I thought the interviews were closed? Usually the ethical ones come up in open interviews?

The interviewer had my essays and activities only. One of my friends had a similar experience, so I'm wondering if it is just this one specific interviewer and we both happened to have the person. I was shocked because the Gtown interviews are notoriously conversational, so I wasn't expecting the hard core ethical questions. If you stumble upon this interviewer, just stick with your values!

Best wishes!

My interview here was very interesting. LOVED the curriculum, location, clinical rotations, etc. Did anyone else get slammed with ethical questions?

Yes, I had the ethical questions, too. Maybe we had the same guy.

What's worse -- waiting for Georgetown for make a decision or watching hours of "Congressional Influence on U.S. Foreign Policy" on C-SPAN?

Great first post.

I'm studying for a nanotechnology quiz. The waiting is much worse.

Just got the email letting me know a decision was made. I logged on and I've been put on the wait list. Interviewed 9/12. From MD, 30/3.86/3.92

My interview was...interesting but not bad. 🙁

Email to check status.

Competitive applicant pooled.

Same. Do they have two waitlists? They said that we'd be considered after all the interviews. When do they finish interviewing?

I don't think they have two wait lists.

They even said the majority get put in the competitive applicant pool. It still sucks.

can someone please post link to status check?! thanks in advance!

Accepted this morning!!! 🙂

Will be declining the offer in the next couple weeks. Hopefully someone on the waitlist gets it 😀, and I hope it goes to an SDNer!

You're racking them up! Congrats!

Also placed in the competitive applicant pool.

34/3.4/3.5

so im freaking out. anyone interview mid-sept or later and get a decision today? i love this school so freaking much 🙁

I interviewed the first week in September and also haven't received an email yet...

Were u guys accepted via phone call or email? I interviewed Sept. 14th and have yet to hear anything.

Placed in the competitive applicant pool. My interview didn't go so well, so it's not a huge disappointment.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the competitive applicant pool and the waitlist? Or are these the same thing?

Hey congrats everyone on acceptances or waitlists! Yes, I said congrats on waitlist, because that pretty much means you are in. It is NOT a disappointment to get on the waitlist. It just means that they want you to come, but they want to make sure YOU want to come. If you are serious about the school, write a letter and you will get in. I would say 50% of our class were in the competitive applicant pool, so don't lose hope.

For those of you who got in, please please please come to Second Looks at all schools you get accepted to! Thats when you really decide what school you want to go to. And ours is super fun, so there's that.

When would you recommend writing this letter?

Sooner would be better, I would imagine. The whole point of the letter is to show Georgetown that you are actually interested. It should be more about why Georgetown is one of your top choices and what you can bring to the school. Saying something about cura personalis won't hurt.

Again, the point is to make sure that you want to go here. If Georgetown isn't your top choice and you get in some place else, chances you won't write a letter. But if you are super excited about the school, you probably will write a letter.

Good luck everyone, I'm sure it will turn out great for you all!

Does anyone know when the next round of post-interview responses come out?

If we want to send a thank-you email for the interview (gunnnerrrr), what address are we supposed to use? I know they said to e-mail Dr. Lauerman about status updates if we are wait-listed, but i'm not sure if this also applies to this type of email (they also have a regular medical admissions email address). Help?

Mrs. Sullivan said we could just email her the thank you letters as attachments, and then she'd make sure they get to the right people

What I do is just ask for the interviewer's card during the interview and send the thank you to that address (a physical one, hand written one, not email).

OOOhhhh nooo...I just looked at my secondary again and it's actually a little over a page but still under 5000 characters. Yikes!!!! Do they go by one-page rule or 5000 characters? I only paid attention to the 5000 character rule???? 😕

I really do not think this is a big deal at all. 🙂

What would you guys say if the interviewer asks what other profession you would pursue besides being a physician and why?

Just be honest! Even if it's something you know you wouldn't enjoy nearly as much as a career in medicine, just say that.

Personally, I would go into certain areas of science, although my career would almost certainly lack something major that I can only get from medicine.

Rejected pre-interview. Complete 9/27. Best of luck to everyone still in the running!

I think this question is depended on the individual. But I agree you have to be honest so they get to see you considered other options.
