Also received an interview invite to Northwestern.

Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine

Recieved: 1/6 Interview Date: 2/10
Email and phone call from DCT

Congrats everyone, and good luck

Has anyone heard anything from U of Utah? I saw from last year's thread that invitation invites were sent around this time...

I'm waiting patiently too. I heard communication from them late december because they wanted transcripts for college classes I took in high school, even though I didn't transfer any of the creds to a degree.

Soon we will hear, hopefully. I think it is a sporadic POI specific invitation though, which is a little nerve wracking.

Zebra Did you hear back from UW Milwaukee yet?
I was officially rejected from UW-Milwaukee (counseling) via hard copy letter around Jan 3, so perhaps there is still hope for those of you who have not been invited yet?

We have four in common: VCU, American, UVM and C.W. Post (PsyD). I don't think anyone has heard from any of these yet. Guess we just have to hang in there.
I have U of MN (CSPP) and Loyola and I have not heard anything from either of them. Loyola sent a message saying that they were still reviewing and I heard from a friend at the U of M that they are still deciding...

Hi everyone!
First time poster 🙂
I got a call from the DCT at Feinberg Northwestern, but I missed the call! It went to my voicemail but by the time I got it it was pretty late...
Anyways, interview date is February 8. Does anyone know what the format for the interview is? Is it a one day interview? I want to book my flight soon (Flight sale!). Will there be any need to stay over night at all? I was thinking of arriving at 8 am.
Thanks!

I am an international student applying to the following universities for clinical psych - Washington in St. Louis, IUB, Iupui, Purdue, Univ of Delaware, Stony Brook, Emory, UNGC, Notre Dame, UI Urbana,

I am really worried because I am home till the 14th due to a death in the family and I may have missed important calls. I was hoping to get an email before a call. Really worried - anyone with any information on these schools please let me know....thanks

Hi everyone,

this thread has been so helpful to me (and stress inducing haha). i had a really amazing day yesterday, and received invites to my top 2 choices. I am beyond excited and so incredibly nervous.

I received a call from my POI at Penn State for the adult clinical program inviting me to interview Feb 3rd & 4th

Then i received an email from my POI at Stony Brook asking me to interview January 17th and 18th.

it seems like both schools are still extending invites (I was really shocked about Stony Brook as I thought for sure they were finished since the interview is so soon!!)

so we all need to stay hopeful & not freak out too much when we learn that some person somewhere in cyberspace had been invited a few days ago (which always makes me worry that all invites must have already been extended) 🙂

congrats to everyone who has heard and good luck everyone!

Can you PM me your POI for Stony Brook?

Hey everyone, I was emailed earlier today and invited to interview at John Jay for the Clinical Forensic Psychology PhD program. Their day for interviews is February 3. Don't know if this helps anybody, but thought I'd throw it out there. I know I appreciate it when applicants post information about the schools I'm applying to =)

Would you mind PMing me your POI? Thanks!

Does anyone know dates we might hear from University of Kansas or University of Missouri-Kansas City?
I'm also interested in learning of UMKC's interview notification, but it seems we are the only ones who've applied there! They historically get fewer apps than other programs so that could be why there's no info about interviews on this forum in the past few cycles.

I applied to UMKC's Counseling Psychology program - the due date was January 1st. Incidently, my application went to the CLINICAL PROGRAM and in trying to get my materials transferred to the proper school at the university, I heard word that interviews for the Clinical program were being sent shortly. Hope this helps.

Do you guys think that UW-Milwaukee clinical has extended all invites by now? The interview date seems to be rapidly approaching....

Hi There,

I just got my invite via phone call this last Monday and my POI said she'd appreciate a response ASAP as they were trying to finalize their invite numbers. In addition, I was asked to doodle in my flight schedule and other relevant information for my visit. We were told we'd get more information regarding our visit next week.

I hope this information is helpful.

The DCT at USC got back to me and said only this:
One set of interview invitations has gone out and, more generally, our admissions are on a rolling basis.

I guess this means there is still hope!

I called the office of grad. admission this week and was told that my application got passed onto the psychology dept. this week. (I submitted my application close to the deadline.) So I guess this means that another set of interview invitations may be coming out soon. Whoever gets the invitation (I hope I am one of them), I'd appreciate if you could keep us posted and I'll do the same.

Thanks!:luck:

Hello. By now you should have gotten an email with details from them. But it appears as though there is only one interview day and that the interviews are 8am to 6pm. Depending on where you live in the country, you might want to consider staying overnight the night before. I am definitely flying in the night before so I get plenty of rest and don't go in there all airplane-style. But then again, I have the good fortune of having family there that I can stay with. Since they don't appear to reimburse, it may be financially tough to stay overnight. Hope this helped!

Good to know! Thanks for the info, and if I get more information I'll post here too! (USC)

I've been in contact with my POI at the University of South Florida about interview invitations. He said they just started reviewing applications and invites will probably be extended in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for the info! I didn't get the email until this morning, though. I will probably have to end up staying two nights now-- why is the interview from 8 am to 6 pm?

It's typical for them to be all day. Usually there's a morning orientation followed by luncheons and individual interviews with faculty and grad students. Good luck 🙂

Heard back form the admission department at Stony Brook - first round of invites will be sent after the 17th of Jan

From Washinton at St. Louis - invites will be sent 3rd week of Jan, Interviews on 23rd and 24th of Feb

Hey everyone waiting to here from UCONN.... do not worry if you have not heard from UCONN, yet! POI's review the applications based upon who you indicated in the forms, PS, ect. The POI's extend invitations based on how quickly (or not) they go through all of their set of applications. Hope this helps those of you waiting to here from UCONN and getting worried that people have heard and you haven't.

