Can you not submit the secondary until you rank the clinical campuses? Everything else is done but I don't seen an option to submit.

I'm about to try to submit mine, I will tell you if I have the same problem or not.

Edit: So I didn't have any problems submitting... The Submit button was on the right window, under the list of the different sections of the Supplemental App (Essays, Institutional Action, etc.). I think you have to have every single box with the check mark to submit. I'm not sure if the button appears only if you've completed everything.

Yeah, since I didn't rank the clinical campuses, that box is still a red x for me. I guess I still have to rank them even though I'm only interested in the sites in the Philadelphia area?

I ranked all the schools -- pretty randomly. I hope they don't ask me why. I would just like to stay in Philly, please.

Yeah, same. Actually, it looks like you can select Temple University Hospital and affiliates for every choice. I wonder if I should just do that. Bethlehem is the only clinical campus I could swing, and it'd mean like an hour drive each way every day. We really can't move.

Maybe I should call...

hmmm I didn't notice that I could only click Temple. I recommend you calling though -- I am sure if you put Temple and affiliates as your first choice, they know that is what you want. It think it's really after the interview that you have to state where you want to go -- and I am sure you can explain why Temple vs. any other location is preferred. You shouldn't even let them consider you for Bethlehem because two hours driving everyday is not worth it and will kill all your free time.

Geekchick, maybe you can explain that in essay prompt #2? Now that you mention this, I am thinking that maybe I should have wrote there too. I think it said if you are only interested in Temple University Hospital and affiliates, you should write "N/A" which makes me think that most people who request Temple, will get it. But since you have additional circumstances, it couldn't hurt to mention it I guess.

I wonder what does it say on status for everone. Mine still says "verified". Also I was not able to pay for some reason directly after supplemental. So how do I pay now?

I JUST checked mine and it says "under review" - up until a few days ago (last time I checked it) it said "verified" even though I had completed everything, paid, all of my letters were in, etc.

Mine has said under review for about a week now.

The same exact thing happened to me with not being able to pay! Just call Admissions and they'll reset it for you so you can pay.

Anybody else tempted to use the fresh prince lyrics for their secondary essay?

If you indicated St. Luke's Regional Campus or one of our clinical campuses (Geisinger Health System or West Penn Allegheny Health System) as your first choice, please describe the nature of your special interest.

In West Allegheny I was born and raised...

On the Temple website, it says "If you have not completed the requirements at the time you submit your AMCAS application, your file will be placed on hold until we receive transcripts indicating the final grades from the pre-requisites."

Now, my question is, does anyone happen to know if one semester of organic can be replaced with biochemistry? I couldn't find it on the website and I haven't taken Orgo 2 yet. So, if anyone can shed any light on this, I'd really appreciate it.

I don't know about your question, but I do know that I haven't finished all my prereqs but my app was accepted and I'm 'under review' - It doesn't appear to be on hold as far as I can see.

Does anyone know if Temple first year med students have clinical experience with patients?

Has anyone's status changed from "under review" to interview invite or something like that? and if so how long did it take?

By "use the following space," do they mean that you should just try to limit your response to filling the box, without it scrolling?

🙁 I wish but unfortunately no. I have been "Under Review" for approximately 2 weeks now.

I love this school though and since its huge renovation, it is gonna be so baller. I would reword that in an interview setting though 😛

Me too (on all accounts)! I just want them to be done reviewing and invite some people in! I was looking at last year's thread and it seemed as though invites started in early August (the 13th was the first date I saw)

:xf:

I logged into the application system last night to check my status to see if it was still under review, and it said "interview invite". No email was sent to say "hey, you've been invited!" so it's up to you to be checking regularly. Slots are open for the Sept14ish to beginning of Oct.

Wow really? I'm still under review..when were you complete, red panda??

Also, is Temple one of those schools that gives you a solid answer or could we be "under review" until April?

Nice, congrats! When were you complete at Temple? I've been under review for weeks, blech.

Congrats!!!

Still under review here too.

Exciting, this is the first school I am officially complete at. Got my LORs processed finally today! It's weird that they don't send e-mail updates though.

My status says "verified" but they already have my LORs, Primary and secondary... Should I call to see why Im not under review??

I think it took a few days for my status to change to under review, so I'm not sure if I'd worry about it yet. When did they get everything?

They finally got the last piece, my LORs, on Monday... So its only been 4 days since I have been complete. Ill wait a while longer then! Thanks!!!

Does anyone know if Temple first year med students have clinical experience with patients?

first year you work with standardized patients to learn how to take a complete, thorough history and the physical. There are a couple of times in the year (later on) when you actually do a whole history (with no help - no asking your preceptor questions or asking for time) where you get video/audio recorded and you can watch yourself later on. At the end of the year you do a practice OSCE where you get graded (not a real grade per se...) on your performance of taking 3 random histories and 1 physical exam.

you get great experience getting comfortable with these "patients" and you'll be amazed at how much clinical skills obtain...but there's still a lot to learn and that's what the other 3 years are for

ooOooh exciting - congrats!!

I submitted on 7/5, I think. I logged in again yesterday, and my status changed back to "under review" but I called the admissions office about this and they said, "Are you [insert my name here]?" 😱

They didn't really explain but already knew who I was and said the invite was real, so maybe their IT system just let it out a little earlier than planned.

is it bad to be writing 3000 or so characters for the "why temple" question? the first paragraph is why temple and the body is more details about me to support my statement of why i match temple well. i dunno if it's gonna be turn off to the schools to read more and more about me... especially on their "why us" question... but it's stuff i didn't mention in my ps..

does anyone know what area of medicine Temple specializes in? is it primary care, some specialty???

do you guys think 750 words (~4750 characters) is too much to explain why Temple?

As long as it was all meaningful to you, and you really needed that many words to explain it, no. If you're just going overboard and being verbose and not really saying much, then yes.

Basically, once you've said all the content you need to you're done, and if you haven't done that before 750 words, it's not too much in my opinion.

But do keep in mind how many essays these people have to read on a daily basis...

I probably am being a little verbose, but everything I have written is meaningful. I have a feeling they will skip over a lot of it unless I'm more concise tho =\
