smashweights, do you remember if your waitlist rank letter came in a large or small envelope?

Do you need to know what it is before you open it? Lol, j/k. Waitlist ranking was in a normal envelope I believe. Never got the final acceptance letter in the mail though. Got a call and raced to the school to get it in person.

well....previous threads were mentioning that the waitlist letter comes in a large envelope, and i am assuming the rejection letter comes in a small one...since we're supposed to get our letters in a week, i'm getting a little anxious ( i thought it would help if i knew what to expect from the size of the envelope....lol )

Just received an acceptance off the waitlist yesterday. I'll be declining it though. Good luck to everyone!

Wow that was fast! I didn't even think they had sent out the letters yet. When did you get the waitlist rank letter? I also thought acceptances are not made until May.

Congrats and hope you have fun wherever you decide to go.

Anyone else get their letters?

I never received a waitlist ranking. Just a big envelope with my acceptance and other paperwork.

If that's true, i'm hoping that that's a sign that there will be a lot of waitlist movement this year if they are starting this early. Now you're going to make me start checking the mailbox relentlessly a month early!!

I finally got my letter! It says I'm on the 'alternate list', but does not say anything about the top, middle, or bottom. Should I be concerned?

might be they haven't ranked it yet? not sure. I only recall getting two letters last year the pre-waitlist "standby" letter and the waitlist "you're in the bottom third" letter.

i got my letter today and got the same exact thing. no rank whatsoever. wish they had more info, because i already took "stand by" as waitlisted anyway.

smashweights,

So you got in this year off of the low waitlist?
When did you receive an acceptance?

No, i got the waitlist letter in february (jan interview). Just would like to get an idea of what the ranking will mean when they come out.

Was your's a waitlist or a standby letter? I just got my alternate list letter today and I had gotten my standby letter in october.

Wait, what are all the differences? mine was a standy ( i thought that was waitlist). and Whats the alternative list- is that the ranked waitlist?

stand-by letter is the post interview decision letter. The waitlist letter is the one that tells you that your are on the waitlist and should give you a rank. The stand-by letter just says that you will know more info about your status when they rank the waitlist. after you've been put on standby you can either make in on the official waitlist or be rejected.

now what is strange about the letters people are getting about the official waitlist is that it says you're on the alternate list and does not give you a rank. ususally the letter is supposed to indicate in you're top middle or bottom third.

hope that helps. don't worry if you haven't received your letter yet. i was told they'll be sending them over the next two weeks.

I just got the letter in the mail saying that I have been put on the alternate list (was previously on the standy-by list). I assume this is the waitlist that they will eventually rank - my letter did not include a ranking.

So basically I got to worry for a week to be in a position I thought I was previously in. Wish I knew how many people are on the alternate list.

I found out from the admissions office that this year they will not be ranking the waitlist. So we won't know where we are and they will not tell us.

Did they give any reason for the change? On my interview day they told us we would receive a ranking, so i'm surprised that changed for this year.

Now the question is how many people did they keep on their wait list this year...

That sucks. I just got my alternate list letter today as well. Was anyone who was previously on the post-interview wait-list actually get rejected in this recent letter or did they basically send this *update* letter out to everyone who was already on the wait-list? Just wondering so I know if we made it past another round of rejections or if we are all exactly where we were a week ago.

I know in the past they actually rejected people at this point. Haven't heard if it is the same this year or not though.

Got the alternate list letter as well (after being put on Stand by sometime back in November).

Well, better than rejection I guess.

Does anyone know if they're planning on ranking or did they just abandon that this year?

Is this a serious question? Someone literally just left a helpful comment yesterday answering this.

Yes, that was me. I called them on Monday and that's what they said. Looks like everyone that was on stand-by (from this thread) made it to the alternate list.

Yeah it was a serious question. No need to get all up in arms because I didn't scan the thread thoroughly enough, jeeze.

Thanks for the info though born2bdoc. I wish that wasn't the case, though.

I think we're all in the same position here of being unsure and having a lot of questions, so I don't really think having an attitude is gonna help anyone.

For real? Chill out.

