yea its a lot of stipend money..
but how much time do you guys think students will have to devote to 8hrs research per week AND 8hrs TA'ship per week during the first year (specifically first two quarters)? Can a current student please comment on this? Like generally, how much free time is there?

i have been complete since september 16th and have yet to hear anything back. anyone in the same boat? 😕 should i call their office to check what's happening? thank you.

Beat you -- complete since August. Really stinks that they don't accept updates. KILLIN' ME! 😛

Same, complete since August.

Depends on who you are. I don't have much to update them about, so I'm glad they don't accept them lol.

+2. Complete since september and I'm also glad they don't accept updates because I (also) have nothing to say.

as every day passes, the more i think my rejection letter is lost somewhere in the mail. been complete since mid july.

^ same as the rest of you above; complete in September, would like to update. I would LOVE a chance to interview here, would be my #1 for sure, but I know in the back of my mind that the rejection letter is just a matter of time away.

+1 but late July

+2 but August for me. I keep expecting to see it in my mail box any day now. I'm in Arizona too so it shouldn't take that long to get here, even by snail mail.

Seriously. Where is that letter that probably belongs to me?

I'd also like to know...I interviewed on 10/12, and based on previous weeks, was expecting to either hear back or see other people post about hearing back today.

FINALLY got the rejection letter. Postmarked 12/9, but the letter inside was dated October 5th.

What's the deal, Stanford? Why wait 2 months (to make my total wait 5 months)?

wow thats weird, I hope this kind of thing isn't common at Stanford.

Has anyone gotten an interview after not hearing something for a significant amount of time (more than 6 weeks?)

Does anyone know when Stanford MS2s typically take their USMLE step 1s? i.e. march, april, may, june, etc...?

Thanks.

You have 8-9 weeks of structured time in the curriculum to study. This includes spring break and roughly runs from the end of March --> end of May/June. This is followed by a 4 week crash course in medical skills to prepare you one last time before entering clinics. Some students will take the first 4 weeks or 8 weeks of clinic off for extra study time if they are struggling. So... as much as 16 weeks for stragglers. Though, that is a temptation that should be avoided at all costs.

From what I can see, the curriculum is actually very conducive to preparing you for boards. Especially if students consult outside sources and review books while taking 1st/2nd year classes. The organ system block works well, and there are periodic cumulative exams that force you to re-review old organ systems and integrate them into more clinical scenarios that mimick the Step 1 format.

I haven't gotten anything...still waiting since July

You never know... maybe they're saving some invitations for later in the cycle.

I wish everyone the best of luck! Maybe we'll be classmates next year!

I got a letter that I was waitlisted. Does anyone know the activity off the waitlist?
I'm bummed- but at least I'm not completely out of the running.

CAN'T BELIEVE IT! PERCY IS VICTORIOUS!!! 😱

congrats to those of you accepted! would you all mind sharing when u interviewed? Thanks!

Same here. I told everyone I'd believe it when I finally received the letter... so I guess it's real now! Does anyone have any information on revisit/second look weekend?

Yeah, as soon as he said, "This is Dean Garcia..." my mind went totally blank and I spent every bit of my cognitive ability trying not to poop my pants. The rest is a blur.

Haha, I had the same exact feeling. What's worse is that I left for Thanksgiving the day before my packet arrived, so I spent the weekend trying to convince myself the phone call was real.

As far as second look weekend, I believe (operative word), that it's the 2nd week of April, but I could be wrong. I only live about an hour from campus, so I'm going to try and take advantage of being home for the holidays and visit one of these weekends. Let me know if anyone is in the area and wants to visit with me!

admit weekend is from 4/13/12 - 4/15/12 this year.

Interview invite today!! So excited!! Complete early august, there is still hope for those who haven't heard anything yet.

Did you receive the interview invite via email or snail mail?

Merry Christmas everyone! Has anyone who got the acceptance call on Friday the 16th received their letter yet? I'm wondering if the letters were even mailed out yet due to winter break.

Interview invite a couple hours ago! Absolutely dumbfounded...😱

Interview invite shortly before Christmas! Definitely breaking my six-interview rule for this school.

When were you complete here? Anyone who recently got an II feel free to chime in. I was complete around 10/15 and am trying to get an estimate as to when I may hear back.
