Okay guys, so.. I just got a straight up rejection in the mail today. I am super shocked because I thought tufts doesn't reject post interview and you're either accepted or deferred. I'm losing hope of getting in this cycle and I don't know if I want to live anymore. Peace out.

Ok, so a few hours later now.. What I wrote before was an immediate reaction of shock. I have every intention of continuing to live and to reapply next cycle if necessary. There is still a lot of hope for the future and so many things to be thankful for, even if a med school acceptance is not one of them yet.

ha yeah I knew you didn't mean it aredo. Yeah man, apps process is crazy and is just harsh. try to stay strong and hopefully you get off a waitlist. sorry to hear about the rejection.

Yeah man, just hang in there. This entire process just makes us stronger and there definitely will be a greater sense of gratitude when things finally fall into place. It just takes time. Best of luck to you.:luck:

Sorry to hear that, if it makes you fell any better I now have a sense of doom knowing your fate

A resident I'm friendly with told me that the year he had off between college and med school was the best year of his life and he is so happy he didn't get in the first cycle because he would have never had the opportunity to travel/ make money/ have fun had he gone straight to med school...

I think of this piece of advice from time to time and it always makes me feel better, either way- you really NEVER know what will happen, things have a way of surprising you

Wow

1) To the kid who got rejected. I haven't heard of anyone getting rejected after interview (except the kid who hit on his interviewer). Check your application and make sure you didn't write 'cured cancer' or something ridiculous that fell through upon a check-up review. You may have done something off and not noticed (cursed, racial joke, etc), go through it all and list out what might have been said/written to get you cut at this point. Just reapply, plenty of smart kids do, but don't include Tufts this time (unless they can tell you straight up it wasn't something serious). It may just be late in the process so they can start to trim down now.

2) To the video post. I felt less excited about medical school looking at those kids. Thank god for my 'ok' GPA and lack of royal blood, keeping me warm and safe from girls dressed as pokemon. I always assumed that books like The House of God were just kidding, guess not! My collar slowly popped up and all those memories of being bullied sort of washed over me in sadness/darkness. Woah.

Yeah, I agree with NewBrandDoctor. Maybe you can make an inquiry to the adcom themselves and see if you can get any information out of them.

Is there an official Class of 2015 Tufts thread? If not we should make one, where are people living?

At the risk of sounding dumb, does anyone know where we actually show up tomorrow for the revisit activities? Also, is there any parking available at the med school campus, or do I need to take the T? Since I'm a Maine Tracker, I've never actually set foot on the Tufts campus, so this is all unfamiliar territory for me.
Dr. G3- assuming I go to Tufts (very likely), I'm hoping to live around Davis Square, or maybe Porter Square (neighborhoods of Somerville and Cambridge).

Its a good thing you are coming tomorrow. Tufts School of Medicine (in chinatown boston) is a full 45-50 mins T ride away from Tufts Undergrad campus (located in medford somerville). Unless you are fine with living this far away from the school.. which is fine, a couple people do it.

The email we got said you can drive and park in the parking garage of the hospital on washington street. They will stamp your ticket to help pay for that parking.

As for check in i have no idea. I am in the area so i am only planning on coming to the panel friday then the reception and trivia. Write Emily Condon for that, she is really nice and will get back to you with info ASAP.

Hope this helps and safe trip!

Thanks for the advice! Yeah, I realize that the med school is not located particularly near the main Tufts campus... I'm hoping to live in Cambridge/Somerville for a few reasons: affordable rent, friends in the area, and an aversion to very urban locations.

for those of you who went to the second look: did they say when fin. aid awards were coming out?

I received my award in the mail yesterday. If you sent in your financial aid application before the deadline, my guess is you'll probably get your award very soon.

anyone know if there is a facebook group for MS15s?

Just withdrew.... goodluck to all still waiting! So scary to press that send button!

So i guess after May 15th Thomas Slavin is going to start calling all the people holding on to more than one acceptance? Is it valid to say you are waiting for fin aid to make your decision?

Hey, trying to decide between Tufts and some other schools. Anyone know how large the class size is at Tufts? I left my MSAR at my college apartment and I'm home for the week.

I was under the impression that all other acceptances had to be withdrawn by May 15?

I don't think they can force you... Part of the "acceptance package" says:

"If you accept out offer now, you are free to withdraw at any time prior to registration. Our policy is to refund tuition deposits until May 15. Id you withdraw after that date, you will forfeit you deposit. If you are holding a position in the entering class at TUSM and at another school(s) after may 15th i will write you and ask you to choose between or among the schools involved."

I'm not choosing anything until i get my fin aid, so ill have this as my excuse.

Oh ok cool. Is that typical of all medical schools?

just withdrew my acceptance...good luck to those waiting!! :luck:

It's a little bit more serious than just losing a deposit. If you hold onto more than one acceptance after May15th, either school can take away youre acceptance. As per the Tufts School of Medicine website:

"If you are holding a position in our entering class after May 15, and the AMCAS database indicates that you are also holding a position at another school(s), we will request that you decline all but one of your accepted positions. If you do not do so promptly, we will rescind your position in our class. This is common practice, and you can expect most medical schools to enforce this policy."

"Not without notice" As per director of admissions Thomas Slavin

For those who were deferred.. just called admissions to hear that there will be movement soon..and we will hear by the end of next week!

Thanks for posting the info maro89. I was guessing we might hear something next week based on the 08/09 thread, but it's always good to get confirmation of it. Good luck to everyone out there waiting!

Thanks for calling! Glad to have an idea of how long to wait.

Just withdrew so there is one more spot that opened up. Tufts is too expensive and I got a decent scholarship elsewhere. GOODDDDDD LUCCCCKKKK!

Congrats to those accepted!
There really hasn't been any movement since april acceptances? I have a feeling this must be one large deferred category.

Hopefully we will start hearing some news later this week...

"continued interest" status update on the secondary website. I'm sure the waitlist email is soon to follow.

Just got that "update your contact info" e-mail, like we did the first time around, saying that they're sending out notice for deferred people early next week. :xf: Good luck e'erbody!

Ouch, I better go pre-emptively reject Tufts.

Are you under the impression they're rejecting applicants at this stage? I assumed it would be waitlist/accept.
