I need to know this as well since I missed the call...

CONGRATS!!!! 👍 😀 Well deserved!

So was yesterday all the acceptances so far? Or will there probably be another batch of calls for people who have already interviewed?

In the past forums, it seems that they did it over a couple days...

Fingers crossed for tonight!

Congrats to everyone who's already been accepted! And for those who havent heard yet, keep your hopes alive! It's not over until you hear back. I interviewed in mid-August last year and wasn't accepted till a week after October 15th. Hope to see you guys at second look! Vandy's a great place to be, so come check it out 🙂 Feel free to pm me if you have questions!

Thank you, csheng89, I needed that! You must be a doctor or something 😀 I interviewed in mid-August this cycle and since others have gotten the call first I've been assuming that I got wait-listed. How did you hear back, was it still the phone call? When did the letter come?

We could all use an lol right about now.

I got the call from Dean Zic first. Then everything else either came in the mail or via email. So yeah, dont give up hope! If you don't hear back in a week or so, I would call the admissions office and briefly ask about the status of your application but definitely dont call like every day or something. That would just irritate them lol.

I wanna stay positive, but obviously they don't call for rejections and I'm just wondering if my rejection is in the mail and I just haven't received it yet.

Oh well, at least I can take solace in the fact that I have someplace to go next year. It'd just be awesome if Vanderbilt was that place. For now I wait...

Does anyone know when the next adcom meeting is to review interviewee files for acceptances?

I don't know how often they meet, but the dean told us they offer acceptances about ten times in a cycle.

Dangit. That is not that many times over a roughly 6 or 7 month span. I really wish it was once a week .

I don't understand how there is not a single hotel from the school's hotel list that has openings for my interview dates (checked all 9 hotels on the list minus the "orange house"). Is there some kind of special event going on next month?

What is your date? Is it around Thanksgiving?

Does Vandy give you the option of staying with a student host? That would be the easiest and cheapest option.

"folks we're having a problem with one of our engines. We have to turn around." lol...something you DO NOT want to hear on an airplane. My heart dropped to the floor. Sitting back at the airport now and excited for tomorrow!

Better than "folks we're having a problem with both of our engines. We have to turn around."

Has anyone gotten the follow-up email to the acceptance call? I want to know how to reserve my spot, but fear that they'll take it back if I start pestering them already

EDIT: Err wait I just saw the link on the secondary site. Guess I wasn't paying very good attention when he called me at 3:30 in the morning

how long between primary app submission and secondary/II did people wait?

I submitted 1* on 10/1/2011 and haven't heard anything re: secondary

took 16 days for them to address the letter and it got here in about 4 days (from TN to MD)

Has anyone been waitlisted/rejected after their interview yet?

My roommate and I had primaries verified the same day. He received an II earlier this week and I haven't heard anything from Vandy other than "primary received." Should I be expecting a rejection soon, assuming they reviewed both of our apps in the same batch? Or am I just making an unfounded assumption? 😕

mrmatt, there is seemingly little method to the madness that is med school applications. So do not read into dates and be discouraged!

Any idea on how far into the interview season the acceptances reached this last time around? (strange wording... I know).

They said to expect a decision 8-10 weeks after your interview date.

does anyone know when they decide on the non-need scholarships? I vaguely remember that they call, but is it shortly after they make the offer of admittance?

We likely won't hear until sometime in late November or December. I called and asked about this, as I remember them saying on interview day it might happen around the time of acceptance, but I don't think that statement applies to the early batch. Vicky mentioned that the first scholarship committee meeting (for merit-based awards) hadn't been scheduled yet.

And yes, you will be called if selected. Good luck! 🙂

Lol, that's true. I guess I just needed confirmation!

loved my day at Vandy! ... on a side note - It's been fun and refreshing meeting fellow applicants, people who really share my interests and are excited about going into medicine. Everyone also has a unique story to tell. I don't meet a lot of these people with what I'm doing now so it's been fun.

I'm in process of booking my flight and have a question: Do you think I could make a 5pm flight, after my interview, out of Nashville?

Takes about 15-20 minutes to get to the airport during rush hour (ask your cab driver to take division to demonbreun to I-40 E) and you only need to leave yourself 30-40 minutes to check in and get through security.

So I guess that's a go. Thanks!

I just got a call from the Admissions Director. I got in!
Has anyone got any email/snail mails about how to reserve a spot yet? I think we need to pay a deposit...
