Financial aid is on OPUS. Can't say my package is that great 🙁
Yep...same here. 🙁

I would say its unlikely. If its anything like being an undergrad here, the financial aid is really stingy.
I received information about my financial aid package for Emory yesterday, and I was very impressed. Also, the Woodruff interviews were last weekend, and I think they notified most of the attendees that Sunday or Monday.
I declined my spot on the alternate list on Friday. Best of luck to everyone still on it!
I accepted alternate status on Monday night (after business hours), and got a confirmation e-mail Wednesday around noon.Did everyone who responded to accept or decline alternate status get emails confirming their decisions? I haven't yet, and I wanted to know when I should start worrying and email them about it. Thanks!

I have yet to receive a confirmation.

Same here. Accepted the alternate status late on Monday night (4/2) and received the confirmation e-mail Wednesday morning (4/4).

I haven't received a confirmation email, but I didn't accept my alternate status until Wednesday afternoon (4/4).
I accepted alternate list back on March 27th and still haven't received anything from them.
I'm gonna call tomorrow and ask... I also updated my file and I didn't get any type of confirmation back either.
OK, I just received the verification email. I declined alternate status on Friday.
I accepted alternate status 3/27 and haven't received a confirmation email. I emailed them today, however, and they never received my email in the first place. They let me resend it though. I hope this doesn't lessen my chances.
But definitely contact them if you haven't received a confirmation on your waitlist status.

Thanks for letting us know! I will call the admissions office tomorrow and check on the status of my waitlist response.
Just received a package of just staffords. Looks like there may be another spot for those on the wait list.

Same story + a minor 2k grant. I'm also withdrawingJust received a package of just staffords. Looks like there may be another spot for those on the wait list.
Does anyone know if they have started going to the alternate list yet? Sounds like a few people are withdrawing but does anyone have any idea what the turn around time is like for them to accept waitlisted students? I figure there wont be that much movemen till may 15 but

I was wondering the same thing. Does anyone know if Emory "over-accepts," or is each withdrawal a spot that opens up for someone on the alternate list?

If I remember correctly from my interview day, I believe that roughly twice the number of people in the class get accepted (either initially or off the waitlist). This should mean that about 260-290 people get accepted at some point or another.
Every year is different though.
Has anyone who is currently on the wait-list received an email regrading a financial aid award?
I have gotten several saying I needed to fill out some other forms, but tonight I got one that say something about my financial aid award which seemed rather strange since I am on the alternate-list.

Has anyone seen an updated match list for 2012 yet?
I'm pretty sure they gave us the 2012 match list at second look (may have been 2011 though). You could probably email admissions and ask for a copy. If you're interested in a particular specialty, I can check and post the relevant info later today/tonight.

Hi everyone!!
I am thinking about applying to Med School. Can anyone who recently just got accepted into Emory please contact me by any chance? I just want to have a one on one conversation in regards to med school with a few questions. I would really appreciate if someone can really take maybe 1 minute to send me an email! Thank you all so very much! My email is: [email protected]

For a white male with a decent GPA (3.85) and decent ECs/Research, what type of MCAT score would be required to be competitive? I have heard 34?

Yeah, I think they like to see 11 or higher in each subsection:
http://med.emory.edu/main/education/admissions/md/how_to_apply/application_requirements.html
But I'm sure it's possible to get in with lower scores, as long as other parts of your application are good.
Does anyone know how many students Emory originally accepts?
Has there been any wait list movement?
I know quite a few people on Emory's waitlist... haven't heard a peep yet about any movement.
However, in their e-mail they say that they usually don't start accepting people until June...
And their e-mail also says they accept anywhere between 3-4 and 20.. however that seems extremely low to me.
Really, at most only 20/137 = 14% of their class comes from the waitlist? That seems very low compared to most schools I think.😕

Also, just some extra SDN neuroticism.. last year Emory started calling people off the waitlist ~around this week.

When I called yesterday, I was told that the class was still booked and that there hasn't been any wait list movement...yet.

Agree with your points...someone suggested earlier that Emory might actually WL EVERYONE they interview, perhaps to foster a general illusion of being close. This might explain why you know so many WL'ed there.
I am also skeptical that they would accept only a handful (3-4) ever from their WL...some schools yet more competitive sometimes admit that this is not true of them. And surely some schools (think public) admit up to half of their classes from their WL's as accepted candidates get in late to Baylor, Emory, Vandy, etc.
According to last year's thread (a current student asked the dean), Emory doesn't reject anyone post-interview. So I guess the waitlist must be huge. =(>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The Emory FB group is currently at about 110, which includes some current M1s and M2s posting on the FB group.
I hope that there is some movement or clarification of all of this very soon. I know many of us are accepted at other great schools Wake,Vandy,UNC, extc.....but are still waiting on Emory as their number 1 choice. If everyone is automatically waitlisted I would assume it is huge. Also, it seems strange to only accept 4-5 off of the waitlist compared to many of the other top schools.
No word yet? Yikes, this is making me pretty nervous now
there's been steady waitlist movement at Emory for a while now
Oh. Thank you for letting us know. Did you call to ask? Any other information you could share?
Thanks again.
