Has anyone ever gotten a decision in the mail without having their online status change? I was told via email I'm now with the committee but my status online still says I'm with a member of the committee. This Thursday will be 13 weeks so I'm dying to hear some news soon.

Unfortunately, a decision most likely hasn't been made unless you have the "decision / final decision" status. I know it's agonizing (you can read my posts from last year's thread!). Hang in there.

Have any of you read the book entitled Your Medical Mind by Jerome Groopman?😉

Keep your head up Black Adam. I applied for the second time this year and I decided to apply to a few D.O. schools 1 of which I've been accepted to... M.D. schools are definitley extremely hard and complicated to get into. I know you have a solid MCAT so I bet you would get into an MD school the 2nd time around, maybe just review and adjust the schools to which you applied to. Also, think about applying to D.O. schools. I know for me I was super stubborn about it for a while but at the end of the day I want to be a Pediatrician and as a D.O. I can become just that and be amazing, regardless of the letters at the end of my name.

Has anyone who has had to wait 10+ weeks to hear been accepted? I feel like it's not a good sign.

it took me 12 weeks to get my final decision-and i was accepted! don't lose hope!

yay! i have hope. i feel like i've been staring at the mailbox like that dog on top of a couch against the window

btw- anyone hear of someone getting waitlisted at 7+ schools and not getting in for the year?

I interviewed at 7 schools so far. 5 waitlists. 1 hasn't given word. And then accepted to Drexel. Maybe you are following my example? 😀

Anyone know if they're still sending out II's? Been on hold since around August, so I don't know if that means I'll be hearing from them soonish or I'm destined for the garbage heap.

I'm in the same boat, I've been complete since 8/1, I have "Your file has been reviewed and will be re-evaluated later in the season for a final decision" as my status. Still hopeful though 🙂

It's now 3 weeks since I've been "under review by the admission's committee". I thought that once it gets to that status they proceed briskly.

Member 584978!

Any updates on your status???

I got the "final decision" update yesterday. I'm now checking the mail at least twice a day! Here's to hoping its a good final decision and not a bad one!

Does anyone know when they send out the letters after they have updated your status? Is there any chance my letter is on its way already?

And just for those of you who are curious, I interviewed on 1/9 and was "under review by the committee" for about 3 weeks before I got the final status.

Ugh, I interviewed before you and I'm still at "Your interview has been scheduled..." 🙁 So frustrating!

I hope it's good news though!! :xf:Keep us posted!

Damn I interviewed same day as you and nothing.... status still says application with admissions committee 🙁

Can I ask your stats?

My stats are nothing special. 3.57/3.46 (or around that for the science GPA I actually can't remember) and 31Q.

Good luck to everyone waiting! I have a feeling my student and faculty interviewer were particularly speedy with turning in their reviews.

finally with the committee after 14.5 weeks. wonder how long it'll sit with the committee.

I got a final decision as well! I guess I lucked out and my app post-interview went through the stages really quickly. Good luck to everybody who are getting decisions next week:xf:

damn, got the rejection (post interview) today-- and i was so hopeful =(, so 7 interviews, 4 waitlists, 1 rejection

I'm sorry. 🙁 On the plus side, congrats on your king's ransom of interview invites. I'm confident that one will pull through for you by May. Good luck with your remaining decisions!

I interviewed back in mid-November, but was still with an adcom member last week. Shot them a quick email and received a reply today confirming that there is a large backlog of apps and that they are working as fast as possible. :xf:

I don't know if any students will be able to comment on this, but if you could at least direct me to a faculty member that may be able to it would be greatly appreciated...

...but I want to get your opinion on how you feel Drexel's relationship with Allegheny General may be in the next few years? I have family in Pittsburgh so I would be interested in doing some rotations there, but I know Temple is establishing a lot better of a relationship with AGH (they are opening a branch campus right down the road, I believe next year). Just wondering if the available rotation possibilities would still be available 3-4 years from now when I'd be doing rotations.

Thanks for any help!

I interviewed 1/19 and a final decision was reached 2/17 (Fri). My stats are not great by any means. 3.94/3.93 (engineering degree) & 29. Compared to other comments, 4 weeks seems like a really quick decision. Any ideas on whether that is good or bad? I should receive the letter by the end of the week. Thanks.

I'm currently rotating at Allegheny. Literally, sitting here in a computer lab waiting for a patient's skin test to result in a reaction or not.

Anyway, Temple had been expanding their relationship, but that is on hold now for financial reasons. AGH and its associated hospitals were bought by Highmark, and everything is up in the air now, especially with a lot of Highmark's money tied up by red tape surrounding the buy.

As of now, things are static with no changes looking to be looming in the near future.

So do you think that this transition is more going to depend on Temple's financial situation, or more on the UPMC vs Highmark contract situation? I know its a lot of speculation at this point, but just trying to look into the future and see what opportunities will be available in 3-4years.

Also, how do you enjoy/despise rotating through AGH?

Once the. Highmark situation is sortd out, it probably depends on what Highmark wants to do, but like you said that'd justbe speculation on my part. I think the 1st year class this year was still asked if they wanted to spend their whole third year at AGH, so they are at least somewhat confident about 2 years into the future.

I like AGH just fine. I'd prefer to be in Philly, but we are all sinners in the hands of an angry
Lottery and must respect its decisions. People seem to like the rotations out here, with the possible exception of pediatrics. Folks interested in peds don't like to do it out here. The reason is that when AGH's network moved it's primary pediatric service to AGH from suburban, they lost something like 80% of their inpatient volume because patients thought they just stopped offering peds. And it is hard to win in a peds PR campaign against a hospital that has children in its name.

Good place, though.

By the time you would get here, in theory there will be a big expanded peds unit and much better inpatient volume so you can learn floor management for kiddos. Outpatient volume and NICU are fine as is, so no worries on that front.

I had almost identical stats and heard back within 4 weeks with an acceptance! It just means your interviewers completed their forms quickly. Don't let that worry you!

Accepted!

Do we have to send back the clinical options form with the pre-reg deposit? I'm OOS, so I'm a little unclear what the advantage is for choosing the single site rotation over the multiple site option.

Great! The wait is brutal. I'm suppose to hear from a few school by the end of the week, but I really liked Drexel. Thanks for the response, and hopefully I'll be getting a similar letter. Congrats.

They ask you again in second year. The advantage is that you don't have to move around, but people generally opt for it if they have friends or family in the area of the clinical site.

Yeah I didn't send mine back at all.

And thank you QuizzicalApe for answering my questions yesterday

To those who got acceptances, when did you all interview? I interviewed on 1/3 and got a final status on 2/17... my mail hasn´t come yet! I am so nervous!!

I interviewed 1/9 and got the final decision on 2/15. Considering my mail had to travel all the way to Cali you'll probably get it today or tomorrow! Good luck!!

It says I'm on hold on for final review (Pre-Interview). Does everyones say this? can i still get an interview?

I've had this since the end of September. I'm guessing the chances are very small for an interview at this point.

Thanks! Do you get to choose/list your preferences for your sites?
