in the same boat waiting hear. Hopefully, we will all have good news soon.

ME TOO!! I am supposed to hear about acceptances from one of the schools I applied to this week so I am freaking out!!

I can't decide if watching movies is better or sleeping days away 🙂
