2011-2012 Psychology PhD/PsyD Interview Invite thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
So I cracked and emailed Pitt last night asking when they expect to start sending interview invitations. I received this email this morning.

"The faculty are still reviewing the application materials. The invitations won’t be sent out for another 2 weeks. In the review stage the faculty are not only looking at the applicants that have the best GRE scores or GPA, etc. They are looking for a “match” for them as well. There needs to be a faculty member who you can match up with in the area of research being done. Not all faculty members are accepting students at this time, but, they are part of the process. They meet and discuss applicants and suggest to each other who may be a good fit. So, please hang in there and be patient. I know it’s hard with your future on hold. Only another couple of weeks.
Thank you!

Loranna"

It's so nice I'm (almost) relaxed about waiting now.

Has anyone heard anything from UC Boulder? Thanks!

This time last year it looks like University of Rochester sent out notifications for interview invites. Be very aware of you're phone today if you applied here.

Now that I am incapable of getting any type of work done I am wondering if anyone with information could help!

I applied to so many schools and if anyone has heard anything about any of them please reply/post, thanks!

Hi,
We have UOregon and BU in common. I received an email from grad admin around 8 days ago stating that they are still reviewing applications and will extend invitations within 2 weeks. I think UOregon will send out invitations in less than a week. No news from BU at all. My hunch is, due to the GRE format and reporting schedule change, many schools received scores later than usual. Therefore, the review process is taking longer than expected. Hang in there and drink lots of MINT TEA, I find it very calming

When you say activity do you mean you were contacted for an interview? Has anyone else heard from USC Clinical Psy PhD?

I meant that I haven't seen any activity in this forum in regards to invites to any of my programs besides USC (at the time of the post). I believe the post was for clinical sciences track. Now I know that Northwestern has also sent out invites (which I did not receive). So both of them are out of the running for me. I haven't seen any posts (aka activity) regarding UCLA, UIllinois Chicago, Boston U, U of Florida yet.

:xf:

I don't know if this is the right place to post this but:

Rejection from University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) by email this morning.

There is a rejection thread.

Edit: I see that you found it. BTW, sorry to hear that.

Just got an email invitation to interview at UCCS Clinical Psych on 2/10 from the program assistant! So excited, it's the first invite and now no matter what I don't feel like a complete dork for all that hard work I did!

What is UCCS? If you guys continue to use abbreviations, I will cut you. 🙂

Was it a standard mass e-mail you received from UOregon, or one in response to an e-mail you had written?

Clinical Psychology PsyD
Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Notified via email on 1/6
Personal and group interview day on 2/6.

It was not a mass email. I wrote to the UOregon graduate school admin person and got a response from her.
I also got an email from POI just after Christmas, stating that they will continue to review applications throughout the holidays. UOregon's review process is taking considerably longer compared to the previous year. I believe this is the case for most schools. :xf:

FYI everyone I emailed the clinical psych department at OSU about when invitations would be extended and I got a response stating that all invitations will be extended by the end of this week.

Has anyone heard anything from University of Washington Child Clinical?

I'm so happy to have found this forum! Here's the schools that I applied to: UMN (Clinical), ASU (Psych/Law - Clinical), UNL (Psych/Law - Clinical), UPenn (Psych/Law - Clinical), and CUA (Psych/Law - Masters).

I noticed that someone on TGC had reported that ASU sent out invites for Clinical Psych - does anyone know if this includes psych/law applicants as well?

Is anyone on here applying for psych/law programs? I know the process is a bit different, so it'd be great to corroborate information.

Thanks all and good luck to everyone!

It looks like Michigan State University, Rutgers and Texas A&M clinical phd programs have started to send out invitations according to the grad cafe as well as the child clinical program at S. Illinois U. (Carbondale). Good luck, everyone!

Hi, whoever posted on TGC about Rutgers, can you PM me your POI and any other details regarding the call?? Thanks!!

