I had a second interview. They basically just have some questions that they want to clear up. Plus if they're giving you a second interview, it means they're still interested.

yay interview! i went to talk to ms. rivero a while ago to see if i was qualified enough
i thought my 30 would've gotten me somewhere (everything else was in the clear), but i had one section that was a bit low and she urged me to retake
.. so retaken and invited!
secondary sent july-15, new scores on oct-4

I'm in state with 3.45 and 31R (10,10,11) and I'm getting zero love from both NJMS and RWJ. I've been complete for a few months now too 🙁 Oh wellllll.

Do people who interview in September have a significantly higher chance of acceptance than people who interview later in the season?

I hope so! I would love to go here, hopefully an early interview relates to a higher possibility of getting accepted.

...website link for status check anyone? thanks.

What kind of questions do they ask during the interview here ? I have read some posts here and it seems they vary.... Can someone give some more insights into the interview questions ?

it depends on your interviewer
mine was focused on my timeline (grades I skipped, etc.) and also my major. I am a middle eastern studies major, and my interviewer grilled me on a course I took two years ago lol...dates included! I was also asked about an ethical dilemna I have faced, why Rutgers, why medicine (over Middle Eastern studies or something), how I learned Spanish, how big the lower floor of my house was (lol...was asked how many square feet hahaha), stuff like that.

Just prepare and you'll do fine. Read about US health care, be prepared to explain grades, review your app, etc. Interviews (perhaps not mine) are usually conversational, and the greeting staff are really nice!

thanks !! (some questions were really vague 🙂 )

New Jersey Medical School would like for you to come back for a second interview. This interview is not a negative reflection on you. On occasion, the admissions committee would like more information from the candidate as it relates to medical school and this information was not captured during the first interview.

Weird. guess my first interviewer didn't ask enough questions? I agree, he never even asked me why NJMS...

lol my interviewer never finished the question sheet/packet she had...no njms or healthcare question either hahahaha

So for people who interviewed in September and August, are we going to get a phone call/e-mail this weekend or Monday regardless if we are accepted or put on wait list? Or is there a chance we don't hear anything?

I hope so. I just want to know whether I got in somewhere so I can finally relax and not worry about not starting next fall. The anticipation is killing me.

You and I both, my friend

anyone know if it's possible to get into RWJ or NJMS w/ a 26 mcat (10, 8, 8)? I'm an in-state student. I know it's unlikely I just want to know if they would even consider me with those scores. Do they consider your best scores? Thanks

I just wanted to tell you that anything is possible. I am an in-state NJ resident and my MCAT score was not the greatest! I've taken the MCAT 5 times (19, 22, 21,22, 25). My science GPA from undergrad was a 3.0. I am currently in a graduate program at GA-PCOM with a science GPA of 3.74. But I've already received 5 interviews and its only mid-October!! I interviewed at NJMS in late September and I have interviews at RWJ, Cooper, Morehouse, and PA-PCOM coming up in November. So please do not be discouraged at all. Anything is possible!! 🙂🙂

I saw an article that is great news for future medical students at NJMS. Thought I'd share it. NJMS's Student-run Health Care Clinic is one of the oldest in the nation, and is the only Student-run clinic in New Jersey. It is just one facet of the incredible clinical experience that NJMS provides, which is the reason for fantastic match lists that annually place students at MGH, Yale, Hopkins, Penn, Cornell, among other top residencies.

And Jess - your post is definitely an inspiration. I wish you success this cycle!

Cooper is going to be opening one just like it. No longer the only one in NJ.

Anyone hear anything yet?

Nope! But I interviewed ~5 weeks ago so I'm really hoping I get to know one way or the other soon. Do they announce all decisions (rejects, waitlists) or only acceptances?

Somebody should have called admissions yesterday to find out when/when not to expect a call

I agree someone should've called to ask when phone calls would start going out. This wait is terrible.

Cooper is going to be opening one just like it. In about eleven months it will no longer be the only one in NJ, if Cooper allows first years to work the clinic without any assistance from 3rd and 4th years who have been trained in patient interaction.

Fixed

But 3rd and 4th years who are trained in patient interaction are already at Cooper...they are just from other schools. There are 112 of them, to be exact.

Are you suggesting that RWJ students rotating at cooper will have their med school switch to Cooper, or that Cooper is forming a union with RWJ for use of the Cooper Med student clinic by both school's students, or that there just happen to be med students in the hospital system unaffiliated with the med school.

Regardless, I just wanted to fix the above post, I don't mean to hijack this school's school-specific thread any more for sake of current applicants

Deleted because we are totally talking about this in the wrong thread hahaha.

I agree. Am I the only one that has been holding on to my phone for dear life. Every time is rings, my heart stops sigh...........:scared:

I'm doing the same thing. Except my phone hasn't rang yet. 🙁

Has anyone been accepted yet? I thought I heard them say at my interview that acceptances wouldn't go out until the 16th. But someone on here just posted that the admin. office claims they are starting tonight. Confused😕
Anyone know?

By the way, I interviewed on the 6th on October. Do you think I will hear in the next couple days or could it take awhile. Of course, that is, if I am accepted.

By the way, yes I am also holding my phone close. This is my number one !!!

Hey Mvince89, I believe it takes two weeks for an application to 'go to committee' but who knows if there are exceptions or if they rush October interviews for the Oct 15th acceptance day or something. Good luck to you and everyone else for all schools :luck:

When I spoke to admissions a while ago they said calls come out 'after' October 15th. That was not yesterday, that is today. I am also sure that SOMEONE on this board would have gotten a call. We have like 25 solid, active applicants who have interviewed.

Also keep in mind that they have been interviewing since the beginning of August for regular decision, so Dr. H probably has 80 people to call today. Don't freak out if you don't get one right away.

I called Thursday (thinking ahead 😀) and the woman told me it would start 10/15. I even said "Oh, so calls will begin to go out on Saturday and Sunday?" and she said yes. I interviewed mid-Sept. so I'm hoping he did the August calls yesterday.

I'm preeeeeeeeeetty sure if they started accepting people we would've found out either via this thread or mdapps... but I've been stalking both and there's been no mention of NJMS...

anyway, +3 for holding phone close

I wonder if they have a twitter or fb account. Some schools have been counting down, until calls and acceptances are to be sent out. I dont know if that would help us or stress us out. lol 🙄

ACCEPTED............................defeat

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Would you mind sharing your interview date and stats please. Did you get the call today or tonight?

Congrats again. That is so exciting!!!

I concur. Stats and state residence please. Also how do you think your interview went.

Wait, who got accepted? I think that guy up there is just joking. Either you two are missing something or I am!

Yeah I dont really understand why it says defeat after accepted.

haha uhh I was just kidding ("accepted defeat")....nevermind. But anyway, I really hope I didn't jinx myself there.

Accepted!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!! You must be so happy 😀

Wow, you interviewed REALLY early! When I interviewed (first week of sept) they told me *I* was one of the earliest people... o__0 obviously not?
