First time poster, long time browser --- if that makes any sense. Lol.

Isnt the pass rate in med school supposed to be 100%???? Does anyone know the pass rates in med school based on blocks? I would really like to know it. Thanks.

This is not the place to be venting.

Is RWJMS slow compared to NJMS? As an in-state resident, I'm just kind of surprised I haven't heard from this school yet. I've been completed for 2 months.

They are slower this year due to the new format. Don't worry though they said they are no longer rolling admissions.

They said they're not rolling, but they also said that they'll start sending out "batches of acceptances" in mid December and send more every so often during the following weeks/months. Can someone clarify what's the difference between this new "batches" style and traditional rolling admissions?

Thanks!

Have alot of people already recieved interview? I was complete very early, somewhere around early-mid July and have not heard anything. I find it odd because I already had my NJMS interview a month ago.

Does this mean I'm probably not getting an interview or is it still early in their process?

Usually with rolling they start accepting applicants as they interview until they pretty much fill the class. So that way if they accept a lot of applicants early the rest of the interviewees will be waitlisted or rejected. Non rolling usually just implies that they leave a large chunk of the acceptances open till they have interviewed everyone. That usually entails deferring people who interviewed in the fall to be considered again in the spring with later interviewers if they aren't immediately accepted. With that said, they do send out acceptances in batch to people they really like but, again, they leave the majority of the seats open.

I think you could definitely still get an invite. They started interviewing in mid October, and have only had a small number of interview dates so far. Also, most of the people in my group (November 16th) had already interviewed at NJMS weeks earlier, so it seems like RWJ is moving more slowly than NJMS.

Funny because I still have yet to hear back from NJMS after being complete the first day they started accepting secondaries.

interviewing here tomorrow...not sure what to think about the new interview format. guess there's not too much i can do to prepare though..😕

same. had no idea how to prepare, but i think that's partially the point!

For those who have interviewed, was it what you were expecting? I know you've signed a confidentiality agreement (I have as well, in preparation for my upcoming interview) so I'm not asking for you to disclose any specifics, but what was your impression? Was it a fair way to be assessed? Did you feel prepared and knowledgable?

My pre-med advisor said she spoke to the dean of admission and that they are experimenting with the MAS this year and are undecided whether to keep it for next year - they are going to see how it goes.

Went into the interview thinking it would be a miserable experience and that they wouldnt get to know me, but they do a really good job of choosing questions/scenarios. I left totally confident that they got to know me as a candidate and I was able to show my personality.

Anyone know anything going on with this school? I have been completed since July or so and am in-state yet have not heard anything at all. It seems like not many people are hearing anything either.

They've been interviewing since Oct. 22. They are only doing a few days a month but they are interviewing in huge groups of people. On my interview day there were over 40 people. They're no longer rolling though so I don't think it matters when you're completed

I am getting soooooooo anxious for the first round of decisions....come on RW!!

Didn't they say first round would go out before Christmas? Which should be relatively soon

I interviewed on November 16th and they told us mid-December or "about a month" from then. So hopefully information should start coming out soon!

I like the sounds of that. Did they tell you how you would hear? Phone/email/letter?

I interview on Nov 22 and they also told us that we would hear a decision in "about a month", but i'm not sure how they'll tell us. I'm assuming email or letter in the mail.

I'm an In-state student and my secondary application was complete in July (pretty much the day after it was sent to me). I've had my interview at NJMS and was actually accepted there on October 16th, but I have not heard a single word from RWJMS.

Is this a common situation for instate students with my stats?? Stats: 3.83 cgpa (3.89sci); 30 mcats; plenty of clinical experience, work expeirience, community service, research, and leadership.

Side note: Personally, NJMS is my top choice, because I really like the campus and the faculty/staff. I'm just curious as to why RWJ has not sent me anything, meanwhile, i know of several friends with very similar stats that have already had interviews there.
Other than this new interview format for this cycle, do you think that there could be some other reason?
Is the staff at RWJ slow and inefficient?

the new interview format is pushing their interview dates much further back. dont worry too much!

Similar situation for me. In-state and complete in early Sept but haven't heard a peep since. Accepted at NJMS last week. I'm just hoping the delay is from the new format as well.

3.88 cgpa; 3.95 sgpa; 35Q mcat; standard community service experience; a little "typical" research but a lot of R&D in the medical device industry since I'm a mech engineer a few years out of school.

It's definitely because of the new format. Last year and previous years both schools started accepting students around the same time. And many students got accepted into both schools. Of course some got into RWJ and not NJMS, and vice versa. I expect many of the students already accepted to NJMS will be getting acceptances to RWJ in the next month.

wow this wait sucks:scared:

I feel you... and I've only been waiting about a month! I looked back on the thread, and saw that you've been waiting since October 22nd... ugh!

any word when we are supposed to hear back?

I interviewed mid-late November, and the dean of admission said we would hear back "mid to late December."

So I guess tomorrow is the first possible day of notification, considering a lot of schools like the 15th of each month for notification dates? Anyone know if it'll be by email, phone, or snail mail?

According to last year's thread, people got phone calls (from a 732 area code).