I want to hear from the Kent State person, too! I'm freaking out over here. 🙁 I'm tempted to call the department and see what's up, but am holding back. So many reasons why I like that program! *keeps fingers crossed*

well this sucks 🙁 i applied to the policy track and was hoping that since the people on the forum hadn't mentioned hearing anything that i still might get a call

Okay so since I seemed to scare a lot of people with this, I decided to call NW again. This time, the lady said "there may be one or two more calls, I'm not sure when or which track specifically but most of the invites have gone out, and there MIGHT be a couple more invites" and she put emphasis on the MIGHT and the fact that she did not know which tracks would do so. Sorry for any melt-downs I may have caused with the previous post about all invites being sent out. Looks like there still may be hope!

Which one??

Hi there. Dr. Heilbrun is not taking any strictly PhD students this year as indicated on the website (http://www.drexel.edu/psychology/academics/graduate/clinical/faculty/accepting/). From what I gather Dr. DeMatteo's lab has not made any calls yet. But the interview dates are 2/10 and 2/20. Good luck.

I'm not sure about the non-forensic Drexel POIs, but I was told that all of Dr. DeMatteo's invites went out, and Dr. Goldstein's will be coming out shortly....

I hate to be the bearer of not so great news 🙁

Has anyone heard from or know anything about American U (Clin PHD), George Washington U (Clin PSYD) or Virginia Consortium (Clin PSYD)?

These were my Dec 1st deadlines and still haven't heard anything! :scared:

When you guys call to get information from the programs...what exactly do you ask? I feel like I want to call one or two because they're my top choices, but don't want to negatively impact my application.

I just received an e-mail interview invite for Duke.

Interview dates are February 3rd and February 6th.

10 of my 12 apps were Dec 1st deadlines, and only 3 of them have extended invites. I share your anxiety!

I always call from my work land line (I didn't put this phone number on my application so they can't trace it back to me  )and I just make it quick because I'm sure they are so busy and getting tons of calls, I just say "Hi, I'm wondering when you plan to send out interview invites for the clinical psychology track?" If it is ever a voicemail, I never leave one because i don't want to leave my name and number.

Just called MiamiU of Ohio and they said that all of the interview invites have NOT been extended and there will be more to come within the next week or so but probably not beyond that. Good luck everyone!

Hello everyone!

I just called University of Wisconsin-Madison and I was told that they haven't sent out any invites yet. They also told me that it's very POI based, and that we'll hear back from them, not the department. And apparently the faculty's still on vacation and classes don't start until the end of January, so they told me not to worry just yet.

Just received a phone call from my POI at Texas A&M to invite me for their in-person interview February 6-7. Said a follow-up email from the program director will be sent shortly with more details.

Congratulations Spafticus!!!

Hi again,
I was wondering if you received a mass email or your POI contacted you.
Thanks!

I would love to know this too! I saw on gradcafe that two people announced their Duke Interviews today, which makes me worried that it was a mass-email... I have a feeling no news = bad news for this particular school... although I may be overly pessimistic.

I don't know if this is the right place to post this but:

I got a rejection from UCCS today too... I was realluy disappointed because I was wait-listed after an interview there last year. I thought i would at least get another interview...

UCCS = University of Colorado - Colorado Springs

Anyone else applied to clinical psych programs in Canada, specifically McGill, York and Simon Fraser?

Similarly, Vanderbilt's should be made by the end of next week.

So, does this mean that if we haven't heard anything from Vanderbilt by tomorrow, we're out of the game? Or can they still let people know next week?

Did someone at the program tell you this? Because one of the people on this forum who received an invite earlier this week got a call from Dr. Goldstein's lab... confused, bemused, a bit sad...

I applied to McGill and York, but I haven't heard anything. I have no idea what's going on or when we're supposed to hear.

Sorry, I meant to post it as a reply to someone else, but I can't figure out the interwebs!

I applied to York and SFU. Canadian universities generally take a little bit longer to respond so don't worry about it too much for now. York sometimes doesn't even interview, and many schools make calls by POI rather than by department. All the schools tend to make contact for interviews around late January/early February. Last year SFU was quite a bit later.

There's also a thread just for Canadian schools.

Haha! Ditto (about your response, and thanks for calling!)

That's odd, because the only forensic invite I heard about on here was from Dr. Goldstein... did you call the department to find out this information?
