WOOHOOO! First acceptance!
Has anyone been rejected post interview or is it accept or waitlist?
I cannot imagine what you have gone through Spankz89x, this year might just be your year.
It's a Hell that I would not wish upon my worst enemies.
And while I won't delve into details, let's just say that these application cycles are accompanied with non-related tragedies of a personal nature. So, no, fellow applicants, you can't imagine what I've been through thus far. I just hope none of you have to experience what I have. Maybe this year will be my year. I hope so.
i feel for you- although this is only my second time applying, wsu is my 5th waitlist (2 last year, 3 this year). waiting on waitlists is the most miserable thing ever. last year, i got rejection letters in august from the 2 schools basically saying "we have matriculated and started classes. goodbye"
Have you applied to those two schools from last year? If they don't recognize your determination, then that's just not cool.
Really? When I called them they said that they just review an applicants data at each cycle over again and that there is no order to the alternate list...maybe they were lying?!While officially Wayne claims they grant admission, reject you, or put you on the alternate list, all evidence would indicate that they don't reject anyone until the last decision date in the beginning of May/end of April.
People at the bottom of the waitlist get rejected and those not rejected are invited to be placed on the extended waitlist where you can hope to be taken off anytime between May and the start of classes in August. And yes, from what I've read and heard, it does happen and it happens often. Look at last year's thread to see for yourself.
But, here's the kicker: right now, they know where someone will generally fall. Waitlisters aren't given a spot; they're given a score. They know which scores are going to be at the bottom even before they interview everyone. So, in theory, it is written down somewhere whether you're more likely to get in off the waitlist (most movement occurs after May 15 although people do get taken off at each decision date) and whether you will be rejected come the last decision date.
But no one will tell you. You just have to wait it out.
Here's hoping I don't get snubbed for the third time in a row.

If you have a high enough score, then yes. They don't review all the applications again. Think about how much manpower that would require. That's why they score people to begin with. They look at people whose scores are generally higher.
But if your score is low, well, not only will your status remain unchanged every month, but you'll find out just how low you are come May.
Like I said, you won't know a thing until May either way. And you can call until you're blue in the face and they still won't tell you anything.
And sending an update letter does nothing. It won't change your score. The only time it MAY make a difference is after May. And that's a maybe.
For the most part I agree with SpAnKz89X. HOWEVER, I can't imagine sending an update letter will hurt anything so I say GO FOR IT! Not sending it will definitely not do anything for you...
I suppose you're right: it won't hurt you. But don't freak out and think you need to send one off immediately. If you absolutely must, send one out when you've got significant things to report and do it when you're comfortable.
I guess what I'm trying to get at is to just relax and don't worry about it. If you are dead set on sending one, send it calmly when you're good and ready.
anybody know when/if wayne starts offering scholarships or begins giving information about applying for them?

Hey everyone, I created a new thread for the Class of 2015: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?p=10250528#post10250528.
guys I need your advice, I am from Canada, last year with 3.67 and 28 MCAt I got interview and wait-listed for all the cycle, this cycle I have same GPA and 32 MCAT and extra volunteer work and reference letter , I just invite for interview but I am worried I will be wait listed again, It seems interview is not that important and GPA is far more important, what do you think? I do not want to go for wait list spot, I rather get rejected than ever waitlisted again!
BTW last year I had very bad interview, I was unable to talk for like 2 minutes due to panic attack 🙂 but I dont think that very important since most people with my GPA will be waitlisted
Someone help me 😕
I applied last year & got waitlisted. Applied this year with the same MCAt & like 2 more classes then last year & more volunteer work & was accepted. Last year I had an awesome interview, this year i had a decent interview (nothing that would have got my hopes high)
Its 30 people who are giving you points for admission. For some MCAT might be everything for others MCAt is nothing (especially if their kids got low MCAT scores) & the same can be said for every criteria.
So just go with the flow, do your best in every step & leave the rest to destiny.
Yeah, I agree with 2015MD. I suggest you stop worrying about the numbers, present yourself to the best of your ability, and hope for the best. You raised your MCAT substantially, and have shown persistance with applying again (both are awesome)! Don't be a stealthy ninja that doesn't get noticed 🙂ninja🙂...go into the interview relaxed, no panic attack this year, and show them what you're capable of! Last piece of advice: medical schools provide us with enough obstacles to jump over through the application process...so don't be an obstacle yourself! Stay positive and do your best! Cliche, I know, but to be honest...I like cliches so get over it! 😉
On an unrelated note: I have obviously found the "more" button for the smilies and I'm determined to include one with every post. So if any of you are like:I suggest you stop being lame and show me some smiley-creativity
🤣😍
😆
Thank You
I am incredibly confused by the dancing lock.
It also feels weird knowing that yesterday they decided whether or not I'd get a spot next year here... so the decision has been made but I can't find out until Nov 24! Boo.
Yeah, I'd be crazy impressed if anyone can actually come up with a logical way to use the lock!
I know what you mean about having to wait even though the decision has been made. But look at it as a chance to relax! You've done everything you can and now you can just sit and wait for your acceptance!

