I got in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got the email/call just now. I was a pretty late applicant, these guys were the first to get back to me and give me an interview. I interviewed on Dec 20.

3.7/29

...gives hope to sub-30 MCATS ^^

WOOT

This makes me sad. I interviewed on Nov. 16th and I've got a 'hold' status. RWJMS is my #1 school.

accepted!!!!!

got the call around 5. I was actually just coming out of the gym when she called me, so I didn't see the e-mail yet and I was out of breath lol. Didn't have the strength to jump for joy and she called me on that lol

Not first choice, but definitely an option...GL to everyone else!

Did anyone from November hear today...? :xf:

I finally got my congratulatory call if that's what you mean...?
LoL
but anyway, about the merger, I think Chris Christie could maybe give a little extra funding to make the tuition difference between our state med schools and private med schools in the area LARGER rather than smaller. At this rate, if the cost of going to a state med school is the same as a private med school in NYC, how is NJ going to keep its students in NJ? They'll all run off to private schools in this area...

I always considered RWJMS as RUTGERS med school... They are literally right on top each other and there is incredible intermixing when it comes to their research and facilities. I thnk combining the two would help to propel both Rutgers and RWJMS in terms of prestige/research dollars/ and overall funding. That being said, I'm hesitant of the idea of dismantling all of UMDNJ....

I'm sorry to hear that...try sending them an intent letter letting them know that they are your #1 choice and you'd definitely attend if accepted

finally got my congratulatory call as well.

unfortunately, she decided to call around 10am EST, which was only 5am where I was at the time. the conversation involved a few groans and garbled words before she said we could talk at the winter reception instead.

that wasnt quite how i imagined that phone call to go down.

sooo, some of us who have joined the facebook group had a great chat tonight... we also decided to change the group name so it will be easier to find. If you have been accepted to RWJ and are considering attending, you can join 'Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Class of 2015' on facebook : )

I cant find the group :-(

hmmmm.... if you message me your name (if you don't think that's weird?) I can try to invite you on facebook. I don't know why many people are having trouble finding it : /

yeah,..it is weird..I looked the other day and couldnt find the FB group either.

did anyone get a confirmation for the event on friday? I replied I was going but received no further communication

bobow you still thinking of getting a pet? I would really like one but probably wont because Ill be too busy. the thought of having a pet makes me happy though haha. dang.

I've got a 4.0 and 36, am from Rutgers and nj state resident. Is there any chance I'll get an interview? Completed secondary in august. I know it was late.

I have a 3.7 34 and I'm a NJ resident and I interviewed back in October (complete late august) so I don't think your stats will set you back at all.

Has anyone heard anything from this RWJMS recently regarding their status? I've been in the "hold" category for quite awhile now. Has anyone been rejected or waitlisted yet?

Last Thursday I checked in with RWJ because the hold letter said we'd hear in mid-Jan, and the month was almost over. I got a response that the weather has impacted the committee's ability to meet and those of us placed on hold would likely have to wait "several more weeks" before receiving a decision. No clue how long or short "several more weeks" will turn out to be.

Does anyone who interviewed in January remember when we were told the admissions committee would be meeting to discuss us? I think I heard Feb 6th, though I think I heard incorrectly because Superbowl Sunday would be an odd day to meet. Although I'm getting really nervous nonetheless...

anyone know what the school code for RWJ on the FAFSA. i cant find the school on the list...grr

School code for FAFSA: 013645

you can't just search for RWJ, it's under University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ

so that hold letter that was mailed to people in december, that was a deferment then?

Anyone have an update on whether acceptances are still going out?

theyre still doing interviews (my co-worker is scheduled for 2/18)...so they must still be sending out acceptances...

Ill be in piscataway tomorrow. Interested to see how this MMI thing works out. I am thinking about doing different personalities or characters for each interviewer. I will answer the ethics questions as if I was michael scott.

Do you guys think those of us who interviewed yesterday are just going for waitlist spots this late in the game?

interviewed back in November, got the December hold letter, and now nothing for 2 months. is this basically a rejection? i know people from my interview date got accepted already. anyone else in this situation?

34/3.6 in state.

I added RWJMS to my amcas but didn't submit the secondary. Just got an email saying I had been rejected lol.

i called the school a week ago, they said my app was next be evaluated (whenever that is)....i didn't take that response seriously. I expect to be silently waitlisted/rejected

I was totally rejected lawl

3.9/32 applied late July...

waaaaaahhhh

i just got the same letter storm, i've been alternated. aw phooey

i'm a 3.82/30 in-state (rutgers newark). i got accepted to UMDNJ-NJMS (my top choice), but just received my reject notice from RWJMS without an interview or hold or anything (secondary completed in july). i found this to be a little strange, considering i am in-state and have a friend that goes to rutgers new brunswick, who was accepted (very similar stats, ECs, etc).

I have a feeling that they have some sort of bias against students from RU-nwk, unless you're an underrepresented minority. Thats just my opinion from what i've seen and heard from people on the inside of admissions committees. whatever.

also, i spoke to my advisor several weeks ago about this delayed response. he thought that the admissions office could have "lost" my application in their pile. i just think that it's messed up that it took this long and couldnt even offer me an interview.

another reason for the delay could be because of this new interview format that they have...but how much can that possibly push it back?

any words on this?

last year i didnt get any interview or anything with a 3.97/32 and tons of everything. So it isn't like some state schools where they interview every decent student in the state. They are selective.

mystery1: For the 2008-09 cycle, RWJ had:

3,378 total applicants
1,159 in-state applicants
418 in-state interviewed

Since RWJ only interviews ~1/3 of IS applicants, they simply can't interview every qualified candidate.

There could be some sort of unspoken bias, but at the same time, just like with most other med schools, there are simply too many qualified applicants for too few spots, and it takes luck sometimes to get an interview. I wouldn't take it personally...

Found out a few days ago that I was put on the ''high priority" wait list. I had interviewed back in November. Anyone else find out the same? I called today and they told me that currently all 115 seats reserved so in order to be accepted people need to withdrawal.

Really loved RWJ... fingers still crossed! :xf:

I got the same thing. I looked through threads from previous years and there wasn't a ton of info but it looks like people got off the high priority list in may June and July in the past. More waiting for us but hopefully good news in the end. :xf:

I guess all of us who interviewed in the last group are destined for either this list or the trash can (hopefully the former).

same here. interviewed late november was was put on high priority. i think there will be a lot of movement as people hear back from upper level schools and rescind their acceptances here. i bet a lot of people also hold RWJ and NJMS (or state school acceptances in general, for that matter) for purely financial reasons and to see how much money other schools will give them before deciding.

how'd you guys find out you were on the high priority wl? did it say that on your letter?
