I was finally rejected today pre-interview, finished secondary way back in July... I figured it was just a silent rejection lol

Do any current students know, from experience or hearsay, whether there is any waiting list movement prior to May 15th? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I know one person had told me they got off before May 15th, but I couldn't tell you how many, or if that's typical. Sorry. The best bet with waitlists is to find that medium of keepoing them up to date with any updates in your life, letting them know how interested you are, and not getting annoying. I remember people telling me that though, and thinking, wow that sounds good, but no idea how to make that real. Make sure they know you're interested, and remember that most of the movement is going to happen after May15 no matter what. The whole idea is that by then they know how many spots they really have. That's true everywhere. So don't get disheartened if there really isn't movement before then. Sorry there really isn't great advice out there for this. Good luck though and try and keep your spirits high.

I called the admissions office the other day and spoke to Emelia, I believe. She said that they really don't start to "look" at the waitlist, at least with great interest, until well after May 15th (Early to mid June). This is apparently to allow them some time to see how many spots open up and how much movement there will be.

On a second note, she also mentioned that they will pick students from the high priority waitlist prior to picking anyone from the regular waitlist. I know that there have been conflicting reports of this in previous years, but this seems to make the most sense. Good luck to my other HPWL comrades!!

I just received my financial aid letter from Einstein. I had applied for the Community and Research Scholarship, but there was no mention of it on the financial aid letter. I take that to mean I did not get the scholarship. Does anyone know if this assumption is correct?

Do you live near Einstein? I haven't received anything yet and wasn't expecting to until May...

Yes, I'm in NYC. It was postmarked March 23rd, so I got it the next day. I also didn't expect to hear back until later. Perhaps I should contact Einstein to make sure, as the cost of attendance will be a major factor for me.

Hmm, that's interesting...it's about 3-4 weeks earlier than last year and scholarship info was also sent around the same time as financial aid info. Since the adcom has to look at our applications for the service and research scholarship, maybe they'll send that info later on?

looking at last year's thread, i believe the financial aid package is sent separately from the research/service scholarship

Does anybody know how many people are put on the waitlist and high priority wl?

I'm not sure of the breakdown, but Einstein's admission site states somewhere that approximately 400 people are initially put on the "waitlist" which I assume means both lists combined.

Thanks for the response. I was just waitlisted today. uGPA 2.92 grad GPA 3.86 MCAT 42

I was placed on the HP waitlist. I interviewed in early February. The email was sent pretty late Sunday night at 10 pm!

High Priority Waitlist as well.

I sure hope there is a lot of movement on the waitlist.

the link we are suppose to click to get to the waitlist section(to accept) appears to be redirecting me to the regular main admissions webpage.

When did all of you interview? I know that gives no actual indication of when I may hear back but somehow it makes me feel better.

This is the last week for anyone to potentially hear about an II. After that it's an assumed rejection. Good luck to everyone else hoping for an II, like me!

I interviewed on 2/15.
Thought my interview went really well, actually, but I guess walking out of the interview with my name tag stuck in my hair (it got stuck there as I was packing up at the end of the interview, and I didn't realize it until I'd left) didn't make a good last impression. But such is life. Time for some updates/letters of intent.

Thanks, just called the admissions office, and was told that the waitlist wouldn't be looked at, either high priority or otherwise, until June, since the committee is still interviewing candidates. :/

I interviewed on 2/8.

It was certainly the strangest interview I have ever had with me ending up saying some very random things. I guess it turned out decently well.

received financial aid today as well... i called einstein and apparently the service and research scholarship will be sent separately (definitely a good thing or else i'd be withdrawing lol)

Did they said when?

Thanks! I interviewed in early March so I wasn't expecting to hear anytime soon. It's just nice to pretend like I have any idea when I will know.

some service and research scholarships have been sent out, but they are in a different envelope than the finaid award letter. (received both today).

Whoa, congrats! If you don't mind me asking, how much did you get from the scholarship award?

Did they said when?

I got a letter in the mail yesterday notifying that I'd received the Service and Research scholarship. It was dated 3/22 and said they wanted a response by 4/1. Just an FYI to everyone still waiting.

What kind of response are they looking for? Do you have to fully commit to the school?

I'm not sure, I called the admissions office and they weren't really sure either but they said they'd get back to me. I'll let you know once I hear back.

Congrats to all accepted! 🙂 and good luck to those all still waiting!

If anyone would want to join, there is a Facebook group for accepted students, a good place to "meet" and exchange comments and questions.

On a side note, I hadn't received my financial aid letter yet either (live in NYC) and I called and they said that they weren't able to pull my FAFSA and that they are looking into it.

Okay update -- I called and they said that if I accept the scholarship, I stilll have until May 15th to make my final decision about whether or not to attend the institution.

Does anyone know when second look day is?

They don't have a formal second look day, but you can arrange to visit on your own (sit in on classes, stay overnight with a student host, meet with a faculty member) through Admissions

So i guess that it's not looking good for those of us who received a FinAid package, and nothing about the Service and Research Scholarship...

I just realized that the $42,722 "Einstein - Direct Unsubsidized" award I received with the heading "Student Aid Award Letter" is just a Stafford Loan and not an actual award.

Bummer. Got my hopes up for about a day.

Well...I guess I'll be waiting on that Service and Research Scholarship..

Hey,

For those that have gotten rejected, was this done via email or mail? Thanks and srry about the rejection (they dont know what they are missing 🙂)

aah. there's that pre-interview rejection I've been waiting for..

Anyone ever hear of someone being accepted off of the regular waitlist?

anyone else hear anything re: service and research scholarship?

I think it's happened judging from last year's thread. I think that sometimes applicants get moved from the waitlist to the high priority list as there's movement.

Cool, is this possible for waitlisted applicants too? I read somewhere that it's sometimes helpful to ask for another visit to the school to talk to students and have more detailed reasons for one's interest, etc.
