That's true, I just wanted to be in the "interview immediately" pile. The view is so much nicer from up there...
 
I know a lot of people from A&M that haven't been invited. Maybe that's because most (if not all) of the pre-meds I know are from A&M.

Still, it's been well over a month-and-a-half now. In-state. At what point can you assume you've been tossed into the "probably not going to interview" stack? End of Sept? Middle Oct?

I think December might be a good time start considering other options. Basically you still have a decent chance until interviews are over.

You're probably right. But have you ever heard of someone with a Nov or Dec interview who was complete before August?

How big is your sample size? I don't know that many people applying to med school...

If you look back at the school specific threads from last year, you'll find that anyone who was complete around may/June/July and didn't get an invite within a month or two, never got one. Not just the case for A&M, but all Texas schools. Still not a large enough sample size, but just an observation.

How many posters did this happen to last year? SDN is an abnormal population in which many people receive IIs. I can't imagine there were many people that submitted early and didn't receive an II and continued to post about it.

I personally know at least one person who completed early and didn't interview until December at UTH. The admissions people tell you that they review your file and select you for interview but then re-review your file against later applicants to re-consider if they decided not to interview you at first. I mean I guess they could have a "no interview and never interview" pile, but all that is speculation.

My early-transmission friend who interviewed in December didn't get in though... hah.

Stories like this comfort me, but I'm afraid it may be false comfort.

I know some schools specifically say they don't accept update letters until after you've been invited to interview. Is this generally true for all schools? Or if I still haven't heard anything by the end of September would it be a good idea to send a brief letter just saying that I took XYZ classes over the Summer, got A's, continued XYZ EC's, list what I'm doing this semester, state that I am very interested in this school because blah blah blah...?

Not really that I have any major updates to offer, but just in a last ditch effort to get them to shake the dust of my application and at least glance at it again.

Or would that be a total waste of time?

EL paso doesnt accept any upates

UTH will accept updates after interview


TTUSCOM and UTSA and UTSW accept updates any time

So I took summer classes and sent my updated transcript to TMDSAS... Do schools get an update notice with the new classes and recalculated GPA?

I was thinking about sending an update letter to El paso. Does they specifically state that somewhere on their website?

I had to email the schools that I interviewed at to let them know about my GPA change. Some of them were already done reviewing me, so it didn't matter, but others (A&M included) made sure my new GPA was considered. As far as schools that I haven't interviewed at yet, I hope they see that my GPA has improved, but I'm not sure if they automatically update that information.
 
No news, but holding out until mid-October. I will be really disappointed if I don't hear from A&M, though; I have a SO in the area and this might be our best option. :xf:

Pacman, I'm thinking you and I should have avoided making those serial killer jokes in our essays. It would probably have helped our cause!

yeah! I was pending since june wince they were waiting for my july mcat. But it took another month after that. But all my friends have been under review for 2 months. Hope it isn't like that for me...
 
Question: does A&M wait for your summer transcripts to be sent in before sending interview invites? I received some invites while my summer class was ongoing, so I never thought to send my transcripts in to TMDSAS; but now I am (somewhat wishfully) wondering if that might be holding me up here.

Hey guys I'm from Baylor in Waco, I submitted in early July. I have yet to hear back and i'm getting a little worried 🙁

I have a 3.9 GPA and got a 30 MCAT. I was really expecting to get some interviews by now, I know it's still early and there are more interviews later this year but I wanted to know if anyone with similar stats from a Texas School (Baylor UT A&M Tech) has yet to receive any interview??

Everyone else, I just got back from my interview and really loved this place. Everyone was extremely nice and the interviews were very conversational and laid back. The staff and faculty are very nice and the hospital in Temple is amazing. It is an awesome facility. The students seem to be very friendly and not cut-throat competitors.

Definitely made me place A&M much higher in my rankings!

Just to clarify a big question I had, whether you interview in Temple or CS has no effect on which program you will get into..its completely random
 
I just went under review also. This will be a long wait =/

Yeah seriously I thought my interview season was over... you know my app was gathering dust somewhere feeling, but I guess it's not over till the fat lady sings 😛

When was your file complete (with secondary)?? I emailed them to ask today (I only submitted my secondary a little while ago) and they told me that my file would GO for review in 4-8 weeks. Yikes.

I transmitted 5/27, finished the secondary on 6/1, and still haven't heard anything from A&M. So darn frustrating.
 
hey, just wondering if anyone is going from austin to college station/bryan on october 20 (the interview day is on this date, but i'd be up for leaving the day before, too)...I don't have a car, and would love it if i could carpool with someone if possible. otherwise, the greyhound takes a ridiculous 5 hours to get there and 7 hours to come back..
