Yay interview 😍! and they invited me THE DAY AFTER my MCAT scores came out! awesome. I'll be there 11/10

Secondary completed Aug-18
but my new MCAT score didn't come out until Oct-4
so I had all my med apps placed on hold for that... gluck!! thx for the interview infos

They should have just asked us the question in their secondary haha

They actually have a very good reason for not having the question in the secondary. They want to see how you think (and write) for yourself, without the influence of another person. There apparently (I don't have a citation) was some research that found that the majority (80% ish) of applicants receive help writing personal statements and answering secondary questions. In the past, Drexel has received identical answers to secondary questions and personal statements. Drexel also recognizes that there is a lot of the application process promotes disingenuousness, and the essay on interview day is in part an attempt to get past that.

The prompts/question are pretty straight forward and ethics-based. The dean of admissions has said that they are very forgiving of improper spelling and grammatical errors, so don't worry about that. If you follow the directions, have common sense, and do not write in crayon, you should be fine.

Good luck, all.

Oh darn, there goes my plan to write in lime green crayon! These admission officers are on to us lol.

Is the essay timed? Not that I have no problem with time (in fact, I think I do my best work under pressure lol), but I'm curious.

Anyone have luck getting an II after on hold? I realize that at least someone will have, but I'm wondering how common it is...

You have a set amount of time to finish, yes, but you aren't rushed.

I really enjoyed my interview day at Drexel and got a good feel from the school and community. Hoping for good news.

Just got done with the interview today, the school is pretty decent and the interview was very laid back. The only issue with the school is that their gym was a little small lol the rest was pretty damn awesome!

Just checked my status and saw I had an II! yay! Hopefully I can schedule it for the same time I'll be at TCMC to save myself a flight.

yay, such a good way to start the weekend!

Warning: don't call inquiring about your status or you will receive a snide and irritated reply. At least I got one. Lesson: stop being neurotic.

I was there today too! 🙂

I also really liked the school. Some things I didn't love were the admissions staff and the distance/shuttle to the hospital. Both are pretty minor though, so overall great school.

Hospital shuttle ain't no thang. You aren't really going down there for the first two years all that much, so the distance is irrelevant. The shuttle only matters during the clinical years for some core bits of the Medicine/Surgery rotations and anything else you have in the Hahnemann area - although, if they keep trying to take away our 5 and 6 AM shuttle times, I encourage you to keep not loving the shuttle.

Hi all,

It's been a while since I've posted on here, but I graduated from Drexel this past year, and have to say that I really enjoyed the experience. The shuttle was an ongoing issue when I was there, in the sense that there were no early AM shuttles before 6AM. This is only an issue if you are on Surgery or OB rotations that require you to be at the hospital by 6AM or some equally awful hour. I believe they added two earlier shuttles this year, one at 5something and the other at 6something. The shuttle service is awesome to have, even if you are going downtown to hang out for the evening, *not* at the hospital. 🙂

I know you aren't at this point in your medical education, but so you know, we overall did pretty well in the match this year. I can only speak for myself, but I will say that I got into my top choice training program.

I'd be happy to answer specific questions about Drexel, applying in general, interviewing, residency, etc. Just shoot me a private message.

Good luck!

Haha nice I remember you, I was sitting at front of you in the conference room! Good luck with the application.

Is anyone else having issues with the site? I'm trying to schedule my interview but I can't get into status area

On hold for re-review at a later time. Looks like Drexel passed me up.

Had an interview here, but didn't feel like it went well. How did other people feel about their interview?

Had an interview here, but didn't feel like it went well. How did other people feel about their interview? I felt like my guy was extremely uninterested from the get go and would pretty much cut me off whenever I said more than 10 words. It also only lasted 20 minutes....is that unusual given that it was a 30 minute time slot?

What type of physician was he? I had an interview that lasted <20 minutes at a different school. I feel that the time it takes for the interview just depends on the interviewers personality.

I interviewed on September 20th and I keep checking online but it says no decision has been made yet. Do we know any sort of timeline of when they start making decisions, when they update, and when they start notifying?

Has anyone else who has already interviewed seen any updates?

No AMCAS school is permitted to reveal decisions until October 15th, so it's pointless to check your status prior to Saturday.

I also had an interview here today. Mine lasted 15 minutes and the interviewer seemed very disinterested/cold. He asked me questions with my AMCAS right in front of him and based off those questions, he definitely did not read it before we met. He mostly spent the 15 minutes reading the application. Two people went after me and I spoke to one person after we both left. He had the same experience (15 minutes). The interviewer had papers piled so highly on his desk I couldn't even see over them/see him while sitting lol. My student interviewer was much more personable and welcoming.

Does anyone know how receptive Drexel is to an update letter after you've been placed on hold?

Has anyone who attended an interview received a status other than this one yet?

Your interview has been scheduled. If you've already appeared for the interview, your application will now be progressing through the Admissions Committee process.

Interviewed earlier and I have this same status as well.

I interviewed on 9/19/11 and have this: Your file is currently under review by the admissions committee. No decision has yet been made regarding your admission status to Drexel of University.

Does anyone know the numerical specifics about how many Apply to the school, how many receive interview invites and how many are admitted?

Thank you. Congrats to all those with interviews. 👍

According to US News & World Report:

12582 Total Applicants
1356 Interviewed
650 Accepted

It is in the sense of how many they interview. About 1 in 12.

Some schools interview 1 in 24... like Tulane.

Doesn't Tulane accept a pretty high percentage of interviewees? Although if Drexel accepts 50% then you have a pretty good chance of getting in once you have an interview. 😛

Complete 9/1 and still no decision yet... my status remains: "Your file is complete and will be reviewed." Are there people complete in August who still haven't received decisions?

huh? what does that have to do with anything.... Tulane has a higher acceptance rate after interviewing (60 some % compared to Drexel which is 50 %). Let us not forget the goal is to get accepted not just to interview. So why not look at the numbers that ACTUALLY get ACCEPTED. Based on that Drexel is not a safety school by any means. I apologize for hurting the egos of some of you SDN users. Good luck

Great school, thinking about applying here as well. good luck guys! :xf:

Yes, it changes to this:

...
until Oct 17th rolls around:xf:

One of my friends got complete 10/6 and got an interview invite 10/12 😕

Bit disheartening for me but I'm happy for her 🙂

When does Drexel STOP interviewing and does anyone know the chances of being accepted vs put on hold/rejected for those interviewing after a certain time point?

🙂

Does anyone know when Drexel starts sending acceptances? Is it via USPS on Oct 17th?
Cheers!

I was looking at the Drexel website to prepare for my interview and noticed that they have a lot of opportunities to get involved in community and underserved population. Can any current student elaborate a bit more on the programs? Also, can anyone comment about the medical humanities program and also the PIL curriculum?

Thanks a lot!
