Hey guys, I was wondering if NJMS notifies you when your secondary is complete...and if they do approximately how long did you have to wait from the time you submitted to receive it? Thanks!

I never received a confirmation e-mail from them. They just called to set up an interview appointment

I've been complete since June 17 and nothing. Guess that's a silent rejection.

I submitted my secondary on August 18th and still have not heard anything. I wish I would have applied EDP. This anxiety can get overwhelming! anyone have any idea when people who were complete in mid august should expect an invite? I have good stats come on NJMS show me some love!

And no NJMS doesnt send a complete email after secondary submission.

Interviewing there tomorrow. Had requested a student interview when they offered but none are being given out that day in case anyone was wondering why they hadn't been contacted about it.

Good luck all.

Interview Invite today, in-state. Submitted my secondary 10 days ago. Got the invite by email. You get to pick your interview date

Had my interview today. I really liked it and the environment was great. Everyone just seemed happy and friendly and I got good vibes. After my interview they called me TWICE to ask me to come back to admissions to see another faculty member who wanted to meet me. I'm hoping that was a good sign!

Congrats! Did you ever get a completion email? I'm kinda antsy because I've heard bad stories about secondaries getting lost. Also, do you think it matters which interview date you choose? Same deal with RWJ, they have you choose from four dates.

Anyone know how long it typically takes back to hear after having an interview?

You can't hear back until October 15th. That is a Saturday this year, so you won't until Monday.

Actually, my friend received a call on a Saturday 2 years ago. Not sure if it was the 15th/16th/17th but it was within days of 10/15.

Is that the earliest you can hear by AAMC designation or the schools?

No application complete email. The last email before interview invite was "your payment has been approved". I'd say interview as early as possible. When you get the interview email they may list additional dates when they have interviews available at noon (you have to call in to reserve those dates though). Though those were earlier, I chose a later date because med students give out tours at noon and I'd rather have a tour and an interview while I'm there. My friend just interviewed for their dental school and said it was pretty stress-free.

I'm talking specifically about NJMS. Every school is different in terms of when you can hear back, for NJMS it is 10/15 (usually or within a few days) for those with early interviews. My friend interviewed early September and received the call around the 15th, on a Saturday.

Hey guys for the essay question on the secondary "If you are not attending college/university full-time as of fall 2011, please describe your planned activities from June 2011 through August 2012.", does graduate school count? I'm currently a Masters student at GSBS but I'm not sure if that counts as college/university. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

anyone know if it's possible to get into RWJ or NJMS w/ a 26 mcat (10, 8, 8)? I'm an in-state student. I know it's unlikely I just want to know if they would even consider me with those scores. Do they consider your best scores? Thanks

Yaaay, just got my invite! Phew, that's a relief.

Wait, I'm confused though, is this not like a whole day affair? It looks like just the interview and the tour? And about how long will each be? Just want to make sure I can do both in one day while I'm there. I think I'm just kinda thrown off by Buffalo because they were like, expect to be here from 8:30am to 4:30pm!

IS and submitted on 8/18! nothing yet. Is this normal?

CONGRATS!!! what were your stats if you dont mind please?

Interesting article:

http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2011/09/umdnj-rutgers_partial_merger_r.html

I wonder what this means for the school's future.

Doesn't mean much, since the recommendations endorse the Newark campus' continued independence from other higher education institutions of Newark (NJIT, RU-N).

For Robert Wood, it's a different story. Not only are they losing a significant amount of their rotation spots to the new medical school in Camden (forcing them to shrink class size), they can now look forward to a few years of beaurocractic nightmare as they're merged into the Rutgers administration

Thanks! I saw your post in the RWJ thread, and your stats are pretty similar to mine (instate, >33, >3.5), and I even have a lower GPA, so I think you're fine. They must not be going in order, because I was complete after you too lol. Hang in there!!

Yeah I know!! LOL thanks! I am holding on tight 🙂

Pretty sure that that is because of the AAMC traffice rules. 10/15 is the earliest date any school can tell you anything. That's what I remember my preprofessional office telling me anyway.

I submitted 6/21, still nothing..but its still early.

Interview is 1hr, I'm not sure how long the tour would be, but I'd imagine less than 2 hours. It's definitely not an all-day thing

The tour was about an hour. If you have a student interviewer, then that might be another hour. Faculty interview + tour + student interview = ~3 hours.

Yes, it is a pretty short day up here.

Secondary Complete on 6/30
Interview Invite on 9/22

Interviewing on 10/13

Stats 12,7,R,12 with 3.6/3.8 gpa

Good luck everyone!

INVITE 😀 😀
Secondary Complete: August 16 or 17
Stats (See medapp)
Interview Date: October 5th

SO EXCITED!!

The cutoffs for RWJ are a 3.0 GPA and no individual score below 7. I would imagine NJMS is similar.

There are not really hard cutoffs at NJMS, unlike at RWJMS where there do exist flat cutoffs below which someone is automatically not looked at by rule. I'm just another applicant, but I imagine you would be looked at but it would obviously be a difficult situation for you to be accepted. The average MCAT at NJMS is a 32 now I believe. I would schedule a meeting with Dr. Heinrich to talk about your application and see what he recommends you do.

I submiteed my sec on 8/18 and still havent heard anything. Should i be worried? This whole process is so unfair!! People with 3.5 gpas and 30 mcats are getting interviews and I still havent heard anything 🙁

Welcome to the admissions process, friend. Don't concern yourself with other folks it will just make you crazy...like many of the people on here. :meanie:

They send out interview invites all the way through November. No worries yet. Call to see how your application is coming. :luck:

lol thanks bud! yeah i know looking at others is not the way to go but its only human nature to be concerned sometimes. We hope for the best 🙂

I can't stand the wait until 10/15! Interviewed 9/16.

I feel the same way, I interviewed the 25th, and I'm hoping to not hear from them until the 15th. God willing with an acceptance. But its driving me crazy, slowly!!

Have they sent out rejections?

Does NJMS place people on hold and notify them?

Do people who interview in September have a significantly higher chance of acceptance than people who interview later in the season?

What does it mean if I get invited for a second interview? Don't understand if it's a good or bad sign...