All of you who are still waiting are in this together. Support each other, don't belittle others' questions. Good luck to you all - I hope to meet at least some of you at orientation in a few short months!

:luck:

seems like there haven't been any rejections from the standby list. but i'm still wondering why one student was sent an acceptance package in the mail and not the alternate list letter. i'm thinking that the students that would have been on the 'top third' got their acceptances already. those on the middle or bottom are most likely all of us on the alternate list. but i'm just speculating.

i wish everyone the best and hope that they get into atleast one school this cycle. let's see what happens after may 15th.

may 15 is taking way too long to get here

i've been waiting since sept 30th and this is the only school i applied to....now imagine how i feel......hopefully something good will come out of the wait for all of us.

They are not ranking the waitlist this year? Wow. That really sucks. It really helps out with planning your next move, especially if this is your last/only shot this year.

Tell me about it. They have it ranked they just don't care to share, apparently. Although if you call the admissions office and sound pitiful enough, they'll tell you what kind of a shot you have.

For those waiting on financial aid information there was an e-mail sent out earlier this week to your WSU (Wings) e-mail account.

Here are some notable points:
"BSOM and the Office of Financial Aid is gearing up to send out award notices of financial aid in mid-May for the 2011-12 academic year."

"The major scholarships have been awarded and the students were notified by email and mail. There is about 9 more scholarships that will be awarded during summer (during June/July). The awards will consist of about $500 to $1,500. Unfortunately, no further information can be provided, if you are a recipient you will be notified. The scholarships will be based off of your admissions application information."[FONT=PrimaSans BT,Verdana,sans-serif]

."You will be notified via your WSU email account when the award notice is available for you... Please note: ALWAYS CHECK YOUR WSU EMAIL ACCOUNT THAT IS THE ONLY WAY WE COMMUNICATE TO YOU!!!!!!!!!"
[FONT=PrimaSans BT,Verdana,sans-serif]
.There is obviously more info than that in the e-mail so you should go read it for yourself if you have not been checking your WSU e-mail account. Your Wings account info should have been sent to you via snail mail shortly after getting your acceptance packet.

Lol yeah thats what I did. I'm not sure if they were just feeling generous or whatever but I basically called and explained my situation (to make a long story short...I have another acceptance at another school but I'd MUCH rather be coming to Wright State for a huge amount of reasons [financial, personal, everything]..and the school that I've accepted at starts in June so tuition is due on May 3rd...so I'm trying to make the decision whether or not to take my chances on Wright/other places or confirm attendance at this place...). Anyway, she basically said that I had a "pretty good shot", that I'd probably be offered something later in the year, and sounded optimistic but was pretty vague other than that. I'm trying not to get to excited about it though.

I have another friend who applied and they told her what half of the waitlist she was on, but I think she spoke to a different person.

So I don't know, good luck! Let me know if they tell you guys anything.

well....just a week before i got my letter i was told i'll get a rank on it....that never happened, and, someone from the standby got an acceptance package without getting an alternate list letter....the lesson to learn here is that each year is different.... I would hate to miss out on a school that has already accepted me and not be sure if the the other will accept me....but then again the decision is yours! Hopefully you'll get an acceptance at WSU before june.:xf:

I know this whole situation pretty much blows. Thanks though and good luck to you too!:luck:

I called admissions on Monday. They chose not to rank the alternate list, however if you are kind to the people in the admissions office they are pretty helpful in giving you an idea of where you stand. I just told her that I was hoping to get a ranking so that I would have an idea in terms of making plans for next year, she was kind enough to ask my name and then she looked up the waitlist and said that Wright State would "probably make me an offer" but she didn't give a timeframe or anything like that.

i tried that too...but got a different answer from different people.....i don't know what to believe....i think i'll set up a time to meet with someone from admissions to get a better idea.

Dr. Peterson is really nice. Just throwing it out there - he tells it like it is, but he is very reasonable and very willing to meet. 👍

Wow, it's been quiet from Wright State recently. I haven't gotten any updates since the financial aid email about a month ago. For those who are accepted, any other news from the school?

Funny you say that, I was thinking the same thing right before I got onto SDN... I haven't been getting any emails recently either. I imagine we will be hearing from fin aid real soon though...
