yay or nay regarding sending the committee and update letter/LOI post-interview?

if anyone's done this, mind sharing how it went for you?

merry christmas, and happy holidays!

I sent in an update letter/letter of interest in PDF form via email on 12/21, and it's been noted in my application summary.
Too soon to tell if it'll be useful, I only interviewed in the beginning of December.

accepted!!!!! just got letter in the mail. got the final decision last thurs or friday. i am absolutely speechless this is the best christmas present i could have ever asked for. PM if you want to know stats they aren't anything special so stay positive! happy holidays!

got the acceptance too, pretty quick turn around since status change on friday the 21st. ill be withdrawing, so hopefully my spot goes to someone eagerly waiting on the waitlist.

also, i never added my two cents about my interview experience during that whole section earlier in the thread, but i will now let it be known that i had an awful interrogating student interviewer that really darkened my perception of the school and its students. he seemed miserable, challenged me on everything, spoke like he was of the utmost authority on medical school and drexel (he was a first year and had been at school for just about 2 months when i interviewed), and basically tried to convince me not to go to drexel. i definitely think the admissions office should know about this, and should maybe screen their student interviewers a bit better. obviously i held my own and convinced him that i would be a good fit, because he told me he was going to give me a good evaluation, but the whole experience really soured my opinion of the interview day.

I sent an update letter and I'm pre-interview. It was noted online (as supporting materials). No idea of it will help but couldn't hurt. At least I know they got it!

Acceptance letter in the mail today, interviewed 10/18. Didn't check my status online so I have no idea what it said when or when it changed, if it did.

anyone stuck on "with the committee" status for more than 3 weeks?

what?!!! post-interview?

Unfortunately it seems like Drexel really varies. I think some people have taken 12 weeks to get accepted, while some have gotten accepted after 6-7 😕

Wooooohooooooooo accepted today as well!!! Interviewed about 10 weeks ago.

Congrats to everyone accepted! 🙂 No ones heard anything about a second look, right?

Today marks 12 weeks for me and I'm still on the "Your file is currently under review by a member of the admissions committee and will be sent to committee shortly" status.

I think they need to redefine "shortly". I've had this status for 2 months now.

At one point, I just threw my hands in the air and said "Whatever, I guess they forgot about me." My acceptance letter came about a week later (after 10 weeks).

Who exactly would I address a post-interview letter of interest to here? E-mail or snail mail?

I addressed it to Kelli Kennedy, and sent it as a PDF file via e-mail. I suppose you could do snail mail but I always find electronic versions easier (and they could always just print it out if they keep paper records for applicants)

For those keeping track of timelines

7 weeks after my interview my status changed to under review by committee. Let's see when I get a decision status...

mines been at "under review by committee" for the past three weeks, hopefully, it will chnage to a decision soon

can anyone quickly give a run down of what the interview is like?

i know there's a written portion but is it 1 interviewer, 2, etc.?

what was the essay format -- i.e. how long do you have to write, etc.? is it typed or handwritten?

Don't worry about the essay. They give you more than enough time to write a simple essay. Also don't feel like you need to write tons! I wrote a few sentences (< 6)and was accepted

We had about 30 minutes to do it before they started the admissions presentation. It's hand-written and they ask you to only use the one side of the page.
And like the poster above me said, it's the least of your worries on that day.

decided to cancel my interview and withdraw my application. Seems like a great school though. Interview was scheduled for Jan 15th. They say that they try to give cancelled interview spots to people who want to move their interview dates to an earlier spot. So if Jan 15th is a better date for anyone, maybe email the admissions coord?

Good luck everyone!

will there be a facebook group how are we suppose to figure out living situation...?

So ridiculous... interviewed first week of October and still no decision.

yeah someone will make a facbook group. As far as living is concerned I remember students starting an excel sheet several months before school where people could post their living styles, how many roommates they want, hobbies etc...

Got "final decision" status today. Interviewed late october.

Just checked my status randomly and saw an interview invitation!! Never got an email about it.... Complete early september, OOS, 3.9, 33

Apparently I was placed on hold. I've no idea how long I've been on hold since I don't see an "updated..." datum on the secondary website and I didn't receive an email (like others before me).

🙁

do u know how long you had the "Your file is currently under review by the admissions committee. No decision has yet been made regarding your admission status to Drexel of University. " status?

thanks!

Is anyone interviewing on 1/9 and staying at the Crowne Plaza in Philly West? I'm going to request the hotel shuttle to drop me off at 2900 queen lane. PM if you'd like a free shuttle ride from crowne plaza to the med school

"Your file is currently under review by a member of the admissions committee and will be sent to committee shortly. No decision has yet been made regarding your admission status to Drexel University."

Does anyone know how long it usually take to get a decision after this status?

I'm new to SDN, but this is why I joined it haha. I was accepted at the end of December, and have been wondering that as well. Also, I am kind of lost on where to get all the loans I need to pay for this. Congratulations to all those accepted!

Fill out the FAFSA and you should get ~40k via the Federal Stafford. After the grad plus loan should cover the rest of it. (And thats all my knowledge on loans pretty much )

ugh i got put on hold here today... just one day after sending an update letter, is there any hope left for an interview invite??

How does the preinterview hold work? When will they give me a final decision and put me out of my misery? Do many people get off the list? Seems like there is a lot of people canceling interviews and letting go of acceptances. Hmmm.

i spoke to them and they said the last invites go out in mid/late feb. the person i spoke to didnt seem too optimistic about chances of moving away from the hold... just end it haha

holy carp, i have no chance when you guys (shaker and drpedsurg) with 34's are on hold. drexel why you no make no sense?

Welp... That's it. I'm done! I give up! Happy I have an acceptance somewhere, but I sure would love a chance at Drexel. I'm in love with the medical humanities program!

BTW.. I'm flattered, but I do not have anywhere near a 34 MCAT. #justsayin
