I did the same thing. Their website doesn't specifically state that they won't accept more than three, so I think it's fine.
 
For the question where is asks about your single most meaningful volunteer experience, is it implied that the experience has to have been during college? I have a good experience in college, but I feel that my most meaningful one would be in high school. Do you think I should use something from high school?

Also if I just graduated a few weeks ago, would I just put what I'm planning on doing during summer/next year. I have a few activities but I'm still looking for a research position, so would I just put that I'm looking for research for next year, and this is what I've done so far? Thanks!
 
Just submitted my secondary. Any idea on how long until we hear about interviews?
 
I don't know if my question just got buried in the thread since i posted it yesterday but did you guys apply to both the New Orleans and Baton Rouge program, or just one of them? They allowed me to check both, and assuming NO is the normal program and BR is the newer program described in the PDF, they both have great aspects that attract me..haha

I'm not sure when the interview invites are sent out, but according the timeline they start the interviews as early as September. I suspect they start sending out interviews during August if not late July.

It doesn't specifically say college, so I feel like high school would be fine, especially if it is a big contributing factor to you wanting to go into medicine.

I graduated last year but I am in grad school now, so I put that and my research/job/volunteering stuff down. I think they want to know what you'll be doing for this year so I'd put it down (only things that are already set in stone though, so not the research. You could say you are looking for a 1-year research position maybe?)

Somebody above said they did apply to both of them. You'd have to call the admissions office to see if that's okay to do since nobody has confirmed yet that they are okay with that 😀
 
Thanks sedaniel! My problem is that I'm a reapplicant and I was/am waitlisted so I didn't start looking for research positions for next year until recently because I wasn't sure I'd even be here. Now I'm looking, but I don't actually have one that is set in stone like you mentioned. I'll probably just note down what I'm doing for sure, mention that I'm looking for a research position, and then send them an update once I acutally find one. 🙂
 
For the "single most meaningful volunteer experience" question, do they mean talk about a volunteering position you've had or have that is important to you? Or do they mean while volunteering for example at a hospital or somewhere else, what is one memorable moment you had while doing that activity?
 
I would just take any ONE volunteering experience, whether you were a volunteer, volunteer coordinator, or in a hospital, etc...and just roll with it. It's a pretty open-ended question. I think they're trying to see what is your level of thought/insight gained after certain volunteering opportunities in which you participated.
 
so to those who are just listing hobbies, are you doing it in just a few lines? Or actually trying to fill up 150 words with hobbies lol... and also is anyone going for just a few and giving descriptions?

I just listed a few of them and that was it...no descriptions. LIke I said before, if they wanted a description, they'd ask for one.

Beads and boobs.

Well, one of the standout things about Tulane is their public health / tropical medicine program. It would make a good talking point if you have interest.
 
Tulane may not be the top ranked school in terms of scores (MCAT, GPA) but it's a very service oriented school with a strong background in public health.

They really want to see what you learned from your volunteer experience and like to see a "long term commitment with a heart." This is why they ask you if you've been a Peace Corps, Americorps, or TFA volunteer or ask you to describe your most meaningful experience.
 
Does anyone know anything about the New Orleans Care Program? Website? I can see that they described the Baton Rouge program only.
 
So the secondary asks for your single most meaningful volunteer experience. I already talked about this in my primary. Do you think I should just mention it again or try to think of another experience (though another won't actually be the most meaningful one)?

I ran into this as well, so I kind of just described the organization I volunteered with and how that type of volunteering impacted me, because my specific experience was already in the PS.
 
Maybe they'll email us when we're complete...and then have some sort of status page for us to check? It's still pretty early, so they may just be waiting until they process more secondaries to send out a mass "complete" email.

I dont think anyone knows thats why noone is replying. But since they provide so much info on baton rogue thing, I am sure they are pushing people to click baton rogue. If they allow me to check both of them, I am going to check both of them. It will give them more flexibility and make me slightly more attractive candidate.

For, #2 does it mean since we graduated from undergraduate, or graduated in general? I am in a graduate masters program so technically I am still in school. Last year's Tulane application specifically said "from an undergraduate university", but since this year's does not say that, I'm thinking that I shouldn't write anything since I am still a student. What do you guys think

Also, for #6, it says to list hobbies and non-academic interests, but are you guys describing them at all? I mean, 150 word limit... just listing my interests is like 8 words haha.

I am in the same boat as you. I wrote about my graduate program and research I was doing, etc.
 
I just submitted this secondary. Didn't get any information about a status check page, etc. Does this mean we just wait for them to contact us about status?
 
Any re-applicants having trouble logging in to access the secondary? For me, only a page comes up saying 'thanks for registering' after I try to log in.

All schools do, to the best of my knowledge, unless one has super powers, and I don't.
 
Has anyone received confirmation of a completed secondary?

I submitted July 2nd and called yesterday (July 9th) asking for an application update to see if I was complete. The office secretary said they won't tell you the status of the application and that once you submit the secondary, they will contact you through e-mail to confirm its completion. Still haven't received an e-mail or anything yet. Hope that helps![/QUOTE]
 
I also submitted my application a number of days ago, and never got a confirmation e-mail. I get directed to a page saying:

Thank you for your registration request submission. You should print or save this page for your records. The information below can be used to track your registration should you have any questions.

Is anyone who has submitted their application experiencing something different?
 
I received a confirmation email that my submission went through, but it is pretty annoying that there isn't an automated system to track your app progress.

It's odd I haven't received anything from them and I submitted over a week ago, around the 30th.

I did submit it, as when I log in, it shows that weird "thank you for your registration request" thing.
 
Just submitted mine....

Was there no place to upload a picture of yourself, or did I just miss it?
 
Same here.. I submitted my application last week and assigned my letters to be sent via AMCAS. Yet, they still haven't told me anything, so I don't even know if I'm complete at this school. Anyway, good to hear I'm not the only one.. lol. Good luck everyone!!

I have a feeling that is how Tulane works..after secondary submission...we sit and wait until there is a status change.

i'm a reapplicant and i had the same problem. i just gave them a call and they fixed it the next morning.
 
I had automatically assigned my four main letters to every school I applied to, but see now that Tulane's application instructions (by email, not on the website) specifically require no more than three. Will this be a problem?

I am in the same boat. I sent my 3 professor letters and 1 letter from my vice principal since I've been employed for awhile. I thought of calling them about it. I had the same problem with UF because when they sent out their app request email it stated speciically not to send LORs until you have had a secondary request, but I'm pretty sure my letters were sent to all my schools on June 25th.

If that is the case, then oops x2, because I seem to have done the same for Florida. Do tell me if you find anything out, e.g., if we should call/email personally and clarify, or send out the required letters separately.

I wouldn't worry about having too many letters. Vanderbilt says something similar, and I called the office. They said they always welcome more letters to round out the file, but more letters isn't necessarily better.
 
If I am interested in healthcare in developing countries and would like to have opportunities to travel to these countries during med school is it ok to mention in the why tulane essay that I am particularly drawn to their tropical medicine program even if I don't plan on attaining a dual degree?

Just got off the phone with Tulane's admission office-- wow--talked to a lady there who's not very friendly...

I submitted my secondary 7/3, no completion email yet. I asked if there's any way of knowing what needs to be completed (like LORs or payment(in case it didnt actually go through). She said nope and hung up. How rude...

Yikes. I am glad you asked though because I have been wondering if we were gonna get complete emails or something. Its nerve wracking not knowing.
 
does anyone still know the difference between nola cares and the baton rouge programs?
