Interviewing Wed Feb 29th...I think there was a March 7th date as well but I didn't look very carefully for later dates. Just got confirmed for the 29th so there is definitely still room for I.I.s. Feel like I may be competing for one of like 10 or 15 seats left lol.

Someone earlier said there were 55 seats left, which is much better odds! As of 2/17
On our interview day (this week), they told us that 167/222 acceptance spots were currently filled. Plenty of room left for you : )
Good luck!

((clearly procrastinating studying 🙂 ))

Well I'm glad to hear there's more seats than I thought! Thanks for the well wishes. What'd you think of your interview day at RMC? Pretty chill, too long too short, good tour(s)?
Both mine were 30 minutes.
The first one was pretty chill- Turned out he was married to a SS Irish Catholic girl so basically we talked about how I was from a SS Catholic high school and like the SS in general. It was more conversational than interview.
The second one... well... I wasn't asked typical questions. I think he was trying to see if I became flustered or upset or stressed. For example, "If you were directing a movie, what would it be about and what's the message?" and a few weird questions, as well as normal "Tell me about yourself" ?s.
I felt great about my first and so-so about the second so I was thrilled to get in.
The tour was great! The new hospital is beyond gorgeous. Everyone was ridiculously friendly, and that's honestly what made me really like the school. It's definitely got a community feeling, where people want to help you excel. Jill Volk is amazinggggg as is the lady in charge of volunteering (sadly her name escapes me!).
This was my favorite interview by far.

Sounds like an amazing experience! thanks for sharing 👍
I tried sending the school an email, just generally asking for updates. However, I keep getting error messages when I send it. Is this happening to anyone else? I used the email provided on the site.
I guess a part of me just doesn't want to believe that they're pretty much done

Interviewed today and had a wonderful time. The school is gorgeous!
are you interviewing even though you're attending another medical school 😕
Anyone know approximately how many people get taken off the wait list each year? I'm wait listed and this is my top choice! I'm attending second look--so hopefully that will tip the scale in my favor!!
ILoveRush!😍

Jill told us around 10% of this year's M1's came off the waitlist.
Accepted! They got back very fast, interviewed 2/15 (but remember that they told us it depends on when your interviewer gets back to the committee, so don't lose hope y'all if you hadn't heard back yet!)

Thanks! Ten percent isn't a lot, but

Anyone know if it's ranked?

Yeah, we asked a lot about it at my interview day. She said that it's not officially ranked, that when they need to pull someone off they look through the whole list.

Haha, thanks! I'm still hurting a bit from not hearing back from Rush. It was my top choice going in, but c'est la vie. Congrats everyone!

I interviewed the same day. So anxious to hear

ACCEPTED ENTERING CLASS OF 2012!!!! OMG, words cannot describe how I happy I am!!! Good luck to those still waiting and I will see the other acceptees in August. Now excuse me, while I do my happy dance 🙂
Congrats! When did you interview?
At this point I am trying to decide between Loyola and Rush. I have had amazing experince at both schools during the interview days. In my opinion Loyola's pre clinical curriculum would suit me better and Rush's curriculum is fairly new to the school and it still may be in the experimental stage. However, I think Rush Medical Center would be a better place to be during the M3 and M4 years. Also, Rush seems to have better residency match (i think?) and more in-house residency opportunities. Please, feel free to comment on the above statements and correct me or provide additional comments (these are my opinions and I know they may be not true considering my limited knowledg about thsese schools). For those that had to pick between Rush and Loyola let me know which one you chose and why? also anybody that will be matriculating (or is attending) one of these schools please let me know what were the reasons behind your decisions. Thank you.
P.S. The second look for both schools is on the dame date (April 13) so that does not make it easier

Hey, there--
I withdrew my invitation from Loyola when I got accepted into Rush. I agree that they are both great schools with many similarities. For me, there was one big factor that you didn't mention in your analysis above: Location. I live in Chicago, and I wanna stay here. With all else equal, I would rather not have to commute an extra 30-60 minutes (round-trip) every time I go to school. My only other option would be to move out to Maywood. I love that Rush (and UIC, to be fair) are located in the city proper, and, from what I understand, they generally serve the urban population here. The resources, the bustle and the overall heartbeat of the city are readily noticeable at Rush, and you can literally feel them and see them (have you checked out the views from the Rush buildings?!).
Rush students who I've spoken to have had only great things to say about the current block curriculum. Finally, if you're interested in academic rankings at all, somebody recently pointed out that Rush enjoyed the second-largest jump (8 spots) of any school in the newly-released U.S. News list. I personally don't lend too much credence to those lists, but I suppose it could be viewed as a reflection of the upward trend felt at Rush, most likely surrounding the spectacular new hospital. I wouldn't be surprised to see Rush climb further upward in the years to come.
My opinions are also naive, as I'm only an M0 (i.e., I'll be starting there in the Fall).
Re: Second Look days, that's interesting that Loyola's and Rush's are competing with each other. Thankfully and awesomely, we've been working on making ours into a whole crazy weekend, so if you miss Rush's school-sponsored events, we'll still be getting together for plenty of other tomfoolery all weekend.
You should come join our facebook group to meet other potential classmates and hear about our Second-Look day plans!

I agree that the location is very different for both schools - one of the reasons that I am leaning towards Rush. Also, Rush Medical Center has much better rankings that Loyola University Medical Center (U.S. News list). I am almost 100% sure that I will be attending the second look at Rush. I really appreciate your insights and see you April 13th.

Sweet -- see you there/then!

Hey y'all I just got accepted today! It was through email with an attachment of the hard copy letter en route to my house. Super happy as Rush is one of my top choices! I interviewed on Feb. 29th and got the acceptance March 23rd. If anyone's wondering about location (with respect to timing, etc) I am from Illinois. VERY excited to hear about the cool facebook group for RMC 2016 and the fact that prospective students will be getting together to go out on the town over the second look weekend! Hope to see y'all there.
has anyone gotten any financial aid info yet?
I'm sure you've already filled out FAFSA but there's a few other steps for Rush. There are 2 forms on line. One is the app for institutional student aid. All Rush students must fill that out (easy form, some basic info and a few things to plug in from your 2011 tax returns). The 2nd is a parental form that is optional but needs to be filled out and sent in along with parent's 2011 tax returns, should you be an incoming student seeking school loans, grants, scholarships. If you are older and fully and 100% financially independent of your parents then I'll bet you can petition to waive this form and still be eligible for those services. I'd call/email them about that though. Pretty sure the deadline is May 1st for all of this. Hope this helps!
