I read this on adea.org today:

"Starting with the 2011 ADEA AADSAS application, applicants no longer self-report DAT scores in the application. ADEA AADSAS will obtain your official DAT scores directly from the American Dental Association’s Testing Services Center and will import them directly into your application. If you take the DAT after your ADEA AADSAS application has been sent to your designated dental schools, an updated application, reflecting your DAT scores will be forwarded to schools just as soon as the scores are received."

Does anyone have any idea how this will effect things? I can't decide if this is bad or good.

I think its definitely good and I would imagine it would save everyone money. Instead of sending your DAT scores to every school maybe you just have to send one to AADSAS now BUT someone would be losing substantial money if this were the case so my guess is they will come up with some clever way to "stick it to your wallet."

Exactly my thoughts...

Yeah this year, all you do is use your DENTPIN and it automatically uploads your DAT scores for you. It should be MUCH less expensive.

There is no way they are giving up 25 dollars to essentially send a few lines a data.

it is a bigger profit margin than cell phone companies and their txt messaging fees.

In all likelihood in the coming years they'll just roll that 25 dollars into your application and per school fee.

They'll probably just lower the registration fee for the DAT which right now gives you up to 5 score reports.

I'm willing to be they'll spin it as how they are making it easier and cheaper for students to apply.

It is very simple for them to continue charging $25. Your score will be entered into your AADSAS, but you have to still pay for every school you want to have access to your app. Am I missing something?
