Got the acceptance call this afternoon, but I withdrew. I hope one you SDN'ers on the waitlist gets the spot!

Goodluck to everyone! I hope to see you all in August!
I thought we werent supposed to hear anything until after may 16? congrats tho 👍
That's what I thought as well. Actually, I wasn't even expecting to hear until a week after May 16. It was a nice surprise 🙂I thought we werent supposed to hear anything until after may 16? congrats tho 👍

I will gladly admit when I am wrong, especially about this. I was merely going on the trends of past years.
In any event, it looks like Wayne State's waitlist season has officially begun, and I wish everyone luck. Here's hoping we ALL get what we want.

On the facebook group for the WSU SOM class of 2015 there are 175 members. Assuming that roughly half that amount didn't join the group, say 90, then 175+90=265 matriculants. I believe last year's class size was around 300. So a rough estimate would be that there are 35 spots open. This is, of course, far from an accurate assessment. I just wonder how long the final waitlist is!
Good luck everyone!
Good luck everyone!

To CrazyCloud: Lol! I like your calculation/estimation methods! However, according to the letter they sent to the waitlisters on 5/4, ALL the spots have been filled, with the exception of a number of spots corresponding to the students that declined their acceptances since yesterday and have not been replaced from the waitlist.

On Monday I had asked about the class and I was told that all spots were filled. I'm assuming that the offers that have been given out thus far correspond to those who withdrew throughout the last week. Every time they make offers they have to wait on the decision of those offers before deciding if they have open spots or not.
Still, I wish everyone here the best of luck.

Any speculation on how much waitlist movement there will be and for how long?
![]()
In years past, waitlist movement has been "significant". This may be due to a number of factors (one probably being Wayne's $80,000+ cost of attendance for OOS'ers) but it generally lasts from now until the start of classes, with most movement occurring now through June, with some trickles during July.

Yeah from what I heard from someone most of the movement occurs in 2nd half of May. I forget who told me it but someone mentioned something similar to me some time back.
just dropped my spot!
OOS, Canadian

Everybody is Canadian...WTF
Wayne is 15 mins from the bridge/tunnel to Canada...
Does WSU let you defer your acceptance for a year? And if so, how easy is it to go about doing this?
thanks!
yes they do but I don't know how easy or hard it is to do. I only know a gms classmate at BU did it to see if med school was for her before committing fully. So it is definitely possible.

If you're already accepted you can defer admission, but if you're on the waitlist and you get the "call", you cannot.
Just got admission offer today good luck to everyone else
I want an offer. Two waitlists, getting desperate for good news. Are you IS or OOS eni?
Can you guys please state whether you were in state or out of state?
Thanks
We appreciate it lots and lots if you do this for us. 🙂
Also, stats if you get accepted. Thanks!

This isn't true. As far as I know you can defer for a year no matter how you get in. If you get in, you obviously don't tell them in the "call" you'll be attending for sure or not... you have all of your paperwork to do and some people are on more than one waitlist so things happen when they don't attend after the call. Wayne is extremely great with being understanding and flexible. I've had friends defer for a year after getting halfway through anatomy and friends defering the first week of classes because their father died. They understand. Talk to Ms. Robinson after you are accepted. She's great from what I can tell.

I'll pm you stats.
Also, from what I've heard regarding deferring it's as Sunshine1025 said. You can defer for a year once you're accepted at any time in the cycle. I haven't heard of people deferring once they start, but if it has happened then that's really understanding and great for certain circumstances.
EDIT: IS

Admissions advisers told me that. Frankly, I'm not surprised that two people are told two different things.
Not that I was planning on deferring, anyway.

OOS, 3.9 ugrad, 30Q, standard ECs, grad gpa pending...
After trying to gain admission since 2008, today all of my efforts have been rewarded. I received the call just after 2:00 pm (while in lab meeting, of all places).
I have been offered admission, and I will be taking it. Good luck to everyone still waiting. I hope to see you all in August!

I know I may have sounded harsh, and again, I apologize to anyone who was offended. It was not my intention.
If anyone has any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. I have been through this process multiple times, you know.
