Yeah mine was "high-priority" as well. Not sure what that means exactly.
During the interview, Dr. Callahan mentioned that the high priority are the first people that get accepted once others start to withdraw their application. Based upon her description, it sounded like a good place to be. I don't recall hearing how many get in that category though, sorry.

I interviewed in September and still haven't received a decision 🙁

which email did you guys use for an "in the area" email. and who did you address it to ? Subject Line? should it be the dean or admissions office??

Need some advice please 🙂

So my friends keep on telling me to add Jefferson but I'm afraid that it's too late in the cycle. What do you guys think? How low is acceptance for MCAT at Jefferson and are there a lot of essays besides the question 9 everyone is referring to? any help is much appreciated. good luck everyone.

Congratulations Mikami 🙂

I hope things pan out for you in the coming future clown and bcole, I don't think the high priorty list is a bad place to be at all!!!!

High priority list. I thought my interviews went really well, too.

I'm just speculating, but perhaps since they have such large interview groups, they start going through the files, and accept people, and then run out of spots for that "session" before they have even ruled on all the files. Then those applicants that weren't looked at, are put in this "high priority" group. Seems like this could be the case given what seemed to be a huge interview group. IDK if other dates had the same amount as mine.

This isn't the case. The HP list basically means you impressed at your interview, just not enough to get a straight-up acceptance yet. They do draw off the wait list at Jefferson, though (both lists). Some years, like this past cycle, didn't see a ton of movement. But the year before needed the WL to fill almost 1/4 of the class. It varies quite a bit. No worries though, because the HP list isn't a bad place to be.

You've gotta remember that, even though the interview group is so large, Jefferson only interviews students once a week. So, for example, since they aren't able to interview 4 or so groups of 6-8 people per week, they must instead gather 30 together at the same time so that they are able to give interview opportunities to a reasonable number of applicants.

I interviewed last wednesday. is it possible that i might hear today? i think they said we would hear something but i can't recall. thanks 🙂

Yes, many people hear exactly one week after their interview. Depends on whether your faculty interviewer shows up at the Admissions Committee meeting. If you are accepted you will get a call from Dr. Callahan.

If your faculty interviewer doesn't show, a decision on your application will not be made until s/he does. If you are waitlisted, you will be notified via email, either today or within the next few days.

Good luck!

ugh been "decision pending" for well over 2 months now 🙁 slowly losing faith in getting an interview..

hello! has anyone who interviewed in late september not received any news yet??

I don't think it has to do anything with dates. I interviewed on 10/05 and was accepted on 10/16. Someone just posted something about how you will not get a decision until your interviewer shows up the adcom meeting.

Maybe that happened to you

I have a missed call from a PA area code (11:18AM PST). I googled the number and it is Dean Cahallan's, I don't want to get my hopes up prematurely but I imagine it to be the message that changes my life forever.

🙂

Sorry - I called you. I wanted to ask you out, and I finally got the courage and you didn't pick up. That's why I didn't leave a voicemail.

LOL did she leave a message? I can't imagine any other reason she'd call! 🙂

AHH I am sending you premature congratulations! 🙂 Soo excited for you but now I am so nervous because I didn't get a call...hoping it just means that my interviewer was not at the meeting this week or something!

Thank you so much 🙂, but I won't celebrate until its official. I think you are right, your faculty member may not have had a chance to attend the meeting yet. I read through the past years thread and it seems that the committee meets every Wednesday and decisions are usually given out at around 3pm EST the same day (whether that be e-mails or calls).

In addition, my faculty interview also told me that she would make an effort to meet at today's committee meeting because she was planning to travel for the next few weeks.

I interviewed on 10/12 and 10/19 is exactly one week turn around!

So even though my phone said there was no new voice mails, I checked it anyway just now and I found out that I had 8 voice mails from the past few days.

Here is my reaction to one of them.

👍 haha I'm so excited for you! and we definitely interviewed on the same day, based on your previous post on this thread. I think this is the first time this application cycle that I have NOT wanted to see an email from a school in my inbox...

I just sent in my secondary application. Am I too late?

I figured the long blurb may have given me away but then again our interview group only had two people from California.

But it was nice meeting you, whoever you are!

And good luck! I was honest when I said that everyone I met on the interview day was really cool, so hope you get in.

I sent an in area email and got no response. Is Jefferson receptive to updates?

I sent an "in the area" email last week and got an interview invite just now! Complete around 9/20. They are most definitely receptive to them.

Who did you address the 'in the area email' to? what was the subject line? Did you start with Dear admissions committee? thanks for the help.

Akh. I sent them one on 10/5 and only got the automated reply. No "human response yet 🙁

They are "receptive" to an "in the area" email in the sense that they will not ignore it. However, such an email is not going to give you any advantage. If you are not competitive for Jeff, an "in the area" email isn't going to change that. If you do get an invite in response, in all likelihood you would have received one eventually anyway. It just advances the scheduling of the interview. Not that that's unimportant. 😉

Hmm... I sent them the "in the area" email over the weekend, asking if I can schedule around another Philly interview I have mid-Nov. I hope I hear back with good news!! I've been on "interview decision pending" for some time. The only thing now is to decide how long to wait before settling my travel plans (since flights do get more expensive the closer it gets to the date)!!

I think "in the area" emails are helpful because they demonstrate your interest to Jeff!

My subject line was "In The Area Notice" and I started with "Dear Jefferson Medical College." I emailed it to the admissions office email. I also included a little paragraph about why I'm interested in Jefferson after I told them about my travel plans. Good luck!

I took the gamble and booked a week in the East Coast even though I only have one interview lined up. Then I emailed all the schools in the area telling them I'll be there - I figure that most of them won't respond anyway. I am so glad I got an interview from Jeff - the week off is totally worth it now.

Here to show some love for Jeff and Philly. Decision pending since televisions had turn-knob channel-changers 😉.
