Thanks for posting that. I guess it is their standard HP waitlist letter.
I'm not sure if the situation is much different from last year, this is the HPWL email they sent in 2011 (from last years thread)
"I am writing to inform you of the status of your candidacy for Stony Brook University School of Medicine. You are one of a select group of individuals (High Priority List) whose candidacy generated a great deal of enthusiasm with the Committee on Admissions. However, at this point in time, we have accepted significantly more applicants than available seats. We anticipate that by May 15, 2011, some of the multiply accepted candidates may withdraw their acceptance to Stony Brook. As those seats become available, we will likely be making offers to those on the High Priority List. Please let us know by May 1st whether you are still interested in attending Stony Brook and want to be considered for the High Priority List.
Jack Fuhrer, MD
Associate Dean for Admissions
Stony Brook University School of Medicine"
Same here. Interviewed in March, still waiting to hear heads or tails. Is anyone else in this boat? I interviewed back in the beginning of February and I still haven't gotten a decision from Stony Brook. I called today and they said my application is still with the committee, and I should hear by the end of May. This seems unusually late, and I can't think of what the hold up might be.
I have been getting anxious to hear so I called admissions today, they said there hasn't been any movement on the waitlist yet and that there won't be any movement until after this week. They said we would be notified when the waitlist begins to move, and it sounded like movement is likely to begin in the first week of June. I didn't want to press them for details but I think we can be optimistic that some movement will occur.
I hope this helps.
Thanks for the update LD. This is a big help.
Can a current student speak about the first year schedule at Stony? I'd like to know the order of the blocks and maybe a rough idea of a weekly schedule in the first block. Thanks!
Also to a current student, preferably one who works out: Do most students who workout go to the SAC? Also I heard they recently remodeled the SAC and that the gym is a lot better now, is this true? Is it conducive to serious weightlifting?
A lot of us have our own private gym memberships. The SAC can get crowded with undergraduates. The SAC has a disappointing gym in my opinion, but maybe I was spoiled by my undergraduate college. They're supposed to be opening a new recreation facility, but we'll see how much progress they make on that.
Don't know if it's going to change for your year, but this was our schedule and don't expect it to change:

ok, so has ANYONE on the HPWL been accepted yet?
Doesn't sound like it. Apparently the entire WL process will only begin next week (rough estimate).
So just making sure I understand this correctly - there is a regular wait list, and a high priority wait list? I was wait listed and I just want to make sure that there is also a high priority wait list (so I know how hopeful to be...)
It seems like being put on a regular wait list if there is, in fact, also a high priority wait list means that I should pretty much give up hope. Does that sound about right? (You can be brutally honest - I've already been admitted to a school I like, although I don't like it as much as Stony Brook).
Current students, do you know if we have to get CPR certified on our own? I know Buffalo and Downstate requires it.
It looks like in past years, the wait list had already been moving around this time, starting around the 2nd or 3rd week in May. It's much more quiet this year. It's very possible that not as many spaces have opened up. I'm not saying give up hope, but we need more info about wait list movement. Has anyone heard a thing about any movement this week? This was the anticipated week 😕
I am probably over analyzing this, but I have been reading through the last three years threads and the majority of people accepted from the waitlist between May 15 and June 15 were hearing (phone and/or email) on Wednesdays, with a few on Thursdays. I don't know if this means a committee meets on these days but I am hoping that a bunch of people get offers tomorrow or next Wednesday.
You were right. I got off the HPWL yesterday, but I decided to keep my current acceptance. Hope one of you guys gets the spot. Best of luck!
If you don't mind sharing, how were you informed of the WL decision?
I got accepted off the HPWL last Wednesday and decided to accept and go to Stony! I got a call in the early afternoon from Ms. Agnetti and then an email later in the day. There are about 120 member on the Stony Brook SOM Class of 2016 facebook group and there seemed to be a lot of students at pre-orientation. Hopefully there are still some spots left and some people still getting accepted into other schools and will withdraw. Best of luck to everyone. I know the waitlist sucks but try to stay positive!

LieutenantDan, Congrats!
Just wondering...about what time did you hear from Stony Brook about your acceptance off of the HPWL? And was it via email?
