On the post bac wait as well! I am post bac option at 3 schools, I find that to be a blessing because that means that they admissions committees see some sort of potential. I pray that at least 1 gives me an opportunity to tap into that potential and prove that I can handle the rigors of medical school and become a world class physician!

Quick question: I keep hearing conflicting reports about the waitlist. Some people say that it was ranked and others have told me that it was not. Can anyone clear that up for me?

I received an e-mail that said I was in the top 10% of the waitlist right when I was waitlisted. That's all it said. It didn't say anything else about it. It did not give a ranking. It did not play kazoo.

Well, it seems that there is some early WL movement going on so hopefully that bodes well for others on the regular WL. The deadline for being able to get your deposit back is coming up soon so I imagine more movement will take place after that.

I know, I was placed on the wait-list last December, I have sent 2 update letters a couple of months ago. Should I send another interest letter or is that overkill at this point. Really want to go to meharry!
I'm thinking that this is just the quiet before the storm. Hopefully, within a few days, this thread will be filled with stories about people coming off the waitlist and into the class.

So the cashier's check. Let's talk about this. Did anybody just happen to accidentally send a personal check instead? Did they accept said personal check? Because I am strongly considering accidentally sending a personal check and seeing if they just take that. But only if someone else has done it first.
I would just send a money order. You can get one from the post office or grocery store. It is not that difficult. Also, I would recommend sending your money order by priority mail with delivery confirmation. They lost my deposit at first, but they were able to recover it thanks to delivery confirmation. Yeah, that was my plan. I just think it's silly that they won't accept a personal check.
Maybe they have had problems in the past with people sending bad checks or something. I think that sending money orders to schools is pretty common.

I had a friend who was wait-listed and he said that he sent an intent letter almost every week before his status was changed. When I went on interview in March they strongly encouraged sending multiple intent letters if you were on waitlist to show interest in school and increase your chances of changing your status.

Hey guys,
Has anyone who has been placed on hold or being considered for the postbac program heard anything yet? I sent an email to admissions today and I addressed it to Mr. Mosley. I received an email a little while after indicating that Mr. Mosley is no longer with the school. I immediately responded and ask if we would hear about the post bac program any time soon and I was quite disappointed about the response. The person who responded basically indicated that if you did not hear anything yet it means that you have not been offered a seat into the program. With the amount of applicants that they have they cannot respond to anyone who does not have a change in status. 🙁...I'm praying that God performs a miracle.

Nope, I was supposed to call Miss Davis to make sure my letter was received but I suppose they must have been very busy because my messages have not been returned.

I know there are a lot of really qualified people in this thread who would appreciate the spot a lot more than I am. The school is fantastic; I just wasn't thrilled about living south of the Mason-Dixon line.

I haven't really posted on this thread! Kinda just lurking 🙄. I'm on the regular waitlist and have sent in a few letters/continued letters/emails of interest and one real update..and I have only got a response to the first letter I sent but that was while Mr. Mosley was still there. Just a short "we'll add it to your file" response. Since then, I have called Mrs. Davis a few times and I did ask her if i should expect to get some type of response when I send in my letters/emails of interest. I wanted to make sure that they didn't get overlooked amid the numerous emails that I am sure the admissions office receives. Mrs. Davis told me that with the large number of letters/emails they get that it is difficult to respond to everyone and she told me just to send her a reminder email that I sent one in😕. This was slightly discouraging to me b/c It made me wonder if they truly check all of their emails ..if i have to send you another reminder email to go back and search for it.. Just saying.. I'm still hoping and praying for the best but I can't say that it hasn't been difficult!!

So what would any of you say about some of the pros and cons of Meharry? Just wondering since I am still deciding between going to a private predominantly white school with more so-called "prestige" or head to Meharry in (ugh) late June.

Lainey08, I've only ever spoken to Ms. Davis once when I called in the afternoon between 3-4 Nashville time. If you speak to her and she gives you any pertinent wait list info please do share it with the rest of us!

Hey Ladies and Gentlemen, What happened to all of the encouraging posts?!!! Its not too late, I'm still holding strong to the fact that more individuals will be pulled off the wait-list. I pray for everyone's success and uplifting. I talked to Mr. Graves the other day and he said that the admissions team is going to be meeting today, Wednesday. So there has got to be more movement.

I will admit, I have been a bit discouraged lately because I received a rejection from another school post interview, but my God is still able!! (Psalm 37:4-5) We have to continue to stay prayed up and leaning on the Lord's understanding of our current situation, not our own. I recently heard a mighty word called "I Am A Giant Killer!", referencing the triumph of David over Goliath. We have to become giant killers SDN family! God introduces us to "giants" in order to introduce and prepare us to our next level of living! Until we see our problems as promises and defeat our biggest enemy, UNBELIEF, we won't be able to have victory! God will never leave us nor forsake us! He is only making sure that we are able to fight off the lions and bears before we can defeat our Goliaths! 1 Peter 5:10. I am keeping the faith. I hope you all are doing the same🙂

I know it might be getting closer to the start of school and knowing now does not leave a lot of time to plan your move and other things, but as long as you are accepted, that is all that matters. I was on the regular waitlist. As i understand it, they only utilize the priority list early in the process to give them time to prioritize the other wait-listed applicants (probably around 300 strong). Essentially though, this is good news for all others on the regular list.
Oh, and thanks for the encouragement Paaakwasi. I'll be sure to keep everone posted.

Yeah, most medical schools interview over 400 applicants, overbook their spots by like 15%, and then the other 300 get wait-listed. Don't let the numbers discourage you though. Out of those 300, probably not even half show continued interest, which anyone who's talked to the staff will tell you is important. Also, I'm sure they've made it through a good amount already. Not only that, but Meharry gets a huge amount of back-up applications, and with students applying to an average of 12 schools, there is bound to be some major late-game trickle-down.