Now I'm confused - I thought some people had heard from Stony Brook already?

Well that is what the dept. (clinical) chair told me! Cause I was freaking out about being at home and therefore missing important phone calls. She said they send invites for interviews only after the 17th...

maybe it is for people who didnt get an invite from a POI? or maybe for international students? I am so confused right now

Hi everyone!

This is also my first time posting here. I received my interview from NU Feinberg program Psychopathology and Treatment Track on Jan 5th, and my interview date is Feb. 8th. Is there anyone else who will be interviewing for this cluster? If yes, would you mind PMing me your POI?

Thanks, and good luck to everyone! It is great to know that I am not alone not only in the process, but also in my anxieties!

Also, here are all the schools that I applied to, has anyone heard from any of them, apart from NU?

Northwestern U
U of I Chicago
BU
Harvard
UMass Boston
Yale
Duke
UC Berkeley
University College London (I guess not many people applied outside the States)

OK - applied to NYU, Princeton, Queens Neuroscience - no response yet
Rutgers, Fordham, NYU, St. John's, LIU Brooklyn Clinical - no response yet.
St John's application deadline is Jan 15, so I doubt we'll hear anything until February.

Ah!!

Just heard from my POI at Minnesota (twin cities) (Counseling Psych) to have a brief chat TOMORROW NIGHT!

Short notice. Freaking out a little, but excited!

I am also interviewing at NU on Feb 8!
I also applied to Harvard but haven't heard anything. I was also considering applying to schools in the UK but I heard it's almost impossible to get in if you're not from the EU...is that true? If not, then I guess I missed out! I really wanted to go to King's College!

Ok Stony Brook is so confusing. Because I believe they usually they do their interviews around mid January (unless in the past it's been misreported on here). Last year's thread said interviews were 1/11 and 1/18.

If you look at past invite threads they start inviting before Christmas and the last (reported) invite from last year was 1/2. I mean unless people got invites after that and just didn't report it, but idk.

Something isn't adding up. I also don't know how they can start inviting a week after their application deadline. It doesn't seem like it gives everyone a fair chance (well at least after they've made their preliminary GRE/GPA cuts). I suppose they could start reviewing early ones ahead of time but I mean why have a deadline of Dec. 15 then? Seems like their deadline should really be Dec. 1 or something.

Exactly! I mean I submitted my application on the 15th and then went home thinking I had time. When people started posting about being invited I wrote to Stony Brook to find out if I was rejected and all they said was they will make first round of invitations after the 17th which is very very bizarre. So I decided to write to my POI and hopefully I hear from her soon😡

Yeah, I've applied there before in the past and every year it's the same. They are VERY VERY hard to get in to. I mean it's hard to get into any program but they are super competitive. It's also very frustrating when people hear 5 days after you've submitted, which makes me wonder about the whole application process.

Of course that's a whole OTHER bag of frustrations. This whole process needs to be standardized, just like Med school and Law school. I really think many people get their application fees taken from them and then get rejected because they made a "mistake" which was caused by inconsistent application instructions. I think it's some sort of sick initiation process. CAN YOU GET THROUGH THIS PROCESS? HA HA HA (evil laugh).

funny thing is I heard back from my POI she is out of the country till the 17th of Jan - is that why they told me to wait for an invite till the 17th? I only wish they would tell you things straight

Well that's good news! Maybe that is why.

haha! but then again I was not expecting much from Stony Brook really! given how hard it is to get in

Did you apply for PhD or the MA/EdS program? I applied for the EdS program and got the same email you did... PhD interviews are supposed to be this week so I would be shocked if they haven't told anyone about those yet! When I went to the open house in November they said they review PhD and EdS apps at the same time, so you think they would notify at the same time... which is why even though I'm not applying for a PhD I'm constantly on this thread haha.

For those of you posting on gradcafe on the results threat for Northwestern, especially whomever just posted this...
"Northwestern Univerisity Psychology, PhD (F12) Interview via E-mail on 7 Jan 2012 ♦ A 9 Jan 2012"

Feinberg medical or Weinberg college of arts?

Please distinguish for those of us who also applied there (yes, i know they are different, but just in case). Thanks! (and congrats).

Are you talking about Loyola or U of MN (CSPP)?

Did anyone apply to U. of Rhode Island's clinical program? If so... have you received any information at all after having submitted your application/materials online.. such as a "your application is complete" notification online or via email?

FYI, after emailing them a week ago or so inquiring about the status of my complete/incomplete application I received the following email.. not sure if that's standard or what though.

"Your application is complete and is currently in review by our faculty. We will contact you in a few weeks if you are invited for an interview."

All right, so, Florida State.

I called today and the assistant said she thinks most interview invites have gone out by now, but not all.

However, we only have one pre-interview posted here on SDN, and nothing on TGC. Has anyone else heard at all from FSU?

2 invites listed @ gradcafe for drexel: http://thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?t=w&pp=250&o=p

not sure how many here, but i received interview invite before the weekend (and didn't previously report it).

I also think that the interview invites are going to be more spread out for Drexel. It seems like they are calling people based on the POI's lab. So if your lab hasn't made their calls yet I wouldn't worry. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!:xf:
