I think that DUCOM historically (from looking at older numbers) accepts slightly less than 50% of the out of state candidates that they interview. Having said that, it is kind of a toss up. So long as you had a pretty good interview and you're EC's aren't terribly below average, I would suspect an acceptance for you.

Thanks for the info. I'm just wondering that of the 50% that they don't accept, how many sit on the waitlist vs. how many are outright rejected post-interview?

I doubt anyone knows the definitive answer to these questions, but if you have any clues, please chime in!

If I remember from the interview presentation, they said their averages last year were a 3.4 and a 30 or 31 I think? Seems like you have a pretty good shot but I don't want to jinx you!

Do they favor in state at all?
I saw in this thread that acceptance is given to 600/1300 interviewed.
 
I got the acceptance letter today...interviewed late november. I'll be withdrawing so I hope one of you gets my spot!
 
Almost 4 weeks post-interview and I still have the "Your interview has been scheduled.." :scared: ::sigh:: Come on Drexel, let's get this ball rolling!! Dr. Parrish said at this stage in the process, we'd be hearing in about 6 weeks -- seems unlikely (especially after seeing how long some people have had to wait!!), but I'll try to remain hopeful! 😛
 
I interviewed on Nov. 3. I haven't been checking as often because I knew the process was long but I viewed my status to see that I have gotten the 'final decision has been reached' message. I called admissions to ask when the letter would be sent and a rude, annoyed representative told me 'yesterday' and then more or less hung up. It really gave me a bad vibe.. He barely spoke to me and I'm skeptical as to whether he even acknowledged my question. Does this not reflect well on what my decision is? I hope I'm not rejected... His attitude was so unwelcoming as if I should never call admissions again..😕🙁

I'm not trying to back him up on his rudeness but I bet that question gets asked all the time. They really should specify on their website or something. I don't think it'll have any impact on your decision as they've already decided and moved on to other applicants. The final decision status means accepted or rejected so keep your fingers crossed. Just remember that whatever the decision is most likely had nothing to do with your phone call.

Tomorrow will be 11 weeks since my interview. I just want to be sent to committee already!
 
yup, tomorrow will be 12 weeks since my interview, my app still hasn't gone to committee
 
well actually, my status has gone to "with a member of the committee" to "under review by admissions committee" since last week.. some progress perhaps?

I too have noticed rudeness when calling this school. Its always the same guy too. I understand his job might be tough, but come on, I'd say we're in a much tougher situation than they are. Nothing bad against the school though, I loved the school when I interviewed... just don't appreciate the shortness.

Amen to that. We're forced to wait for weeks on end to hear a decision that dramatically impacts the rest of our lives. It's just another day at work for them. You'd think they'd show a little compassion and/or have some patience.
 
Anybody know what are the chances of getting pulled from the hold list? I think mine says that my app will be re-evaluated at the end of the season bla bla bla...

when does the app get re-evaluated? (like what month?)

Curious to know this, as I received the same status today.
 
My first acceptance! Literally broke down and cried when i got the letter this afternoon.

Interviewed 10/18
Final decision status 1/27
Accepted 2/3

Thanks SDN for all of the advice and helping me neurotically pass the time!
 
Sorry to hear! Definitely feel your pain.

Would you mind sharing you stats? I'm still waiting for my letter!

Interviewed on 1/23, and with a member on 1/23.
2/3, i dont know whether it was today or before but, it is now with the committee.

I hope so too...
I think it wont be that fast; it would not be fair for the other applicants.

Hopefully by end of March...but..probably by April or so..., I will hear back from them.

by the way, I was interviewed by Dr. Eisen, if anyone is wondering who turns in their evaluation quickly.

And Best luck to you, TFA girl with short blond hair (are u that girl?)

I interviewed with Dr. Eisen as well! My file is still under review by the committee, which I figured. However, it was really nice that we didn't have to wait so long to get that status, no? Lol.

Hahaha...I *also* had Dr. Eisen! It was a pretty short interview compared to my other ones...but I think it went well enough.

MCAT 31R--including an *8* in verbal. I kept getting 37s the practice exams with 9-11 in verbal, but just can't seem to do it in real life 🙁

I've been a volunteer EMT for 6 yrs, worked in a research lab for a yr and a half after graduation, had published research back in college (non-medical), and volunteered in hospitals for about 3 yrs plus some other ecs.

Schools applied to: 23
Interviews granted: 7
Acceptances so far: 0.

Come onnnnn Drexel. Come onnnnnnnn Drexel!!

Good Luck! I wouldnt worry about your MCAT too much mine was like 3 pts. lower and I still got in. I hope you have some good news.

I think it is absolutely absurd how long some of us have had to wait, and I also think that they're rudeness is inexcusable. I've been waiting for like 14 weeks. I won't be coming here. I've had other acceptances and think that their admissions staff reflects horribly on the school.
 
The wait seems like it can get crazy here -- why not just move to non-rolling admissions? Are there certain members of admissions that are notoriously slow in terms of submitting their interview evaluations?

Either that, or just have shorter application deadlines and decisions. If I wasn't going to get in anywhere, I'd just like to know already. Aside for Drexel, there's a few schools I interviewed at and have been wait-listed or haven't heard from yet. But because I don't even have one acceptance, I will have to restudy for and take the MCATs, reapply to med school, take the GREs and apply to grad school or find a job in the event that I don't get in, and after all that, I might find out during the summer that I got in somewhere. It's a horrible decision process.
 
I'm sorry to hear of your frustrations...you get furious at the system because you're waiting watching every minute tick by on the clock for a decision that will decide your entire future. Unfortunately there are just so many people running this rat race alongside you that the process becomes really inefficient and causes you a ton of headaches. Even worse is that this will repeat in four years when you're aiming for residency positions.

I had to go through the process twice...I've sat and waited for phone calls that never came, I've gotten the waitlist letters and waited for the update that I was accepted that never came...hell I'm STILL waiting on rejections from some schools (maybe they're still considering me 5 years later?)

There's nothing that can be done/said by anyone other than the admission department, but just be patient and find something to do to keep your mind off of things while you wait for the decision letter to arrive in your mailbox.

...and try not to base your opinions of the entire school based off of the person who answers phones in the admissions office (honestly I did the same thing to other schools and parts of me regret that now).

Just playing devil's advocate here but do you think the admissions office can be a reflection of the school as a whole? Generally, I also seemed to like schools where I liked how the admissions office was run - even if it meant I found out about my rejection early.

It's hard to say. Once you matriculate you won't interact with the admission department (unless you choose to work on the other side). Also, some people (myself included) had a good experience with the admissions department at Drexel. I did, however, have a really hard time dealing with the neighboring schools' admission departments, and I was so frustrated with them that after I had received my Drexel acceptance I withdrew my interviews from all of the other schools that treated me like crap previously.

I probably shouldn't have done that, but it worked out in the end. It will work out for everyone reading this as well...you just need to be persistent enough and don't let the crappy process get you down.