and on top of that sedaniel, you are accepted to MSU, so I don't even know why you would care much if you get into WSU as well. Are you one of those people who would be holding a spot at multiple schools until august?just kidding. Maybe you prefer Wayne over MSU, which I would do as well.
PS. I am not a stalker. It is just funny to see that you have applied to literally every school I have applied to 😉.
PPS. Jrbtz44, my smily post is not just. You can tell a story from it.

Haha nooooo I am not holding multiple spots, I definitely get how crappy it would be to do that when there are so many great applicants vying for so few spots. If I get into Wayne I'll be giving up my MSU spot because Wayne's my top choice pretty much (actually I will be withdrawing my app from all but 2 or 3 schools if I get into Wayne). Is this your top choice too then?
And I cannot believe there is a SPAM icon like that, I must have never scrolled down that far in the "More" smiley's box before hahah.
Wayne is my top choice, yes. There was only one school that would have changed my mind and that is Baylor, but since I did not get an MCAT score near the 36-37 needed
, my decision is pretty much
-ed on WSU.
Would a safe bet be Albert einstein and a couple schools in chicago as your alternatives to WSU? yes I have applied there too: Einstein, Rush, Loyola .

Just withdrew from my interview invite. Hope someone gets my spot. 🙂
Hi Everyone,
I just submitted my secondary to Wayne State and received the application complete e-mail. I know it varies, but for those of you who interviewed, what was the timeline between having your application complete and receiving your interview invitation?
Thank you for any information!
Mine was about 2-3 weeks between being complete and getting my interview invite. Also, the scheduled interview was about a month later. I also interviewed at Wayne last year, and it took them almost 2 months from the time I was complete to get my interview invite, so you never know. I know that isn't much help, but it has just been my experience that it could be 2 days or 2 months
Does anyone know how long it generally takes Wayne State to make an admission decision after an interview? I thought I remembered reading a list of dates that Wayne State plans on sending out admissions decisions. Are there such dates? If so, does anyone know what they are? I am interviewing at Wayne State on November 23, however, I have a commitment deposit for another school due on December 15 and I am worried that I will not hear from Wayne before this date.
Hey everyone, I'm hoping I could get some information about how Wayne State is with financial aid. I've been accepted as an OOS applicant which is awesome!, but the tuition is over 60k for a total expected cost of 82k/year. (brutal). I'm wondering if most other OOS students live comfortably with the help of the aid. Hopefully there are scholarship opportunities as well...
If anyone has any information about this stuff, I'd appreciate it big time.
Thanks!
Depends on your own and parental info whether you are eligible for need-based aid. Perkins are available at a certain EFC cutoff and a little lower are Board of Governor Scholarships. The maximum need-based aid between those two is roughly 14,000. There are some scholarships too, but they are pretty rare.
hi guys.. I have a few questions so I hope some of you can help me out.
I received this e-mail on Sep 9:
Thank you for submitting your Secondary Application. We have received all of your materials including letters of recommendation. Please do not respond to this e-mail.
In late Sept, I emailed asking if they would wait for my latest MCAT scores or if they are currently reviewing my application. They informed me that they would wait and that they would look at the highest overall MCAT score. My latest MCAT scores were released Sept 28 and it was a 30S, whereas my previous MCAT from last year was 31Q. I regret retaking the MCAT!
Anyways, I did not get a complete email from them after my MCAT scores were released and I have not heard anything from them. Assuming they received my MCAT scores by at least Oct 1, should I have received another "complete" email? Should I e-mail them asking of my status?
Thanks!
