I was transmitted in Early August and my secondary didn't arrive till Mid September. I finished it the same day and submitted it. Today I just got an email that said I am complete and now under review.

Does Drexel send out complete email? I've been done since mid-Sept and have never gotten a complete email

I never received one either, and I applied early Sept. My status page had said I was under review for a while though. If you haven't yet, check the status page.

Freshly hatched third year student at Drexel here. If anyone has any questions, I'll try to answer any that I see. If anyone has any questions they're embarassed to ask in the thread, feel free to message me (I don't know what would be too embarrassing but I guess something along the lines of "I am interviewing in a month. can you tell me what a doctor is?" would count)

Re: class cohesiveness

PIL, as the smaller of the two curriculums, tends to be more cohesive by its nature. This is compounded by the fact that its atomic unit is the small group, which adds an extra level of social togetherness to the whole thing. As an someone who went through IFM, I can tell you that while it is larger, people tend to be just as friendly. You'll fall into your own groups and friends and the like, but from my experience everyone has seemed pretty cool and you can involve yourself further in the student body by involving yourself in activities and events.

And then in third year the difference vanishes because IFM and PIL have poofed away and everyone is in the same boat.
Hello,

I'm interviewing at Drexel on 11/15 and was wondering if you would share some insider tips and advice. I'm doing my best to research what I can about the school. What else do you suggest I do to prepare for the interview besides the usual?

Still no status change from 10/5 interview...this is killing me. Ugh....

Same here, and I interviewed the same day. Don't you just love the waiting? 😏

Love it! Yeah, thanks for posting though. I was concerned I got voted off the island.

Has anyone skipped over any of these status and gone right to decision? Wishful thinking, I guess.

FINALLY!

current status: "Your file is currently under review by a member of the admissions committee and will be sent to committee shortly. No decision has yet been made regarding your admission status to Drexel University."

Interviewed: 10/14
Status Change: 11/03

Accepted!!!

My stats:
AMCAS GPA: 3.0c, 3.1s
MCAT:35R
Have research experience. Have been an EMT for about a year. Tutored the sciences regularly out of school's tutoring center. Nontrad student (27 y/o). Did very poorly my first years of college (academically dismissed, in fact), took time off to pursue career in music, returned to school to graduate summa cum laude with a B.S. in molecular biology. Have been getting As and A-s for the past 2 years.

Just goes to show you that you can't believe what most people say. Many people on here are neurotic to the core and think there's a certain standard of perfection med schools want that, frankly, is unrealistic. They want real people with real world experience, not student-robots.

Good luck to all applicants!

congrats!

Hey Self,

In the same boat as you, although I'm still waiting to hear back about a decision. Hope to see you at Drexel!

Congrats!

Hey guys I never got a "secondary complete and under review" email either... in fact I think they forgot about my file cause they sent my secondary only after I e-mailed them that I never got one (which I sent about a month or more after my primary). I completed my secondary 1st week of Sept. and my status says "will be reviewed." Should I just wait around or should I e-mail?

I recently had the "no decision has been reached" status. I haven't been checking every day, but now it says "
A decision has been reached and a letter will be mailed to a preferred address. "

I guess I will be wait listed.

Yes... they took a long time to send out the secondary application.. I think they wait for the paper copy of the primary which amcas sends out after verification

If it says "complete and will be reviewed," then it probably hasn't been reviewed yet. I never received a secondary complete email either and I got an interview invite. If you're worried though, you can always email. 🙂

On HOLD since 9/17. Is there any II after being on HOLD?

Hello,

I'm interviewing at Drexel on 11/15 and was wondering if you would share some insider tips and advice. I'm doing my best to research what I can about the school. What else do you suggest I do to prepare for the interview besides the usual?

Don't be thrown by the essay, it is not really a big deal. After that, it is just business as usual. Try to be at ease, be able to hold a good conversation, and it is more likely to help you than not if you have school-specific questions to ask, such as about the clinical years. As with every school, it shows you have or are able to convincingly feign an interest in the place.

Student interviews are pretty chill and are basically to determine whether or not you are a functioning social animal that other people can stand to talk to for fifteen minutes. Faculty interviews average out to be laid back across the board, but no promises. As everywhere, some interviewers are just intense.

For faculty interviewers, be prepared to tailor your questions to their involvement with students. Basic science profs won't have tons to say about clinical years, and someone who runs a service at Hahnemann and lectures twice a year might not be able to tell you much about classes. Preparing a spectrum of relevant and focused questions will help you.

I did tons of interviews in my first and second year, and few people expressed concerns about faculty interviews.

It's probably good I don't interview folks anymore. I probably singlehandedly devalued the worth of a med student's interviews because my evals tended to range from "good interview, wouldn't mind seeing this person accepted" to "I am going to become actively angry with and disappointed in my school if this applicant is not offered an acceptance".

The only negative reviews I've ever submitted were for a dude who didn't talk and looked like he was having a heart attack the entire time, and a girl who said the reason she chose MD schools over DO for applications was because she wanted to practice medicine and be educated in science. That... That was a silly interview.

+1. This has been my status since before my 10/5 interview: Your interview has been scheduled. If you've already appeared for the interview, your application will now be progressing through the Admissions Committee process.

Has anyone else who interviewed 10/5 or later had a status change beyond this?

I interviewed on 10/13 and my status changed from "Your interview as been scheduled. If you've already appeared..." to "Your file is now with a member of the admissions committee...."

Thanks Snow. Perhaps my interviewer (s) forgot to submit my file. I guess I'll just be patient awhile longer. 😳

i interviewed on the 5th and have "final decision has been made" still waiting for my snail mail...

Med I was there on the 5th and still have the same status.

Do you receive a phone call upon acceptance or is it just all by mail?

For those of you who have just received the complete and review status.. has anyone received an interview invite yet??

Ahhhhh I've been on "under review" for over a month and I just got the "final decision" status this morning. :scared:

Thanks for sharing! Your story is encouraging!

Does anyone know if student interviewers are actually part of the admissions team at Drexel or whether they just provide feedback or a short write-up on their opinion of each applicant they interview which the admissions committee uses as another reference?

According to the Director of Admissions, students write up an opinion that is presented to the committee just as the faculty interview. Consider the student interview to be just as important as the faculty interview.

My student interviewer provided me with their email address but they didn't message me back after I sent a Thank You email to them. Is that not a good sign? I also wrote how I would inform them on my progress. Does anyone think I should email my student interviewer again with the aim of trying to get them to respond? If so, how should I do this tactfully?

The same thing happened to me. I wouldn't sweat it.

Guys, I wouldn't sweat this too much. If you sent a thank you e-mail, you did your part. We're all pretty busy and get a lot of e-mail from school, so unfortunately some things fall through the cracks. Not that it's the most professional thing not to respond, but it does happen. Just try to relax, okay?

Calm down most interviewers DO NOT reply back to your emails simply because they have so much to do. None of my 5 interviewers including Drexel replied back to my thank you notes. The assumption is that they read it and in the end that's all that matters.

well when it is a student interviewer who gives you their email, and says they will answer any questions that come up, its a bit of a different story 😀

Exactly lol.. I'm so worried now. What should I do? I don't think I directly asked a question in my email so does anyone know a good question I could ask if I do send another email?
