Yes, I called this morning and they told me the same thing (re: HPA mvmt)...
I called today and they said that the HPA list is just starting to move.
I also called like 2 hours ago but they said it hasn't started moving. Weird

Are they able to tell you where you are on the waitlist? Some people here seem to have been able to get that information from calling. I feel like the phone people are just tired of getting these questions and are just saying 'the list hasn't moved' just for the hell of it.
One time I called and they asked for my name, and told me I was in a grey area. That time the lady was nice, but I have called two other times, about 2 weeks in between each call and they were very cold. I think you're right and they are tired of people calling.
Are you hearing by e-mail or by phone?
I called yesterday and was told that the HPA wont start moving until next month... that doesn't seem right.

Not my first choice, but I was offered Binghamton (is that the right spelling? I should probably figure that out at some point over the next 2 yrs)
Admissions said the Syracuse list was barely moving. She said she couldn't make any recommendations whether I should decline and wait for Syracuse, but her tone didn't sound too optimistic.
2nd acceptance in 2 days... after 12 months of torture. I'll be declining AMC shortly...

I received an acceptance for the Binghamton Campus a few weeks ago. I will be definitely matriculating here!! Soo excited! Good luck everyone whose still waiting,

And btw, I called once and someone was very nice and said I am in a good place and the odds are in my favor, then called again 2 weeks later and a gentleman was very cold and didnt even ask my name. Then two weeks later I emailed and got a response saying they usually reach well beyond my position to offer acceptances, and about a week later I got the phone call. I guess it really depends who answers the phone lol.

Ditto. First call was friendly and gave details about my position, second was "we can't give that out" (though she did answer general WL-movement questions). Sorry, don't remember names.
I remember a time when you wanted to hear from Upstate more than anything in the universe.
Anyway, congrats, probably no good reason to switch at this point.
I just got a 2 bedroom loft at 1108 Madison St. It's close enough to school that you can walk... If anyone is looking for housing still, I need to find a roommate for the room, and I would prefer a med student.

How do you feel about having a car while at Upstate?
2 things are necessary. Either a car or a really good friend who has a car. Otherwise you may have to eat out every meal.
That being said, the only thing I used my car is for grocery shopping or going to carousel mall. You could take the bus but public transportation is not very good in Syracuse.
Hey Funky, are there any apartment locations near campus to avoid in terms of finding an apartment. Specifically for a female living alone?? or places that will be loud because of undergrads???

I think you want to avoid anything that's south of adams st and west of state st in terms of safety. Generally people don't live there anyway though. If you're close to SU then you'll probably have undergrads living around but it's hard to say how loud it's going to be. Safetywise, it's probably not too bad if you're walking towards the direction of SU. Jefferson/Madison towers are the most popular buildings and they are just full of med students and residents so noise is not much of a problem but it's probably too late to get those apartments now.
Hey Funky-- is it still the case that MS1 exams are held on Fridays? And when are MS2 exams usually scheduled? Thanks!

Unfortunately you may have to get used to it. My tuition has now gone up almost 50% in three years. The state legislature sees us as a politically safe piggy bank. Should stabilize a bit though.
