Has anyone had any luck with emailing students for overnight hosting? I've emailed the ones on the lists and most haven't replied and the ones that did are busy on that date =/

So has anyone else's complete status been gone for about a month now?
 
I think it may mean we're rejected, if they've already looked at our apps.
 
I was selected for an interview and scheduled one for Sept. 22nd, but something happened on the website and it never went through. I'm now interviewing mid-October. Anyone with experience know whether or not this delay will affect my chances?
 
I doubt it's a rejection. Considering that no one has gotten an interview in weeks, they are probably planning to send out a whole bunch at once.
 
hey everyone

I have a quick question.

I just made an account for SUNY Upstate, and I have to choose a program. It says "Select an Application Type"

The only choice for MD is "College of Medicine Early Assurance: MD"

Do I have to check this, even though I am not applying to Early Assurance? I dont see an option for just regular MD...

Last year when people were rejected it would say, "decision made". Unless they've changed it, I find it unlikely that you're rejected.

If im paying the fee using a credit card, do I need to submit the signature page?

I don't even know if I'm complete as I never saw my status. It just says Application Load Process, but that's been there since 8/9 for so. I don't know what's going on with my application at SUNY

My file is complete, but it still says "Supplemental Load Process." Are you looking in the right place? Under "Application Status," it says "Complete" when I login. Look above where it says "Application Data," and "Fall 2011" (not at the bottom of the page). It's kinda hidden, and I helped someone earlier in the thread that didn't see the "Complete" either lol.

Lol, yea, I remember when I read that post and was thrilled that I know where to check. Unfortunately I never saw Status or anything. So I don't know if they're checking my application right now or if I've been rejected or if I'm even complete

Oh I see, so it's blank next to "Application Status?" According to this thread, it means they're reviewing your application.
 
hey all, does anyone know what should we do if you are FAP?? do you still have to go through ecredit?? thanks!!

Here's the weird part, I don't even have the "Application Status" part. So right on top of Application Data it's just blank. 😕 I'm really hoping that it was complete and now it's being reviewed but I didn't check it early enough to catch the status complete part. Other schools using similar secondary application programs are very clear to let you know when you're complete...or they have an extra pop-up link for you to check the status. Mind games frustrate me
 
Is anyone interviewing on the 29th? If so, what are you doing about housing? I would want to stay with a student host, but the hotels provide free shuttle service back and forth between the campus and the airports. I'm trying to save money, but also trying to make things as smooth as possible.

I'm also interviewing on the 29th and I've emailed a few of the student hosts, but I've yet to get a response 🙁 I prefer staying with a host because I'm unfamiliar with the campus and I like hearing what they have to say about the school.
I went back to the admissions portal just now to check the student host info, but I've been getting this message:

The My Upstate Student Information system will be unavailable due to a system upgrade from Thursday June 17th @12PM until Monday June 21st @12PM

😕😕😕

EDIT: Ok, well the site is up again, and I think they've updated the contact information for the student hosts. The people I contacted before aren't on the list anymore...I guess that explains why I never got a response.

Hi all,

I was upset like many of you to read anxiousboy's negative postings about SUNY Upstate and although I don't know if his gripes are vaild, as a first year student I wanted to offer my perspective.

I have been extremely happy since starting at SUNY Upstate in the summer for gross anatomy (something I would definitely recommend by the way). I have not had much contact with the administration, but the students and faculty I have gotten to know have way exceeded my expectations. The people I have met here are genuine, warm, friendly, and motivated out of a passion for medicine and becoming great doctors (rather than scoring well on boards or beating out someone else for residency). I feel that this is an extremely supportive environment both socially and academically and I feel very lucky to be here. I also know that the majority of my fellow classmates feel the same.

That being said...I know that choosing a school can be daunting, especially if you are one of those lucky few to get many acceptances, but inevitably only you can truly know what the right school for you is. It is no doubt tempting to listen to all of the opinions on this website, but remember that they are just that...opinions and perspectives. If you really want to find out about a school go visit and see for yourself: find students and ask them, talk to professors, sit in on lectures and don't be afraid to ask the hard questions. If you are really considering SUNY upstate and anxiousboy is making you...well...anxious...ask the administration directly what happened..I'm sure all of us here would be eager to know what they have to say.

So - what does this mean? seeing as other people are getting interview invites already - I mean - does anyone placed on this list get offered an interview? Or get accepted???


Any one know? I guess its better than being rejected straight-out 😕
 
Placed on pre-interview hold 🙁 Don't have much hope for Upstate now - got pre-interview hold last year from them and just never heard back. Kind of surprised actually, based on the school's that have granted me interviews so far I was kind of expecting good news from Upstate. Oh well 🙁

Also pre-interview HOLD here. Guess this is another school to cross off my list. The fact that they state they won't re-review my file until they're done looking at the entire applicant pool pretty much encourages me to give up all hope.

IS 3.6+ 34+ got placed on hold today. Pretty surprised, but I have a good amount of interviews already.
 
I was complete on 8/10 also... so now I'm scared! :scared: (I haven't gotten any word since completion, but it sounds like they're reviewing the batch of applications I'm in).

For those of you on "pre-interview hold":
1. Did you hear through email or just by checking your status?
2. Was your status blank before? Mine has been "Complete" since 8/10, but it seems that when your status goes blank, it means they're reviewing your file (according to this thread)?

does anyone have a cinderella story about getting an interview after being put on hold? Luckily I have a killer update essay to send, but Im not sure theyll even read it now!

3.6 cgpa, 38 MCAT
 
I was also put on HOLD (it hurts so much worse in all-caps!)

In-state, cGPA 3.7, sGPA 3.6, MCAT 29
 
Wow I guess they are sending out all the holds now. I also got put on pre-interview hold. In state, 3.46 cgpa, 3.45 sgpa, 37R MCAT. I'm treating this as equivalent to a rejection. Ah well.

The website is asking me what kind of application I want to fill out.
There is no MD option, what do I choose??

So to find your status are you logging on then clicking on Fall 2011 which brings up your application summary and then getting your status from the Application Status field? With all these holds I'm worried I'm looking in the wrong place...

1. I got an email
2. My status was blank before (at least when I checked yesterday it was). It's still blank even now, and it still says "Supplemental Load Process"
 
Another soul for the HOLD LIST OF DOOM. Submitted Aug 3rd, not sure when complete... 🙁 36R/3.8 Canadian. ;______;

Anything we can do to increase chance of an interview or is this gone now? Sob.
