They might still be deffering people, another batch will hear back near March 1st. That may be the transition point from deferred to waitlist, but who knows.

At some point we will all move to a waitlist unless a large number of people turn down spots early. I remember someone telling me they do, as of recent, rank their waitlist, at least in tiers, (high priority vs low); even if they tell you they don't.

I heard from someone associated with the maine track - tufts program, that the governer of maine was trying to kick tufts kids out, so that program may die out. They're trying to make their own bid for a med school I've heard. I also heard that some Tufts clinical sites have been dying off and they get sucked up by Harvard et al. They've been shoving large numbers of students into clerkships way out in western mass to balance.

Something to ask about when you get in (or if you're already in). That stuff makes me nervous (money wars that effect curriculum and over-stuffed clerkships).

To be honest, I am not terribly surprised about the Maine track. I went to school at University of New England (Biddeford, ME) and they have a school of Osteopathic Medicine there. The crazy thing was that they couldn't send their students to Portland Maine Medical Center because that hospital has this deal with Tufts. UNECOM is a good school too, so it seemed unfair.

The Maine Track certainly isn't dying out at all, they signed a 10-year agreement with Tufts and this upcoming year will be year 3 I believe. They are aggressively expanding within Maine and just built a really expensive new simulation center. Their long-term goal is their own medical school, but that is a very long term goal. What the new governor of Maine said he is that he might withdraw some of the scholarship support that the State of Maine gives to some of the Maine Track students.

I really hope that they accept some ppl who are deferred... sigh.. actually i hope everyone who got deferred in SDN get accepted 🙂 from what i've read on 2008-2009 thread, it looks like pretty much everyone who was put under "active consideration" group was moved to waitlist... and then some got accepted starting in May

any word on more interview invites from tufts (regular MD) or is it pretty much filled until the end of march when their interview season ends?

This thread has been SILENT!

I called and probed on behalf of "deffered" land (and its glorious inhabitants).

They repeated the e-mailed non-sense; and followed with we will get "rejects or waitlists" by end of May. Guess that means not enough people are withdrawing in order for deffered status to be hopeful for earlier word? Sounds more like a waitlist than anything else...

My buddy who asked about his "short/odd interview" got a response saying (paraphrased of course), "don't worry, length of interview is not important, we'll chat about it". I'm amazed, I've heard of other schools actually being very understanding about that sort of thing.

My buddy had a horrible interview experience at UVM, they rejected him quickly, and then he told them about his interview, and they reinterviewed him and accepted him quickly. Makes sense, if you're a good applicant on paper, a nice person and bright, and the interviewer has a bad day/mood, you shouldn't be chucked out for it. Reasonable people will always consider the possibility they've f****ed up. If I had this issue and got blown off I'd probably withdraw (assuming my other acceptances are worthwhile).

got an interview yesterday so they are still comin out

Complete 8/21

Their last interview day was actually Feb 9. The Jan 12 date got postponed twice due to snow . They said they'll have decisions out within two weeks with either an acceptance, high priority waitlist, low priority, or rejection.

oh damn. Didn't even see that. Oh well. Here's to MD only! But I didn't complete my app until 10/25... so probably not that either 🙁

Just got an interview invite the other day... I like Tufts (and love boston), but I think it's too expensive for me. If I had gotten the invite before I heard back with acceptances, I might have gone. Oh well. Whoever takes my spot. Enjoy.

Any one have any luck receiving and interview invite after sending an update?

haha great... so no acceptances? wow I wonder why they decided to "defer" people in the first place..

I'd like to know, too. I sent an update letter almost 3 weeks ago and nada.

Anyone know if the interview period ends in March? Have they already invited the last groups to be interviewed?

+1, wondering this too. I sent Tufts an update in early January and still no word from them.

Congrats 0707!!! You must be thrilled! Just curious, what date did you interview?

Congrats! Did you get the e-mail to update your contact information?

I interviewed mid February. Yesterday I got the email asking to update my contact information- I have been checking my email ever since!

Good luck everyone!

Got the contact info email as well... my heart will skip a beat every time my phone rings tomorrow.

Good luck to everyone else waiting

Does getting that email regarding confirming your contact info mean you will get an acceptance call, or is that sent out to everybody who they made a decision on i their last adcom meeting?

Maybe more to the point, does NOT getting the contact info email mean you're out?

Thanks! My interview was in early February. I still haven't received the email to update my contact info...

I assume it's sent to everyone. I was deferred and had received that email.

Speaking of deferred...anyone get accepted who was previously deferred? (Think it's an obligatory question at this point.)

Just got the call from the dean!!!!!! 9:45AM, woke me up from sleep 🙂.

Interviewed February 8th.

Good luck everyone!

No one on this thread, or the 5-6 applicants I know who are deferred have gotten in yet. Its safe to say its a waitlist/reject until May.

Those of you who were deferred, did you get the news via email?

Btown, you thinking they'll be making acceptance calls for our group sometime early this coming week? Btw, can anyone offer some insight as to the Tufts post-interview selection process? I can't recall them directly addressing this during the interview day...

Does anyone know when they started making some movement on the deferred list last cycle?

I don't think they had a deferred list last cycle.

Yeah, they had one. They just called it "active consideration". New name, same lameness. Very few people (at least on SDN) got in off the active consideration list. Supposedly there was some movement after May 15th.

Just have to wait if you get deffered, there aint gonna be a quick decision.

Interviewed 2/10, got a call today at 9:30 a.m. PST 🙂

interviewed 2/17 or sometime around there.
got the call this morning at around 12pm.

for those interested in stats 3.8 40

does anybody know if tufts has any merit aid at all?

Based on recent posts, I think we should be notified today of acceptances because they called 2/17 interviews yesterday. I am soo nervous! From what I remember, the admissions committee reviews your entire file including comments based on your interview and then they vote on each candidate. Based on your number of votes they offer you a spot.

Thanks! So am I!! lol. Well, good luck!

I got the acceptance phone call last Friday morning at 9:30. Very happy that I was awake.

Interviewed on 2/1. Tufts was my top choice of everywhere I interviewed at.

Good luck to everyone.

Has anyone who interviewed for the Maine Track received an acceptance call recently?
No I am still waiting, on the interview day, I was told it should be early March, so I'm pretty anxious.

Is this school still giving out interview invitations? or is it pretty well done at this pt.?

I cant seem to find when second look weekend is for Tufts. I tried calling but the admissions office doesnt they dont seem to answer their phone. 🙁

Anyone know?

IIRC, we were told during interview day that there is no formal second-look date. However, if you'd like to see the school again, you should contact the admissions office and they can work out you sitting in on a class.

I'd like to know too!

Also, I am working on re-grouping and preparing to re-apply this year. I was wondering: folks that applied really early last year (i.e. AMCAS done almost immediately after it was opened for the season and secondaries completed asap) when did you start hearing back? Have any of you been put on hold this whole time or have they given you all some form of decision by now (waitlist, accepted, rejected)?
